Clean, Good Location but very Small Rooms.

Just stayed at Martins Bruges for 1 Night in August 2008 and here goes.... The hotel location is absolutely perfect and lies directly behind the Belfry which is obviously very close to the Main Square. The overall appearance of the exterior and interior of the hotel is also very good and the bar and beer garden are of a god standard together with the level of service and cleanliness. The main down side of the hotel which justifies a rating of only 6 is the very, very small size of the rooms. We only stayed for 1 night so it wasn't really a problem however when I say that you "Couldn't swing a cat" I really mean it!! Also, an LCD or Plasma TV was advertised but we just a tiny ordinary portable TV in our room. If the room and TV were larger and as advertised then this hotel would have been given an 8 by myself because everything else was fine including the price.

Top Local Tips for Bruges

If your only there for a few days If your only there for a few days, spend a little bit more to be in a central hotel as your close to everything and you get to see more - particually true in Brugge...

Take a train to Brussels If going to Brussels for the day, take the train! Just go to the train station (duh!), a return trip for 2 was €25.00. But this saves taking the car (Brussels is no fun to drive around), saves on parking and means you can have a good meal (with wine!) once in the city. Then a 55 minute trip back, through lovely countryside. Their trains also make ours look like the disgrace they are - why is it that everyone else in the world can provide clean, comfortable trains with enough seats, whereas the British have to put up with the rubbish supplied in the UK!
