Pension Pertschy is a real find!

Pension Pertschy is a jewel. Our week there in August could not have been better: fine room, excellent breakfast, and top quality service. The desk personnel were extremely helpful to us. Best of all is the location -- there is no better -- just off the Grabin between Stephensdom and Hapbsurg Palace. We WILL return!

Excellent location, but tired decor

For location this hotel cannot be bettered. Good continental breakfast. I was disappointed with the room decor - it was tired. The curtains were old and the wallpaper well past its sell by date. However, the bathroom though small was clean and modern and the furniture was nice and in keeping with the hotel. Seemed expensive at 130 euros per night but that could just be Vienna.

You should stay there!

Christmas in Vienna is an amazing experience, and the Pension Pertschy delivered fine quality and a superbly quiet location. Right off the Graben, our room was fabulously large with parquet floors and large windows looking out onto rooftops with snow. Tiny elevator up one flight to the lobby or you can take the regal stairs. Internet port near the front desk; a very satisfying breakfast; the only drawback was the peculiar bathroom with postage-stamp shower. Overall: ideal. We will continue to recommend this worthy gem to friends.

This hotel was simply fabulous. The rooms were large, bright and airy with vaulted ceilings. The hotel is a little bit older property, but very well taken care of. You can see a few tears in the carpet, but the furniture is well taken care of and the place is very clean. The staff is the best we had in our month long stay in europe. They recommended excellent restaurants and concerts and kindle answered a thousand questions from us! Also, they knew we were on our honeymoon and the room had a lovely note with a bottle of champagne and box of chocolates awaiting us. All in all, this was the best hotel we stayed in and very, VERY reasonably priced. Oh, and the location is wonderful . . . we walked almost everywhere as the hotel is near everything!

We are currently living in Germany for 2 years and went to Vienna for the weekend. We stayed at this hotel due to the reviews I read on this site. I was not disappointed! It is a lovely hotel with a very classic decor. The staff was ver helpful and nice. The breakfast was very tasty, with different cereals, breads, meats and cheeses. Also, eggs cooked to your choice. At the end of our street was the winter riding school of the Lippinzaner Horses and Museum. We were just off Graben st and close to Kaertner Strasse. And located behind Hofburg palace. An Ubahn station is very close to the hotel, that connects you to the West train station (about 5 stops on U3) We had a street side room, and cars drove down it frequently durng the night. Didn't bother us, but if it may bother you, better ask for a room on the interior side overlooking the courtyard.

We stayed here for 5 nights just before Christmas thanks to the reviews I read on Trip Advisor. The room was perfect, just what we expected, and the staff was extremely gracious and helpful. The location is fantastic and the rates are reasonable considering your proximity to the breathtaking sights Vienna has to offer. An added benefit is that breakfast is included in the room rate. Can't wait to stay here again!

Pertschy was perfectly located to be able to explore city center on foot. Our room was a good size, clean and quiet. It is not a fancy hotel, but provided exactly what we wanted for our 4 night stay.
Recommended.

We were delighted with the location of the Pension Pertschy. The room was pleasantly large and clean and the bathroom was modern. The lady at the desk was extremely helpful, even calling the airline for us to confirm our flights when we asked her to use a phone to do so. The free use of the internet was an added bonus. I would recommend this for the traveler who is not interested in a fancy hotel with a fancy price.

The Pertschy is Perfect

The Pension Pertschy remains a first rate spot from which to explore Vienna. The location is perfect. It is 1/2 block from the Graben, Vienna's main pedestrian plaza, and very close to St Stephan's Cathedral, the Royal Palaces and the Winter Riding School (home of the Lippizaner Stallions). The hotel is quiet, the staff very helpful, the breakfast choices very good and the use of internet access is complimentary. We spent 4 delightful nights at the Pension Pertschy in September 2003 after cycling 700 kms through Austria. It was a perfect end to our trip. We managed to obtain one of the few "apartments" which are extremely spacious and come with a mini-kitchen, including a fridge, sink and 2 burner stove. The cost of Eur 137 per night was, considering all, a bargain. We would not hesitate to stay there again.

Top Local Tips for Vienna

Train from Airport, Vienna Card We got confused coming from the airport and wound up on the 20 Euro high speed train instead of the 6 Euro S7. And on the return trip, checked our bags at the Austrian Airline counter in the downtown station, and found we locked ourselves into the high speed train for the return trip too! OUCH! The Vienna Card is a very worthwhile investment to help get around the city.

House of Music the House of Music is a great place to take kids and it's fun for adults too.

To and from airport If you are on your own take the CAT train from the airport to city. Takes 16 mins and cost 16 euro return. Then take the U-Bahn to Stephansplaz for 1.50 euro. If there are 3 or 4 of you then get a taxi which will deliever you to the hotel door for 32.50 euro. (taxis are almost all Mercs and ar spotless!
