Considering how expensive Brugges is, this hotel was very reasonably priced. It is clean and neat, the rooms are not large, but they are perfectly adequate and people who have complained about this should bear in mind this is a Unesco protected medieval city, so smashing down beautiful buildings to build a mega hotel isn't really possible. The building is very attractive and our room was at the fron with a lovely view and beautiful original windows. The furnishings are a bit characterless for me, but very comfortable and all brand new. The bathroom was very nice, but the glass door ( don't worry it is frosted glass)does mean you may disturb your better half if you need a pee in the middle of the night. The breakfast is very nice with a delicious selection of cold meats, a local cheese three types of sliced bread, two types of roll, croissants and all manner of spreads. A huge choice of teas, some fresh fruit and creals. Boiled eggs also, very genrous and very nice. Worth having a big breakfast and a light lunch to prevent wallet implosion later on. The staff are efficient and polite, they will answer any question and will look after your bags after check out. Which is quite late anyway. The atmosphere is quiet and gentle. There are a lot of "senior" travellers in Bruges and this hotel had a lot staying, but in addition to us ( an early thrities couple) there was also a family with a baby and toddler and a group of six Italian young women. So a nice mix of clientele. The location is fantastic and we walked from the station which takes about 15 minutes, I wouldn't take a taxi unless the weather was really bad, its a lovely stroll and not far at all. All sights are within a stones throw and there a re a large choice of restaurants nearby. Eatng out is expensive. I really recommend the hotel's own map. Brugges is a confusing maze of twisting streets and with three maps in our pocket we found the Hotel Aragon's own map to be the easiest to read. It also has four walking courses marked on it, all of which are very easy and very well planned. The Hotel Aragon is a comfortable ( very warm in our cold March weather) and friendly, but not oppresively so hotel I would heartily recommend. The only reasion I don't give it full marks, is that I am not a fan of standard hotel style fitted furniture.

In my opinion not a 4 Star, no facilities for making tea and coffee in rooms, grubby bedspread and blankets, breakfast only ok, maybe a 3 star, very close to the Christmas markets, at least half the stalls were closed very poor.
