The best hotel staff I have ever encountered
from Flaesb
I did not believe this myself, but when I approached the (for the first time) concierge the night we arrived, she greeted me by name! The location is absolutely perfect on the "ring", although the building is mid 1970s American architecture and not nearly as charming as other hotels in the city. The lobby is undergoing a needed make-over, but still will be a very "American" hotel, judging from the placards displaying the future look. Our room was quite large with two queen beds, and wonderful pillows/linens. Bath was outstanding, and spotless. The desk staff could not have been more pleasant, accomodating or solicitous. The Marriott is within walking distance of most everything, and there is a trolley stop directly in front of the hotel which navigates the "ring" around center city (Opera house, museum district, shopping). Room rate (advance purchase) was $220/night, which I thought was not bad for mid-summer at a truly first class hotel.
Pleasant stay!

Very centrally placed, easy access to Vienna's attractions. The nearest metro is only a couple of minutes walk, Stubentor. And tram stops right in front of the hotel as well. Marriot is placed right opposite the Stadtpark, which is very convenient for a early morning or late evening stroll.
Friendly and helpful staff; decent restaurant.
The room we had a king sized bed and plenty of space for my little girl to run around as well.
The airconditioning was struggling to cope with the 26 - 30*C temperatures, which they say is ususual for Vienna. It was rather warm, if not hot inside as well, inspite of dialling the thermostat to 16*C!

Vienna Marriott is worth the stop.

We stayed in two rooms on the Executive Floor for 3 nights in May 2005. This hotel was very comfortable, the amenities great, the location even greater, and the service excellent. No complaints! In fact, when our luggage failed to arrive from Paris, the Concierge graciously followed up for us, and we were happy to see our luggage waiting for us after our first full day of sightseeing. Definitely "Americanized" - but, for Americans travelling in Europe that want the comforts of home, this hotel meets the test. The hotel arranged for a car to the airport, which was more convenient for 4 people and lots of luggage than a taxi (or two.
Who cares about ambiance?
from DMM64
By the time we got to the Vienna Marriott on the fifth day of our trip, I was tired of quaint Bavarian hotels. During the recent heat wave (upper 80s in May!), neither of our two prior hotels had air conditioning (the Torbrau in Munich had not yet switched from heat to AC and the Kurcafe in Fussen had no AC). I was so glad to have a huge room with two QUEEN beds and to be able to crank up the AC, especially given that German and Austrian hotels have only heavy comforters they force upon you rather than the layers we are used to in the US -- no sheet-only sleeping if you're warm (I don't recall that bed covers were an issue in France, Italy, Ireland or the UK on prior trips). The bathroom, which looked recently renovated, was also large. I was ecstatic to be in a US-style hotel, even if it could have been located in any largish Midwestern US city. The location is excellent -- across from Stadtpark and close to Stephensplatz and the Opera, and very accessible if you are traveling by car.
Who cares about ambiance? I'm not in my hotel for very long, but when I am there I want to be comfortable! Regarding the sports bar, go to a different restaurant if you don't want American food -- there are plenty of nice Austrian places within easy walking distance of the hotel.

Great Base for Vienna
from A TripAdvisor Member
Kicked off our Austro-Hungarian tour with four nights at the Marriot, having booked a junior suite which turned out to be absolutely huge.
The staff and room service was excellent, the main lobby bar/restaurant was very nice, though the Sports Bar was ugly, out of place - and scarcely used by anyone.
The location on the Ringstrasse was perfect.
All in all, a typical Marriot, you get what you expect, no more but no less.
Recommended as a comfortable and functional base for Vienna sightseeing, but if you are looking for 'romantic Vienna' then this is not for you - try the Sacher.

Looking Strauss
from Agriogatos
Being in Vienna for a congress in mid-April 2005,I spent three nights in the Vienna Marriott Hotel, just opposite the Strauss Monument in Stadtpark. The room was big and though on second floor and looking at the Ring was quiet.I had a meal twice in the restaurant and it was well prepared and well served by a friendly staff. The central location- just five minutes walk to Stephansdom and shopping area and within walking distance to musems and monuments makes this hotel an excellent choice for a stay in Vienna
lovely hotel
from A TripAdvisor Member
This hotel was wonderful - we stayed before Christmas on the Executive floor (at a surcharge of 50 euros) and thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our stay. It had everything we look for in a hotel - modern decor, clean, friendly staff, excellent food, and a general buzz of excitement that brings a place to life. It was well situated with a tram stop over the road and pretty views over the park. The breakfast was really a la carte as was dinner there. It was convenient for us as a family of four to be able to stay in just one room, and we also had use of the Executive room for when we started to get in each others hair! It certainly wasn't cheap but with a hotel as fantastic as this whos complaining?!
A great hotel, however no evening meal available
from GVR
I loved this hotel. The breakfasts were especially good, and featured a lovely view over the park across the road. The beadrooms were very nice. We had a large suite, composed of two large rooms and a great bathroom. Only bad point is the lack of supper facilities in the hotel. You have to go outside to a slightly downmarket bar for evening meals. However, still a very nice hotel.
d arrived in Kansas City
from A TripAdvisor Member
Arrived after New Year's after spending three nights in Salzburg at the amazingly wonderful Goldener Hirsch and three nights at the Four Seasons in Prague (which is a 5 star plus), and I thought I'd arrived in Kansas City. What's with the Champions Sports Bar? If I wanted an American sports bar I wouldn't have gone to Vienna. No atmosphere, rooms like a mediocore Hampton Inn, souvenior shop (are you kidding?). Save your money; go to the Hotel Sacher.
a 3 star and not a five star
from marinjoe
The hotel was your basic Marriott. There is nothing 5 star about this property. The included breakfast buffet was pretty bad. You could use the bacon as shoe leather. The room was ordinary and standard. The club room was simply ok. The best feature was its location. You are paying for that.
