This hotel was the perfect place to stay when we visited Brussels recently.
The room was decorated to a high standard, bed was comfortable, staff friendly & helpful. If we ever go back to Brussels - this is where I would want to stay.
Shop around for good price deals tho - we saved over 200 euros per night by shopping round the internet! Would recomment to everyone with no hesitation.

I was visiting Brussels for a weekend Eurostar break and this hotel was included as part of the package. It was centrally located and we were able to walk to everywhere we needed. The common parts such as the lobbby were very grand but as with many hotels the rooms were not quite as impressive. It has free internet access in the lobby which came in very useful. The hotel was very well run and the staff helpful at all times.

I visited that hotel when i had friends from the UK in Brussels a couple of months ago. Lobby is quite impressive, rooms are spacious & hotel has recently been totally refurbished. It's located at 10 minutes walk from the Grand Place. I would recommend this hotel for a weekend break in Brussels.

Historical Traveller Reviews of Hotel le Plaza Brussels

Glad I read this web page!

After finding a great rate on Hotel Le Plaza's own website, I booked it. Then, after thinking more about the reviews on this page with the porn shops, and since I was vacationing with family, I decided to cancel it. The policy on their site was that you are able to cancel before 3pm day of arrival. We were already on vacation in Prague and it was 2 days before we were heading to Brussels. I called the hotel to cancel and they told me I would not be able to cancel via telephone. I said I was at a hotel in Prague and I could not get to a computer easily and spoke to a manager. They said there was no way they could cancel my reservation over the phone. I had booked through the hotel's own website, not like expedia. I finally found an internet cafe and tried to cancel via their website but their site didn't allow me to cancel the reservation. I called the hotel back and they said their site is not compatible because of flash with all computers so some functions are not available--like canceling reservations. I said they needed to cancel my reservation over the phone then in this case. They refused and said the web site is a different system so they did not have access to it so if I did not cancel over the web site system, I would still get billed if I did not check-in. So crazy. I finally had to call 2 different people back in Los Angeles from Prague to find someone whose computer could get on their site and get them to cancel it for me. After staying in Brussels, you would not want to stay in Le Plaza's location anyhow. Book at the Amigo--it is worth the extra money for the great location.

Its not 5 stars but I like it

from SimonLancaster
You can get very good rates here 110 euro per night.. for a great room. The hotel is sort of grand and the bedrooms are very acceptable.. the location is rough and a slog to the grand palace but it is more central than all the gaffs around the Avenue Louise. If you dont mide beeing in the middle of a load of tack then this place is a good choice.

Great Hotel, Not-So-Great Location

from A TripAdvisor Member
Stayed in Brussels July 2004 at Le Plaza. It's a grand hotel, and the prices are lower than you would expect to pay. The reason? It is not in the most desirable area of town. Across the street is an adult bookstore and strip club. It sounds seedy, but it didn't really affect our stay. The rooms were large and luxurious, and so is the bathroom. We appreciate a firm, large bed, and a spacious, well-equipped bathroom, and this had both. The walk to Le Grand Palace (old square) took approx ten minutes. Art museums and many shops are also nearby. Despite what we mentioned about location, it was very safe walking everywhere. It's a great value for your money, even with the US dollar declining in value vs the Euro.

Great Value

We stayed here for one night and found this hotel to be everything we wanted. The lobby was beautiful and the room was huge and so was the bathroom, the bathtub must have been six feet long! The desk staff were friendly and polite when we asked for tourist information. The location of this hotel is wonderful with a great shopping street only two blocks away and the Grand Place just a 10 minute walk away. The neighbourhood felt safe at night despite the sex shop across the street, this didn't pose a problem at all. I would not hesitate to stay at this hotel again.

Splendid Hotel - 4* Room

from A TripAdvisor Member
A beautiful hotel, very striking from the outside and luxurious inside. However, whether it was due to the cheap Internet rate we got, our room wasn't the 5* luxury we were expecting (it was my 30th birthday celebration too!!) as it was small and fairly dated. Nevertheless, it was spotlessly clean and extremely well-serviced. The bathroom was OK not impressive though. Good location, just a short walk from Gare du Nord and about 15 minutes walk to Grand Place etc. Couple of porn shops nearby but no bother.

Friendly and Comfortable

from A TripAdvisor Member
I've stayed in many European four and five star hotels and the Le Plaza was right up there. Very relaxed and friendly, comfortable rooms and we were lucky enough to get one with a small balcony. Best yet is the price, it cost us £50 (about $100) a night for the room on expedia. Only downside if you're going for a romantic weekend is the area, which seemed a bit rough and is full of strip clubs and sex shops.

Great hotel

from hessjere1
My wife and I stayed one night at the Le Plaza in Brussels last week. We had a wonderful experience. Our room was enormous compared to other European hotels that we had stayed in, and was comparable to an older luxury hotel in the states with large rooms. The bathroom was very large as well. The area seemed very safe even at night, and the hotel was just a short distance from the major attractions. The bed was very comfortable for my full stomach of waffles, which, by the way, should not be missed, along with the Belgian beers (but not at the same time!).

Worth the 105 Euros

from A TripAdvisor Member
Spent two days over the past weekend at the Hotel Le Plaza. I booked a 105 Euro/night rate and requested a king room, non-smoking. When I checked in, none were available, but the very helpful desk staff put me in a King, corner smoking room (that did not smell at all). Great lobby, great bar -- overpriced breakfast. OK, a few shady places across the street BUT otherwise a great location (and no worse than the Sheraton, the Hilton, etc.).

Great bang for the buck. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Stayed here for 2 nights Feb 04. Location great. Service brilliant.

Good service at Le Plaza

from Mermaid5
Booked this hotel after reading the other reviews on this website! The location of the hotel is good, with an easy 10-15 minute walk to the Grand Place through the shopping areas. The hotel lobby is impressive and we found the staff to be extremely helpful and very polite.
Slightly disappointed with the room and its size - not what you expect for a 5 star rating, but it was clean and tidy, with lots of hot water.
However, the room was quite cold, with a fan heating system that didn't appear to work and the walls between our room and the neighbouring one were paper thin, allowing us to be woken several times during the night to listen to our neighbours' conversation! Brussels itself is fantastic - definitely planning to go back again. Most shops can cater for a variety of different languages, there are lots of things to see and there is no threatening atmosphere that you often find in lots of major cities.
