We had an excellent weekend in Bruges made even better with the lovely hotel and very nice staff. The only thing we have a complaint about was the weather which of course we cannot organise! The location was perfect.

Plastic Cups

As this is a 4 star hotel we did not expect to have plastic cups/powerded milk in our bedroom. We woke up every morning with a bad back and a headache, as the beds were lumpy and very low. Pillows were soft and lumpy. Breakfast - tea/coffee and fruit juice were out of a machine (powder again, havent they heard of fresh juice and milk !!!!!!!!.

We came with a group for a 3 night stay. The location was excellent as were the rooms on the top floor. The bed was very comfortable although the pillows were small! The room was well heated & the bathroom well appointed. Breakfast gave a wide choice of food in pleasant surroundings.

Not 4 star

Although this hotel is in a good central position, all I can say is that the rooms are kept very clean, the communal areas are neglected and uncomfortable. The entrance to the hotel is in a dirty state and not welcoming at all. I think the management are too complacent. Why this hotel has 4 stars I'll never know, it should be downgraded!!! Dreadful breakfast, all that was acceptable was toast and marmalade, everything else was either tinned or scrambled. I would not recommend this hotel at the prices they charge.

After reading some of your earlier reviews I thought I should add mine. The Hotel was fine, the rooms were spacious, clean and well decorated. The staff were pleasant and very helpful. Breakfast was basic but very nice, all in all I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to my friends.

Definitely not worth 4*

Apart from the courtyard and breakfast area, overall impression of neglect. Corridors, rooms and lifts extremely grubby and badly in need of redecoration. Bar decoration and furniture rather cheap and nasty. Lots of choice at breakfast but again of poor quality (tinned fruit, barely warm scrambled eggs etc). Many other faults, too numerous to mention. Needs to be downgraded.

Could do better

A convenient location, and well-designed with a lovely courtyard. After this they stopped trying. A non-opening window was not fixed four days after reporting. The same biscuit wrappers were still blowing around the courtyard. Breakfasts were lacking in fresh, as opposed to tinned, components. Bar tolerable, but not v. welcoming, and not always open as advertised. Too complacent, and cruising along on the back of party bookings. Certainly not up to 4* standard.

I was particularly impressed by the management's succeeding in sending on to me an item of clothing which I had left. I am sure it was a great nuisance for them. The location is excellent - you can walk everywhere from the hotel. The breakfasts were excellent, but I certainly did not bother with tea! On the continent coffee is a far better bet. My only slightly negative point is that it was a bit noisy on the front but it did not interrupt our sleep.

This is never a 4 star!

Coffee at breakfast is self service from an urn, tea is self service with tea bag straight into the cup - no teacup - milk has to be poured into your cup at the same time, in the same queue. If you book this hotel on the basis of 4 stars, you will be very disappointed. Book it as 2 star plus. I am referring it to the Brugge Tourist Office.
