Modern, but very comfortable and friendly

The Hotel is situated in an excellent location. Reception, concierge friendly, helpful and efficient. Bar staff excellent. The room was large, modern and very comfortable. The Mini bar was complimentary and indicative of the hospitality in the hotel. Would strongly recommend this hotel.
The location is very convenient

The location is very convenient, the room was very nice, the amenities (gym, jacuzzi) were pleasant. The free mini bar and the fruit in the room were a nice touch. Some of the interior decor (red, black) of the hotel is garish at best, reminded me of some of the seedy night clubs I had seen. The fact that the high price of the room did not include breakfast, for which a hefty sum of extra money was to be paid, was also surprising. Hotels of lesser quality and of lower price routinely provide this. No free parking at this level? Another bad suprise. Not spending much time on how my wife's hair spray was lost from the room during the daily cleaning, causing more inconvenience, the worst part was when the reception staff actually tried to rob us. The trick the man pulled on us had last been tried on me some twelve years ago in Asia, in a three star establishment. This is how it goes:
When we checked out, the man at the reception told us we had to pay extra, as we had been upgraded for a better room and that we had already been told this upon check-in. When I told him that nobody said anything on check-in, and that they couldn't have, as this was a room pre-confirmed by e-mail, he actually asked me...'Ok, so how much did they tell you you had to pay?' This in a day and age when your last breath is on the computer...Oh, yes, and as a last try he tried to charge us for a bar bill run up by somebody else in another room the previous night. When I told him that it wasn't my signature on the bill, and it couldn't have been as I had been fast asleep at that time, he made out to check some papers and said...'Oh, you are right, this was another room' Please mind that he did not at any stage say 'sorry'. So our stay in your hotel was unfortunately marked by these events, a shame, as this trip was to celebrate our ten year wedding anniversary and I had tried to find the nicest city and the nicest hotel for the occasion. The result? I find it unlikely that I will ever go back there again, and I will not recommend the hotel to anyone.

Fantastic place! Very nicely equipped rooms, perfect location (at the "innere Ring") just across the street from the opera, friendly staff, perfectly clean rooms. The breakfast buffet leaves nothing to desire.

The ultimate hotel!

I selected Le Meredien Vienna based on these reviews and it turned out to be the hotel highlight of a six week trip to Europe. This is truly an exceptional hotel.
I booked the room through the Meridien website and on arrival I was offered an up-grade to a deluxe room for 20 Euros per night which was was well worth it. The room was very large with opening windows and the very latest design and style with one of the most comfortable beds I have ever experienced and a superb Plasma television. The shower is also amazing with multiple jets! However one of the best features was the free broadband internet access and the free mini-bar. These are services other five star hotels could learn from.
However, the quality did not end in the room. The bar is a fabulous place and seems very popular with locals. The hotel, restaurant and bar staff have a wonderful attitude and offer a consistently warm and friendly service.
The end result, like so many of the other reviewers, is that I would never stay anywhere anywhere else in Vienna! Congratulations Le Merdien..This is what hospitality should be about!

What an Experience

My experience with Le Meridien was amazing from the start. The hotel had set up my airport transfers and upon arrival at the airport, my driver awaited us in front of everyone ready to take our luggage away. He gave us a little city tour and told us all the sites to visit. Our mouths dropped once we walked into our room. Everything was just beautiful! The washroom floor became a pool of water after you showered as there was no shower door, but everything else made up for that. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive to our needs. There were two workers that really made our stay at Le Meridien really enjoyable...Mehmet and Gaydian. They really went out of their way for us. Whenever we sat downstairs in the lobby just to relax a little, they would come around with some drinks or would always have stories to tell us.The hotel is in a great location. You have the opera house about a 2 minute walk away. The subway is a 5 minute walk and there is a shopping district within 5-10minutes away. I would definitely stay at this hotel and highly recommend it to those interested in having a relaxed yet chic stay in Vienna!

All the reviews of this hotel are very accurate. Overall, it was a great experience. We had booked the hotel's car service to pick us up at the dock (we arrived from Budapest on the Hydrofoil - which was fun). However, the car service didn't show so we jumped in a cab and called the hotel to let them know. When we arrived, the concierge personally greeted us and profusely apologized for the mix-up (the driver was the wrong entrance) and personally helped us check-in, escorted us to the room, got us settled and then sent up an amazing desert tray. You can always judge a great hotel not by whether they ever make mistakes, because everyone does, but rather by how they respond to them. As far as I'm concerned the hotel handled the situation perfectly.
I won't go into the details of the style of the hotel and rooms as the other reviews do it justice. But if you like very modern style and amenities as I do, you'll love it. The staff was also excellent. When we asked what time the bar closed, the response was around 2 AM or whenever the guests leave. That's the answer of a great, guest-focused hotel.
On the downside, we did have the problem with the very cool looking shower flooding as others reported. And I don't mean a little water on the floor - I mean flood. Housekeeping immediately cleaned it up for us but I think they put form above function with the shower. The location of the hotel is good but other hotels are better. The only thing it's extremely close to is the Opera house. Everything else is quick to get to by cab or by metro which is about a 5-10 minute walk. I generally like to be in the center of the action but it was worth the trade-off for such a sleek hotel.
When I read all the reviews, I definitely wanted to stay at this hotel and I'm very glad I did.

