Historical Traveller Reviews of Hotel Sacher Salzburg

As good as all the reviews!

from sandip_k
The hotel is all that the previous reviewers have said, and more. The food in all the restaurants is outstanding. Special mention must be made of the nightly turn down service, with the chocolates, the TV guide opened to the relevant page, and the TV remote strategically placed by your bedside, the TV tilted at the correct angle for a good viewing position. It was small details like these which made our stay memorable.

Best hotel in fabulous city!

from blubs99
Just spent three nights at Sacher Salzburg. Best location in town, right across river from old town with outstanding views of old town and fortress. The walk across the river justs takes one minute.

We were upgraded by the very friendly staff to room 331. It's a corner room with balcony facing the river with amazing views. It's the only corner room in the hotel with a balcony which was very nice to sit and enjoy the view.

The health club in the basement is nice and there is a small steam, sauna & gigantic waterfall shower. I went down there every day.

Breakfast was included and was outstanding. Service by the entire staff was exceptional.

highly recommended!

The best hotel in Salzburg

We decidid to go to Sacher Salzburg as a result of the reviews we had already read on this sight and I have to say it was everything we were told it would be and more. We were given a very warm welcome. We arrived in the evening and the bed was turned down in our room and chocolate on our pillow which occured every night after. Our room was spotlessly clean and towels(changed daily), a dressing gown, slippers and toiletries were all providid. The food was out of this world, with a choice of three different restaurants, and the breakfast was a buffet with everything you could possible want catered for. There is even a coffee shop that sells every coffee combination possible and delicious cakes. The staff were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. They arranged trips for us to go on, a bus route when we wanted to explore and told us the best places to go and places to avoid. We were even waved off at the door on our departure. You do need plenty of money for the restaurants, coffee shop etc but that can be said about Salzburg in general and believe me it is well worth the money, you will be spoilt and pampered if you choose this hotel.

Perfect place to stay in Salzburg!

My mom and I recently stayed at the Hotel Sacher! The loaction is ideal, just walk over the bridge and you are in the heart of Salzburg. Our room had a view of the river, city and the fortress; it honestly matched the view I saw on many postcards! The hotel is clean and our "chamber maid" would check in with us to ask when we would like our room cleaned. She even hung up my coats I left on the chair and arranged my pajamas on my bed in a fun way. We were given a vast variety of fresh fruit in the room along with suggestions of what to do in the town. To top it off, you are given a small famous Sacher Torte on the first night of your stay. I would stay here again on my next visit to Salzburg!!

Creme de la Creme

My wife and I spent a night here in January 2005. The rooms are large
and decor classic with Chocolates on arrival and cakes at bed turn down.
We enjoyed breakfast in our room and and had a great meal in the cafe.
All round the service was second to none.

Well Worth It!!

The hotel was beautiful, the location was perfect and the buffet breakfast was very well stocked with classic European Breakfast Cuisine. I would recommend highly. My only negative comment would be of the aloof front desk staff.

I have just returned from a wonderful stay at the Hotel Sacher. We arrived early, 10:30am and were checked in straight away into a fabulous room with a balcony. The room was spacious with a sitting area, king size bed, working area and large bathroom.
The rate we paid was €179 per night including tax and breakfast. This was the special 'Sacher & The City' rate.
The hotel bar is nice and cosy, and the food in the main restaurant was excellent. We also ate at the Grill restaurant attached and had the famous Sacher burger - probably one of the best I have ever tasted and only €7.
We also visited the Sacher Cafe and had the Sacher Torte and amazing hot chocolate!
The hotel is located on the river next to the main bridge and only a 5 minute walk from the old town.
You will have a wonderful time in this city if you are planning on visiting. The city is very compact and has excellent shopping, sights and markets.
Make sure you wrap up warm - the weather is very cold at the moment.

Loved it Here!

My husband and I stayed at the Sacher for 3 nights in early September. Our package included an upgrade to a Superior room and breakfast. The room was spacious, nicely furnished, and very clean. The bathroom was well-equipped and very clean. The room was individually temperature controlled with A/C which came in handy since it was warm in Salzburg during our stay. We had a nice view of the fort and river. The nightly turn-down service was nice and included a mini Sacher torte on our pillow the first night and chocolate on subsequent nights. The extensive breakfast buffet was wonderful. It included hot meats, cold meats, scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, cheeses, fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, breads, and all kinds of pastries. We loved the Sacher and would definitely stay here again.

lovely stay, great location.

Stayed here in July 2004. The room was very spacey, clean and nicely decorated. We put in a request when booking the room for a view of the fort and we got this and it was lovely. The bathroom was also quite roomy. The first night we stayed here when we came back into the room at night we found the bed had been turned down and a small sacher torte cake was on each of the pillows accompanied with slippers at the side of the bed. This made us feel very special and was a lovely touch. Breakfast buffet was excellant and service was first class. Location of hotel was right in the heart of everything. A very pleasant stay in a lovely city. Would recommend this hotel to everyone.

t wait to go back !

My perfect hotel ! Only stayed one night but had a lovely room with a balcony overlooking the river. The room was a generous size and was equipped with every necessity - especially loved the slippers ! All the staff were attentive and friendly. We had the delicious Sacher Torte in the cafe and ate in the Grill bar in the evening, all the food was first class.

Will definately be going back...
