Bad Hofgastein from Salzburg You can get a bus from just across the road from the airport terminal into Salzburg centre. The best bus is the No 2 or for a slightly longer journey, the No 27. You can pay on the bus and I think it was about E2pp.The bus stops at the main bus station which is also just in front of the train station. Trains run directly to Bad Hofgastein approximately every 2 hours. You can pre-book your ticket in the UK by going to the Austrian railways website - www.oebb.at. You will get a print-out confirming your reservation. This is all you need to show the conductor on the train. Otherwise, you can pay at the train station. The train fare was about £25pp return. When you arrive at Bad Hofgastein DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE AS US. You will find a local bus waiting outside the train station - GET ON IT! It takes about 30 minutes to walk into Bad Hodgastein which is not fun when you're loaded down with bags! The bus fare is E1pp.