Stylish and very comfortable

This ultra-modern hotel is comfortable and quiet - there is even an a la carte menu in the bedside drawer to choose bedding if you don't like the pillows provided (we loved them). The beds are big and comfy - perfect for recharging your batteries - and there is a turndown service each evening. The rooms are spacious, stylish and spotless. The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. Virtually everything you would want to see in Vienna is within walking distance of this hotel. The free minibar was great. We read these reviews before we booked Le Meridien and were a bit anxious about the opaque bathroom door descibed in previous reviews but this really wasn't a problem and it shouldn't put you off - the bathroom was round the corner from the main room and so privacy was not an issue for us. The only minor grumble we had was a problem with our 42" TV which went on for several days - we couldn't get any movies and it couldn't be fixed, however we were offered a new room so we can't fault the service. We would definitely recommend this hotel and we would certainly return.

Hotel is brand new and very modern. Awesome flat screen TV. Nice pool and hot tub. Free Internet access. I SOAKED our bathroom after my first shower as does every guest of this hotel. Helpful concierge. Great location. Within walking distance to St. Stephen's cathedral and the Hofburg palace.

This hotel is not just about the fantastic decor and top notch rooms/beds/tv/bar/free minibar/restaurant and cafe food. It's biggest assest is its staff.
Nothing was too much trouble - trips/timetable info/any query at all. The customer service at this hotel is second to none and it was a pleasure and a delight to stay there. They put a card in your room saying something along the lines that their aim is to ensure you'll want to come back. Well, when I go back to Vienna I couldn't possible stay anywhere else.
Once there was a problem with the TV. An engineer was there to fix it wthin 5 minutes of my call. Not only that but when I next had lunch in the cafe and went to pay I was told that it was on them because of the problem with the TV.
After 10 days there we were due to go to Saltzburg for 5 days before returning to Vienna and it was no trouble to leave our luggage at the hotel.
When we came back all the staff I spoke to recognised me and greeted me warmly - most knew my name!
I have read the previous reviews with interest. I can see how the glass wall to the bathroom might present some problems for people who don't know each other well. But it's not clear glass and you really can't see anything!
Do yourself a favour - stay at this hotel.

This Hotel is "Happening"... we stayed there in July for the Weekend and really enjoyed ourselves.
Colours everywhere, Technology Comfort (the Beds...Oh my god!!! it shapes itself to your body).
The Spa was nice but the best was the Bar...Damn!
They had a DJ The whole Weekend and the place was packed (Definately the Place to be in Vienna)...
The Staff was amazingly helpful and smiley.
Only downside, the showers tend to flood the Bathroom a little..
We had a marvelous vacation and the Meridien was really a cool hang-out..We'll be back next year.

WOW.... we booked this hotel because of their promotion and were absolutely amazed by its beauty. the Lobby and corridors are good but the room is mind blowing! the Shower and Bathtub are excellent, the Flat TV made my boyfriend jealous and the bed was just like heaven.
For a trendy place, we found this hotel very comfortable and classy, one could think it is only for young clients but we saw a lot of older guys (we are in our thirties).
The staff was super and always smiley..
Will definately stay here again!

I stayed for one night last week when they were fully booked.
The rooms are excellent, very clean and modern. However they are still practical. The bathroom doors are frosted glass, however I don't find this a problem as the majority of people who will stay in this kind of hotel are single travellers or married couples.
I have found the staff to be excellent and very attentive. I was impressed when on passing my table in the bar the barman asked if I wanted some more fruit juice in my cocktail as I hadn't drank very much. It was fine - I am a very slow drinker!
The hotel lobby is full of modern art and the hotel will probably not appeal to the very traditional. However the traditionalists have their pick of hotels, Bristol, Sacher, Grand etc so I'm happy the Meridien caters to a different clientale. If modern is your preference, this is the best hotel in Vienna for you!

This has got to be the most luxurious hotel in Vienna. Stunning modern design throughout but without sacrificing comfort. And what comfort!
The beds and pillows have entered the annals of history with my husband and I. Never have we slept better. In fact they inspired us to go out and blow a fortune on a new goose down duvet and pillows when we got home! A little lounging chair in the bedroom was almost equal bliss in the comfort stakes. All the details of this hotel stand out in sharp relief from other rivals - the delicious Hermes soap and dinky design of the glass walls in the bathroom, the wonderful power shower; the tasty breakfast in the morning; the friendly and helpful staff. All I can say is that if you're planning on staying here, I'm deeply envious..

Top Local Tips for Vienna
The Giant Ferris Wheel and Cantino's Check out the Riesand Giant Ferris Wheel. It was constructed in 1897 and you can still ride in it. Don't worry. It was quite a sturdy machine and it was a wonderful way to see the city view of Vienna. Also, check out the restaurant Cantino's. It's on the upper floor of the Haus Der Musik and was absolutely wonderful! Romantic too!
The White Chimney Sweep You must go to this restaurant if you can - pricey (we paid 142 euros) but really lovely food, rivals many of the best london restaurants. The name is german, this is the translation.
A little bit of reseach helps! I spent a little bit of time on sites like wikitravel and rough guide fnding out the best, cheapest and most authentic things to eat and places to eat at. Didn't have a bad meal all trip!
