Top Local Tips for San Jose

Taxi's According to the hotel concierge, the taxi (the ones that say "Turismo" on the side, not the metered taxi's) from Hotel Balmoral to the international airport is supposed to cost you $18. My brother and I got ripped off by one of these guys when we were charged $20 to be driven to another part of town (Little America) but we were tired and very hungry so we didn't care. Take the metered cabs though.

Easily accessible Purchase your essentials at the nearby supermarkets or the local market place. prices are quite reasonable.

Spoon Restaurant/Coffee shop Nice variety in menu for a good price.Leave main hotel entrance.Turn left . Walk 1 or 2 blocks. For souvenirs at great price,leave main hotel entrance,turn right walk a couple of blocks to the artisans flea market.The best price in town. Take a jacket with you during the months of june -july (rainy season with cool weather,specially during the evening.
