Top Local Tips for Quepos

Air You can drive to Quepos in about 3-4 hours from San Jose or you can take a public bus in about 5-6 hours or you can fly from SJO to Quepos in about 20 minutes. Sansa, a regional affiliate of Taca air, operates several flights per day from the international airport. Nature Air flies from San Jose's old airport across town to Quepos but upon your arrival in the country that means a transfer of airports. From the main terminal at Juan Santa Maria Airport walk down to your left, down the sidewalk to the end of the block, Sansa is in an old, low-slung building set back from the street. They mainly fly Cessna Grand Caravans. They are always late but will get you there safely.

Extra Time To/From Quepos/Manuel Antonio From reading posts previous to our trip, it appears that IN GENERAL the roads are improving in Costa Rica. However, there are two rickety bridges near this area that are the only entry/exit points. These bridges are in terrible shape and we heard a few stories about delays at the bridges during construction - up to 3.5 hours in one case! They are building new bridges parallel to the old ones so some day this will no longer be an issue.
