Disgraceful: no shower, no compensation

For a business visit I booked a single room at Hotel Chambord, through the internet. Price was reasonable at € 129, altough room 18 was quite small (6 m2). But all that can be overcome. What I cannot overcome: upon discovering in the morning that the shower wasn't working, I was promised that it would be looked at as soon as possible. After breakfast, still nobody. At checkout I expected some kind of apology or compensation. But NOTHING, not even after me explicitely asking: what are you going to do about it? I payed full price for small room without a shower. It's just not right. A shame.

After booking a getaway for myself and 10 of my friends, we decided to book rooms at Hotel Chambord, due to it's location and price. After a bad flight we finally arrived at the hotel to be confronted with more bad news; They didn't have room for all of us. After the initial anger, I told myself that this was understandable as many hotels overbook. What followed next was why I have given such a poor review: They told us that two of us would have to go elsewhere (Or as they put it, 'You don't have a room!') and then showed the rest of us to our rooms. They proceeded to show a couple of my friends to a room with a single bed. How they imagined that would work is beyond me. They then showed two of my male friends to a room with a double bed, when they had asked for a twin. They may be close friends, but that's just taking the mickey! We told them that this was unacceptable and wanted other rooms. The receptionist then told us that that was impossible as everyone else had...... Read more

I'm putting this review up so that you can save yourself the torture we endured by not staying in this hotel. On all of the different hotel sights, we saw the beautiful pictures of the rooms, the piano bar, the breakfast room and fell in love with the hotel. We were fantasizing about eating breakfast on that nice balcony with a table and chair they show. Of course, this didn't exisit in our room. The balcony didn't even have a table or chairs. The reality is that we were scammed. The website lists porter service, yeah right, the only guy working behind the desk watched us drag our 9 pieces of luggage without even asking if they could help. The best part, was the 1930's elevator that only fits one person and one piece of luggage. You can imagine the fun in bringing up your luggage! The website lists a piano bar, which was conveniently "under construction", a breakfast room "under construction", an evening lounge "under construction", and your rooms are "being remodeled".......
