I stayed at the Artis as part of a Cosmos 10 day tour of Austria, Czech Republic and Hungary. The hotel is on a busy road but this can be good and bad. You can sometimes hear the traffic from your room. However it has easy access to the centre. Take tram 71 to the Ringstrasse and catch a tram 1 or tram 2. There were grocery stores and restaurants nearby. An internet cafe just down the street. Satellite TV CNN and hairdryer.

I have just been staying for 13 nights at the Artis Hotel as an individual traveller in connection with an international congress. The hotel was full of tours and not a suitable place to work as a congress member. Vienna was hot during those 13 days, and the room I had was hight up in the building with the sun baking on the facade. The window could hardly be opened (according to the regulations, I was told at the reception), and there was no shutters or any other kind of shade. And of course no air-conditioning. The result was an unbearably hot room, for which I was charged 124 Euro per night. I will never stay at the Artis Hotel again!
