Physical exertion at Poas Volcano National Park The path up to the amazing crater is paved so you can push a stroller or wheelchair. It requires physical exertion! There is "moderate climbing" required to reach beautiful Botos Lake via an unpaved, steep uphill and downhill path with steps. If you are an athletic hiker, you'll do fine; if you are physically active, you will survive it; if not, don't attempt the Botos Lake trail. We are glad we didn't try to carry our toddlers to the lake, as it was hard enough to get ourselves there.
Warm clothing & visiting volcano Bring some warmer clothing with you as this area is slightly cooler than the rest of costa Rica. Also, due to ever hovering cloud sometimes it is difficult/impossible to get good or any view of the volcano!!!...
Cloudy The Poas Volcano is covered by clouds 70% of the time. However, the park offers some beautiful hiking trails and its worth the trip!
