Top Local Tips for Vienna

Mozarthaus and Die Fledermaus I first made my reservations over the internet for a concert at the Mozarthaus but when I went to collect my tickets, they told me that our names were not on the list. Thank goodness I brought a copy of the reservations and he had to fit us in somewhere. The hall only had about 6 rows so we still could see the quartet performing from the 4th row. It was a pleasant evening although the quartet could be better as they played pretty roughly and loudly. As for Die Fledermaus, we have learnt to do some research about the opera before attending one. It was mostly talking and since we did not understand German, we could not laugh along with the rest and actually found it boring. A pity...as we paid quite a bit on the tickets.

Don't stay within Ringstrasse Hotels within the Ringstrasse (a circular avenue that houses within in it the centre of Vienna including palaces and museums), are incredibly expensive. Stay 2-3 blacks away and save big.
