Excellent hotel

Excellent hotel, very much at the top level of 4 stars. Room, breakfast, décor etc are all the highest quality. This was my sixth visit to Vienna, but the first time to this hotel, but I will be returning.

A gem of a hotel!

We saw this hotel reviewed on trip advisor with good enough comments and decided to give it a go - wow were we impressed. The reviews we read didn't go far enough in their praise for this gem of a hotel. It is located within 5 minutes walking distance of all the ringstrasse, is beautifully decorated and managed by the nicest staff I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. The ONLY place to stay in Vienna!

This hotel is situated in the most ideal of locations it is at the quiet end of the main newish shopping street in Vienna , a 10 mins walk from the Spittelfield artisan area, 5mins from the Museum Quarter and 10 mins from the smart shops and cafes.
Don't expect fab views as the hotel is wedged between the shops, however it is nicely stylish very clean and the staff couldn't be more helpful. Breakfast was lovely and everything tasted fresh and looked it. All the staff are very smiley and look as though they love their jobs.Combined with all the above it was not expensive, we got a great deal through ebookers but I think this would have been matched had I contacted the hotel direct.Vienna is a perfect place for a short break as there is so much to see and do , but prepare by taking comfy walking shoes .

We were thrilled by our short stay at this amazing little hotel, right in the centre of the action. Although the room was smaller than we expected, that tiny disappointment was more than made up by the excellent quality of the room, the amazing breakfast (easier to list what you can't eat!) and staff that were professional and yet very friendly, no snooty treatment like those jumped up types in some of the larger hotel chains. Our only worry is that everyone else will find out about one of Vienna's best kept little secrets. Will go back as soon as we can!

Great Hotel!

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights, and I wish we could have stayed longer. The room was small but very nicely appointed, and the beds were very comfortable. It is conveniently located within walking distance of the major attractions and public transit. The staff was helpful in getting restaurant reservations. The breakfast buffet was outstanding - great assortment of meats, smoked salmon, and fresh fruit salad.

Fantastic little hotel... charming, very clean, great art work, wonderful room amenities, and a very friendly staff... not to mention the *great* location! The beds were very comfortable (note: the mattress was firm enough for someone with lower back issues). The breakfast, as other people have mentioned, was superb. The miniature candy bars left on our pillows every day was a nice touch. I feel fortunate to have found this hotel... although I should credit those of you who previously posted reviews - I may not have had faith in such a small hotel otherwise.

The Das Tyrol is in a excellent location within walking distance to the all major attractions in the Museum Quartier. The rooms are clean and well decorated. The staff is very helpfull and assisted us with all the needed museum and tour reservations.

The hotel is located in a street with plenty of of shops and restaurants.

We highly recommend the boat tour on the Danube to the city of Melk.

Part of the SLH boutique chain, Das Tyrol was an absolute joy to stay in.

The staff were very friendly and were more than happy to give advice and help out when possible. Despite the "small" label there's a sauna & solarium in the basement.

The decor is fantastic with contemporary artwork in all the corridors and rooms. Our room was fairly small but there were many welcoming touches such as bathrobes, slippers etc. The bathroom was sparkling white and every day the room would be made up faultlessly.

Breakfast (included) was a real bonus. It runs for about 3 hours and there is a vast selection of pastries, cold meats and cooked items. You can even indulge in a glass of Sekt!

The location is superb - ideally located inbetween the busy Mariahilfestasse (big shops) and the cultural Museum Quarter. In terms of bars and restaurants, I'd recommend Die Lutz for a cracking cocktail. Centimeter II is nearby which offers erxcellent value food in a pub setting.

Das Tyrol is definitely value for money and highly recomended to all.

My wife and I stayed at the Tryol for 5 nights and found it perfect. We had a large room (for a Europe hotel), the staff were always friendly and delightful, the room and common areas were clean and well maintained, and the location was very good--within walking distance of the art museum and other sights. There is a subway station very close.

The exterior of the hotel belies how nice the hotel is. If you are looking for a clean, conveniently located, small hotel, Das Tyrol is for you.

We would stay at this hotel again without any reservation.

We spent three nights here at the end of May, and we loved this stylish little hotel. As we were travelling with our 11 year old daughter, we booked one of the junior suites, where an extra bed was made up on the sofa. These corner suites with a small balcony with views to the end of Mariahilfestrasse are spacious for european standards,(adequate for three, but would be very comfortable for two people). They are very light, with high ceilings, and comfortably furnished in attractive colours. Original artworks by contemporary artists hang in all rooms and in the passageway. The bathrooms are clean and crisp in glass, chrome, white tiles and black marble. The beds were very comfortable with nice quality sheets and large European down pillows. This hotel is quite small, it's rooms on five levels, accessed by a fabulous small glass lift (or a bright staircase that winds around the lift). The location is convenient, right on the edge of the Museumsquarter, and a very pleasant stroll through the Museum parks into the old city. The immediade vicinity (Spittelberg) has some excellent restaurants within 5 minutes walking distance of the hotel. (We tried the Witwe Bolte, and the oddly named: Zu Ebener Erde und Erste Stock, both very good).
At the hotel, breakfasts were served in a sunny dining room and were the highlight of the day: hams, cheeses, fruits, yoghurts, fresh breads and pastries with homemade jams, and cooked breakfasts made to order (included in the price).
We booked directly with the hotel a few nights before arriving, and were offered a very good rate.
The staff were curteous, helpful and knowledgable. There is a small sauna/fitness centre in the hotel which we did not use (too much to do in Vienna!) We would definitely stay here again.

Top Local Tips for Vienna

The Cafes!! Loose weight before you go as you will be tempted by the lovely coffee and cake shops.Make sure you visit DEMEL the best in the Kholmarket. Other good ones are Cafe Central ,and Cafe Mozart.Beware if you find the little vennaschnitzel ( however you spell it!!) restuarant in a small passage way near the cathedral, the portions overhang the plate!! !But they are delicious!

Pub Looking for good pub food and beer? Try the nearby 7 Stern Brau on Siebensternstrasse. Beer brewed on the premises and food cheap and tasty.

Leopold Museum Check out the Leopold Museum which has a great collection of works done by artitst in the first half of the 20th century. Its an interesting space with very approachable and enjoyable art. The collection is not huge, so its really just an hour or so to get through it. Great cafe for a coffee, pastry or more when you are ready for a break.
