We stayed here during christmas 2006. The hotel is very clean and has excellent breakfast. The staff is polite and very helpful.
We used the metro for getting arount and it was very easy, just one station to the centre (you have to walk about 5 minutes from the hotel to the nearest metro station). There are few restaurants near the hotel and some shops for the basic shopping. Over all an excellent vacation in a very nice hotel.

Good value at the holiday Inn

The Holiday inn is a good value tourist hotel not far from the centre of Vienna via u -bahn line 4 using the kettenbruckengasse/naschmarkt station( 300 metres).
The breakfast buffet is very good with a wide selection of items both hot and cold.
Rooms are clean and comfortable with controllable heating, and windows that open if needed.
The staff are very friendly and helpful.
The area seems to lack a range of restaurants but the naschmarket has lots of small cafes for lunches and the centre of vienna has many good dining opportunities.
For good value culture, book sets at the Volksoper (easy to get to via u-bahn.line 4 and 6), and have a preformance open sandwich snack at the cafe opposite the entrance.
If you are going for 3-4 days a Vienna card will be very useful and they can be purchased in the the airport at the infomation desk just beyond the arrivals gate.

Stayed @ this hotel for 1 night... found it a extremely pleasant experience worth a repeat visit.

Rooms and Cleanliness
I had a corner room so it might have appeared larger than the others. Not huge in size but cosy. Bathroom as marbled and rather big! Had the usual amenities and hair dryer! Room was clean and bed though not overall comfortable was adequate.

Breakfast
The buffet breakfast was included in the rate and was of fabulous quality. My husband and myself were not expecting such a sumptuous spread having travelled and stayed in other hotels in Europe prior to this trip. There was a wide selection of cheeses and cold cuts as well as pastries, choices of teas and juices. Even Champagne! All free flow!

Service
Service was good… despite the hotel not having Housekeeping services at all hours.. the receptionist was very accommodating and brought sheets to our room when we requested for a change at around midnight! We appreciated that.

Will definately consider staying @ this place again.
p/s: There's also a convenience store just down the street for just-in-case moments!

was staying in the holiday inn vienna for only one night,
got a room in the garden area, which was really nice, the room was really big, and also the bath.
the service was great, was allowed to do early check in and late check out without paying extra charge.
breakfast cost 15 euro, so i didnt use it, especailly in vienna when u can find so many great bakeries, its a lot of money.
i would love to get back to this hotel in the next time, also located in a nice place, 5 mins walk to the u-bahn (u4).

Great Location for Price

Very good property. I stayed for 2 nights in September, 2006. Easy walking distance to the major sites. I had a single room so was very small but the bathrooms were spacious. Minibars in rooms and English news channels if you look for that. Very clean. Restaurant on-site. I agree with other reviewers that the breakfast buffet was quite crammed but the food was excellent. The only negative I had for this property was the lack of internet in the rooms but there were two internet cafes located within 5 minutes walking distance. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Stamps available for purchase and maps provided free of charge and in several languages. Small grocery market located just up the street.

My kind of Hotel.

With many visits to Vienna I have stayed at hotels ranging from utility type hotels, ie. Ibis to Vienna style whipped cream and fluff interiors. The Holiday Inn was surprisingly perfect.
Priority prepaid rate got an upgrade to a 2 room suite overlooking the courtyard, spotless marble bath,comfortable beds, Euro-modern furniture without clutter, and very affordable.
Also and excellent breakfast although a bit crowded with a tour group from the US on a feeding frenzy.
Hotel staff was wonderful.
A short walk to the U4 with 1 stop to the Ring.
Lots of neighborhood restaurants, grocery stores, and a pharmacy (for those of us who had traveled in India prior to arriving in Vienna).
From now on this will be my hotel of choice in Vienna. A Holiday Inn - who knew.

Excellent Value

Very friendly and accommodating staff. I arrived with some restaurant reviews from magazines. The staff helped with reservations and directions.
In addition to being close to the splendors of the city market, there are grocery stores and other shops close by to pick up things for inexpensive meals between restaurant splurges.
Good location, especially if you don't mind a bit of a walk. I walked to the Opera, Musikverein, and all the other sightseeing spots.
Excellent breakfast buffet -- including champagne if you care to go back to bed!
I chose Holiday Inn's pay-in-advance option, so I had an excellent rate. Rooms are well-tended and comfortable, not a lot of extra space.

Avoid the rooms on the street side

Modern hotel somewhat out of the historical city centre, but still in a lively neigbourhood with several restaurants.
Well situated on a 5 minutes walk from the subway station of Kettenbrückengasse (on the direct line to Palace Schönbrunn and just one stop from the Karlsplatz, where a typical market takes place every day.
Nicely decorated commons, rooms and bathrooms + excellent breakfast buffet.
We had bad luck receiving a room on the street side on the 2nd floor. The first night we both stood up to verify if the window was not open because of the disturbing traffic noise from the street. My wife even slept one night in the bath tub...

Great location - lots of good restaurants very near by, and a pleasant 15 minute walk to the 1st district.

Top Local Tips for Vienna

Cafe Schwarenberg on Schwarenbergstrasse A great place for a meal before a concert at the musik house. It has the best weinersnitzel we've ever eaten and we went back after the concert for coffee. Well worth looking out for. Very reasonable prices too.

Take the train The train from the airport is most convenient. We used our 3 day travelcards for part of the journey and you only have to pay the difference, around 2 Euros to cover the area outside the travelcard zone. This does not apply to the CAT Service.
