Rooms and hotel in general were clean. TV had a reasonable selection of different European channels. Staff were pleasant. A lot of the rooms look out onto an internal square, and are overlooked by other rooms - we had to ask to be moved to a room which was not overlooked. Our main complaint is that we could not be provided with a room with the double bed we had requested. We were given two single beds pushed together, not even made up as a double, with the edsges of the mattresses so hard they cold not comfortably be used as a double. We were told that this was the situation in every room in the hotel. So, if you are a couple who likes to sleep in a double bed, stay away from this hotel. Breakfasts were basic.

Traveling around belgian If you plan an extended stay like we did, just buy a 10 trip pass at the train station. It's cheap and if you want to travel outside the country simply ask for a supplement ticket from the vary last stop in Belgium to your destination. For instance, if you are going to Amsterdam from Brussels, ask for an extension from Essen to Amsterdam, which is much cheaper than from Brussels to Amsterdam and then simply use your Belgian rail pass to go from Brussels to Essen ( no stops involved). We saved around 250 dollars using this type of ticket fare ( in comparison to a $450+ Eurail pass for Benelux).

waffles! do not leave brussels without sampling the waffles!! i didn't know what people were talking about before i came, saw & ate - heaven

Grand Place is Beautiful Make sure you visit here. also saint gery is a lovely area for a couple of drinks
