Excellent Hotel
from A TripAdvisor MemberFood excellent especially the breakfast.
Room was fantastic, as was the room service .
Avoid!
from A TripAdvisor MemberGranted, the hotel's location is excellent but (apart from the reception staff) the service was terrible.
Initial impressions were good but the hotel really is only 3+ stars at best. We had a large room but our view consisted of a glass roofed internal courtyard. On our first night we were awoken by loud music - an office Christmas party due to continue until after 2am. Obviously our baby was very distressed, so we ended up changing rooms to a higher floor - just what you need in the middle of the night!
At breakfast the next morning, our request for a baby's high chair was met with derision by the resuarant mananger. Worse still, we had to share a table with another couple due to the fact that the staff couldn't be bothered to clean up any of the empty tables. The breakfast itself was adequate.
To top it all, my wife had left a valuable piece of jewellery in our original room. Surprise, surprise - it had vanished. Hotel management promised to do all they could to find it but then we never heard from them again! It was only as a result of my wife's detective work and skills of persuasion, that the head chambermaid managed to uncover the item in the locker of one of the other maids where it had been put for safe keeping (for over 24 hours)!
So, in summary this hotel claims to be 5 star but it's levels of customer service barely scrape 1 star. When will hotel managers realise that if you pay your staff peanuts you get monkeys.
Dreadful service
from PHILEASFOGGDundeeGreat Ambience in Public Areas with An Excellent Staff
from A TripAdvisor MemberThe front desk staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, with excellent skills in English ( only wish I could have reciprocated with at least a marginal grasp of the German language).
The room was a bit of a disappointment - with the furniture and wall coverings being a little worn and needing refreshing.
Good location, but next time we'll be staying a little bit closer to Stephen Platz.
Lovely Hotel
from A TripAdvisor MemberPleasant stay, wonderful location
from A TripAdvisor MemberThe Stadtpark location can't be beat. We walked everywhere from here or took the ring tram which is just outside the hotel.
We had a very pleasant stay!
Worth the money
from lgalvinNot up to our expectations
from SanooyGreat location, but....
from jplennyThe room was fairly typical. Coming into the room, you had a closet on your left and then the mini bar. This small entrance area was very narrow. Just getting my luggage into and out of the room seemed to be much more difficult that normal because of the narrow space.
Once in the room, there was a chair on table on the right wall, looking out a window, two single beds against the far wall and a desk area to my left on the near wall. Further along the near wall was the entrance to the bathroom. The TV was located along the same wall, past the bathroom entrance. The single beds were a bit small for my size, but they were comfortable and the chair near the window was also created a comfortable area to read and relax.
The desk area made it easy to work. There were several plugs and a CAT5 connection for a PC. The room offered both Wireless and Wired internet for 19.00Euro a day. The desk had a nice desk lamp that lit up the area well and there was enough room at the desk to spread some of my work out.
The hotel offers a breakfast buffet, but I would advise travelers to shop the nearby cafes and bakeries instead. While the buffet fair, is most certainly not work anything near the 23.50 Euro charged. The breakfast buffet fair was typical for a European hotel. Choices included breads and rolls, juices, yogurt, fresh fruits, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, along with assorted meats and cheeses, and various sweet breads and cakes. For the price, I would have thought there would have been a bit more selection and choices.
The hotel staff wasn't that impressive. They always seemed to be extremely busy and didn't have enough time to deal with their customers correctly. I waited at the travel desk for 15 minutes, waiting for someone to help me, but it never happened. The morning I checked out, there were only two clerks dealing with all the departing customers. This resulted in a long line at the front desk. Since the hotel did not offer an express checkout service, everyone who was departing was required to visit the desk for their bill.
All and all the hotel is nice, but with the small rooms, the busy staff, and the pricey breakfast, I'm sure there are better values in Vienna when compared to other hotels of this category in Vienna.
Cellular Phones a disturbance
from A TripAdvisor MemberTop Local Tips for Vienna
Take the Schnellbahn, it's cheapest Take the Scnellbahn local train from the airport. It stops right by the main centre and only costs E3 (or E1.50 if you buy a 3 day Vienna Card at the airport first). Quick. easy and cheap.
Train from the airport to the city The train from the airport to he city had great service. We tried to buy our tickets from a machine on the platform at the airport and although we'd stuck our credit card in we were getting confused about how the ticket machine worked and as the train was about to depart an employee told us to jump on board and buy our tickets on board the train from the conducter. We got on board and the ticket collector told us his colleague had called him to advise that we had actually manged to purchase our tickets at the station but the machine had been slow to spit them out and to make sure he gave us a return ticket.
Taxis can take advantage of tourists Check with your hotel conceirge for taxi rates before arriving so you know how much the fare should be to and from your hotel.
