As a business traveller I expect a hotel to have internet access. Conrad Brussels advertise that they have. I went there and there was no access and after calling the reception nothing happened. After my second call someone came who had nothing to do neither with the connection nor with the computer he knew nothing about it. The internet was out of order on the tv as well. Not to mention the business area next to the reception where there was access to the internet but the area was being refurbished during my stay and the smell of the paint was extremely disturbing… There was an Asian congress at the hotel that time. At 5 in the morning my phone in the room was ringing and someone spoke an asian language to me. He did not understand English. It happened at 6 in the morning as well. As this is not the fault of the hotel there is no problem with it. The problem is that I told the receptionist to switch off my phone for the next day, I do not want to be woken up at 5 by other guests. Believe it or not the same story happened next day. I was woken up again by the phone... At Conrad Brussels every guest receives a small bottle of lukewarm Evian at the evening when the beds are made up. But I was shocked when the maid knocked on the door at 10 in the evening to make up the bed… Then she only gave me the Evian as I was in my bed. It seems a bit late for making up the bed. The hotel has a nice wellness area. Some parts are leaking but all in all it is nice. The hotel advertises itself to have a nice and big swimming pool. It is nice and big but it is hard to swim in an empty swimming pool. The whole swimming pool was empty, employees were to fill it and said it takes about 2-3 hours but it was not working on the other day as well. As a member of the Leading Hotels of the World guests expect to have a perfect and maintained hotel. In the room the wall-to-wall carpet was fringing.

Extraordinary Hotels

from AlHashimi
This hotel is considered as one of the best hotels I have been to in Europe. Rooms are big in Size, service is excellent, Place is wonderful and Staff are very friendly. Although it is one of the most expensive hotels in Brussels, but the service and room quality is also above the standard in Europe.

Not much Charm, but Very Upscale, Nice Hotel

from blah114
I am not sure we'd return because the hotel is a bit stuffy for our tastes. The front desk was nice, helpful.. this hotel is where dignitaries stay. We watched an Amnesty International protest right outside as a Prime Minister was staying here. If you want to experience Brussels, I would stay elsewhere. This hotel is basically for businesspeople dealing with EU issues. It's quite far from the Le Grand area, but is located about 3 blocks from excellent restaurants. It reminded us of a Ritz Carlton with attentive service. Our room was not ready early as requested and front desk person was not sympathetic to our having flown all night our time. Some other staff understood our concerns and addressed them. The hotel has in-room safes, is somewhat quiet, and is located on a very busy street, so ensure your room faces the courtyard. Food was great. Hotel is again akin to a Ritz Carlton with attentive doorman. Robin Williams was staying here when we were there, to give you an idea that anyone "who's anyone" stays at the Conrad when in Brussels. That being said, I would opt for a hotel closer to Grand Place, to experience the CHARM of Brussels vs boutique stores and constant traffic. Nice hotel, though, cannot say anything bad about it. Slamming doors at night got on our nerves (it seems the nicer the hotel, the louder, for some odd reason). Clean, nice, hard bed, immaculate bathroom, zero charm, just a bit upscale and located too far from Brussels' attractions. However, if you've business with the EU headquarters, this hotel is the place to stay. Concierge booked TGV train for us without hesitation, all via e-mail. Very professional, classy hotel.

Good Hotel

Very good executive rooms! Huge bathroom but… Service is hit or miss, one day room service took 30 minutes, next day over an hour! Over all pretty good
Tip: Get room upgrade with Amex platinum!

What a wonderful hotel

Nice but needs improvement

from jah123
I have stayed at the Conrad a number of times. Rooms are nice and if you overlook the courtyeard, it is quite nice and quiet. However, for a luxury hotel I find the idea of paying 16 euros to use the health club outrageous. No other luxury hotel I have stayed at in the world charges to use the health club. similarly, the charge to use broadband is very high, even by European standards. Lastly, I attended a dinner for 10 people held in the hotel and did not find either the food or service to be memorable. The bar is very nice and the service is quite good. This hotel could become much better if it fixed a few problems that I indicated above.

Standard luxury

from FlyingFinn
Quick check-in, quick check-out (hardly any other customer visible), friendly staff. Impressive entrance and lobby with lot of christal lamps, dark wood and exotic stones. (I.e. could be any other luxury hotel).

