Puntarenas - watch for scam artists In Puntarenas, we encountered a scam artist at the ferry. He was trying to give us "help" with the ferry. It was obvious what he was up to, but then he actually tried to open our back door and get in our car (luckily it was locked). We drove away, but then a local told us that he tries to "help" tourists but then just steals whatever he can. Beware!

Curu (sp?) and Tortuga There is a island and state park near Tambor. Also island named Tortuga. Check them out.

Tours The snorkelling on Tortuga island is below average / and the island is crowded with visitors. They even charged us to use the toilet and while my son was on the toilet knocked to tell me that I am using too much time. Don't waste your money. Other people at the hotel who went on the tour was also disappointed. Curu Wildlife Centre is another tour you can miss without regretting it - it is an old hacienda and really not worth the effort or even the money. Taxis are expensive so remember to rather book a rented car through the US website / as the hotel is fa away from anything
