Great location, warm atmosphere, helpful staff

We stayed in apartment 306 which had a double bed with full bathroom downstairs and a single bed, sitting area, and bathroom with shower upstairs. Lots of storage room. Hotel staff could not have been nicer. Rooms were quaint but very clean. Bathrooms were totally modern and sparkling. Breakfasts were delightful.
Location was fantastic with St. Stephan's just around the corner.
There were not many internet cafes in Vienna. Internet access was quite a hike away from the hotel. However, calls to the US from the hotel phone were a real bargain.
Would be happy to stay in this place over and over again.

What a wonderful hotel!

My sister, mother and aunt stayed at the Hotel Konig Von Ungarn from April 20th until April 28th and we all thought it was wonderful. Our two rooms were next to each other and were clean and bright, and each bathroom was spotless.

The location of the hotel is perfect - you really are just steps from the main plaza and church, and walking streets and many many restaurants and shops.

The hotel breakfast buffet was good and eggs were offered each morning (cooked however you wanted them).

Everyone at the hotel was friendly and the front desk people were very helpful in planning day trips, recommending restaurants, making reservations, etc.

I most definitely will stay here again when I return to Vienna.

Following on from a splendid trip made during Advent 2003, we decided to go for broke and spend Christmas 2004 back in Vienna. Having enjoyed our first stay at the KVU - Vienna's oldest hotel - we decided to book once more and were delighted we did so. But believe me, familiarity doesn't have to breed contempt. The staff were as welcoming as ever, the breakfasts as delicious as ever and the bar's non- alcoholic cocktails a thing of beauty...a lovely treat at the end of the day for children and adults alike! The small scale of the establishment really does accentuate that personal touch. As it was Christmas, our evening dish of hand made chocolates and biscuits - left in the room each night - were supplemented by the sudden appearance of our own little Christmas tree festooned with beautifully wrapped confectionary decorations. For its size there can't be a nicer or better positioned hotel in the city, and I doubt whether a family of four will find a nicer apartment room anywhere.

My wife and I have just returned from four nights at the Konig and I can't think of a more suitable hotel in Vienna. It has old world charm, great atmosphere, excellent service and a very convenient location. The rooms are extra large, quiet and very attractively decorated. The restaurant is excellent and there is a special menu in your room just for hotel guests - an excellent value with exceptional traditional choices. One word of caution, if you are ordering bacon with your eggs in the morning - make sure you order the bacon fried or you will get it raw. If you are making a reservation off-season ask for special rates. For a touch of elegant old Vienna - you will love this hotel.

A great place for a weekend

A very central hotel, only metres from Saint Stefan's cathedral. Very handy for all the shops and restaurants. The hotel itself is quiet with little traffic noise, considering its central location. It is built around a central courtard which has been covered over and now serves as a bar. The rooms are nicely decorated with modern bathrooms. Housekeeping is of a high standard as is service generally. The breakfast room can get crowded at busy times and so it is better to have breakfast served in your room at no extra cost. This is a quality hotel, centrally located with good service and reasonable prices!

We stayed five nights at the Konig Von Ungarn and were delighted. The room was spacious and exceptionally quiet for being in the center of the old city. Service was excellent. We were able to walk nearly everywhere we wanted from the hotel.

Have just returned from staying at this hotel (October 04) and would recommend it to other Vienna visitors.
Situated in good location, in Inner Ring, close to cathedral.
Rooms are large, clean and with spacious bathrooms.
Hotel has wonderful enclosed courtyard seating / bar area for relaxing and drinks.
Staff are helpful without being imposing.

My favorite hotel

This is my favorite hotel in the world. I just returned from my third stay there. I love Vienna and I love this hotel. The location is second to none. The rates are reasonable for the quality you recieve. The rooms are all unique and attractive. However, the thing that always blows me away are the bathrooms. They are the cleanest, most sparkling, spotless bathrooms I've ever seen anywhere, any time. All Marble and white tile...unbelievable! The front desk has always been responsive for me, and the new consierge was right on the money with all his recommendations. You throw in a superb breakfast and it just doesn't get any better! Highly recommended.

My family just returned from 3 nights in Vienna. We were very happy with the Konig von Ungarn. Incredibly, every member of the
hotel staff was extremely helpful and cheerful. The rooms were very comfortable (excellent air-conditioning), spacious and well-appointed. A full breakfast buffet is included in the room tariff or one can choose room service at no extra cost. If only all hotels were this wonderful and so fairly priced!

Another fan of Hotel Konig Von Ungarn...location was ideal. The room was very comfortable and elegant. One of the nicest bathrooms I've seen in a hotel. We would definitely stay there again.

Top Local Tips for Vienna

Taking your car is viable in Vienna As the public garage near the hotel (KVU) in the middle of Vienna is very reasonable, taking a car is viable and cost effective, you also get to enjoy the drive across Europe

Schonbrunn Palace Book your time you want to tour the palace online ahead of time( need at least 2-3 days for confirmation). And get to the palace 30-45 minutes ahead of that time. You will need all that time to wait in line to get your tickets. If you do not book ahead chances are your tour time for the palace will be 1.5 hours later after your arrival time. However if you manage to get your tickest before your reserved time, you can do your tour at that time. If you miss your time- you are out of luck and have to wait.For example we arrived at the palace at 10 am, waited in line for 1/2 hour and our tour time was 12:02(this is when you can go thru the turnstiles).I had attempted to book for 10:30, but never got my confirmation, if I had we could have done the tour first thing. However we just went outside first, so it all worked out fine. NOTE the line for tickets in the afternoon was thru the courtyard, I bet a lot longer then our 1/2 hour in the morning. This place is crowded, get there early!

easy to use public transprotation Get an all day or five day tube ticket and use the underground system. It is easy, fast, clean and safe. It saves a bundle and gets you to all of the sights in no time.