The room ("normal" deluxe size) was very spacious in the back side of the hotel; the windows/balcony opened to the inner yard of the block. The view was quite open (5th floor), and there were some trees and bushes in the private gardens below. The situation in the back part was also very silent, so it was possible to keep the window open during the night. The room was clean, classically decorated, the bathroom was all in marble with a separate tub and walk in shower.

Some smaller negative things: the water tap leaked a bit, the pictures on the wall were fixed askew, the heating system burbled all night long, and I received a wake-up-call I did not ask for. The room service breakfeast was 28 € for the continental one and 33 for the American one + 5 € room service fee.

I am not an enthusiast of the location: Avenue Louise is - at least in the winter - an ugly and heavily trafficked street (yes, with luxury shops, where you can by oriental carpets of the size of my flat and expencive etc...) It's not too far from the centre of the city, though.

However, I had a pleasent stay and I can recommend the hotel.

Fantastic Hotel but.........

from Glasgow1
Excellent hotel, very helpful desk staff, huge Executive King size bedroom and great location in a lovely part of town. The Metro station is a couple of hundred yards away and takes you all over town. As Hilton Gold card holders we (apparently) got an upgrade although I'm not totally convinced of this. But to be fair they also gave us complimentary breakfast which was an added bonus. This was our first time in a Conrad Hotel, and we thought it was great.

But the only real moan we have is the fact you have to pay over 16 Euros (daily) to use the Health and Spa facilities. These facilities are not owned by the Conrad Hotel and if you only want a swim its gonna cost you. Perhaps the majority of people who use this hotel would not baulk at paying that fee but its very steep. I think if they could sort out a more reasonable costing then the Conrad could call itself 5 star but really its 4.5 star. But dont let this detract you from going as it really is a beautiful hotel.

Apart from the health club problem we highly recommend the Conrad Brussels.

Best Hotel in Bussels!

from SmartTraveller321
Hands down! the best of hotel in Brussels. Located in fashionable Avenue Louise, where you can find great restaurants, shopping, and safe to walk. I stayed at the Conrad Brussels for one week, I enjoyed every second of it. VERY SPACIOUS room, with great views of the city. Room service of the hotel is very prompt when attending to your orders, and the food is delicious. The front desk staff is very friendly, and always smile to make you feel welcomed. The Grand Place is about 20 minutes walking distance, on the way you will find many sites that are great for pictures. My stay was a complete success, I will return to the Conrad Brussels.

A Mixed Experience

from IrishFan
I found some of the room fixtures to be dated and not in great working order. The bathroom in particular was a little on the shabby side, with a scale that didn't work, for example. Little things, but the kind of things you expect to be taken care of in a 5 star hotel.
The staff was not particularly helpful and just gave forth an attitude that they didn't seem happy to be working there. Might be just my take on things.
One example: The concierge booked a tour for me, but forgot to make the actual booking with the tour company. Instead of apologizing, he kept asking me if I were "sure" the tickets weren't delivered to my room. Then he proceeded to call the tour company right in front of me and make a new booking. He obviously had never made the booking on the previous day, and didn't realize that I understand enough French to know what was going on.
I love Brussels, but not this hotel. And I'm also grateful that my rate included breakfast, as the hotel charges 32 euro for it!

Great Hotel

from A TripAdvisor Member
A common comment for the Conrad Brussels seem to be that the rooms and physical property are excellent but service needs improvement. Personally, I do agree but overall, the hotel is still good for me. I think its two main attractions are: (1) great location at Avenue Louise with lots of shopping centers nearby and walking distance from the Grand Place (15 min). (2) A truly 5-star property, which I think most would agree, fit for celebrities.

However, despite the majestic looking lobby and impressive appearance, there is no one to greet you at the front door, or bother to help you with the luggage. The front reception staff were reasonably courteous, but not exceptionally helpful.

The room service is average and pricing was reasonable. Given that Conrad is suppose to be a luxury brand of Hilton, I find is interesting that the rates were almost the same when I was in Brussels, and in that respect, good value for money.

Top Local Tips for Brussels

les chapeliers restaurant Don't go it was rubbish ! It is just off the gran place, very expensive and food very bland.

Historical Buildings Take good walking shoes to cope with the cobbled streets while exploring the historical buildings.

Service in restaurants / bars in Brussels is shocking If you can afford, pay a little extra to ensure you receive good service in the bars and restaurants of Brussels. Some of the worst I have ever experienced. 20minute wait for a menu alone is the norm.
