My husband and I just returned from a trip to Belize and Honduras with my brother and his wife. We were at 5 different properties during our trip and Laru Beya was our favorite. (Hacienda San Lucas, Copan Ruinas, Honduras was a very close second - will post a separate review for them.)

When we arrived, were greeted at the Placencia airstrip by Pop, who proceeded to take us into town, show us around and even wait for us while we bought groceries. When we arrived at the property, we were shown to our fabulous 2 bedroom villa right on the beach. (I am talking less than 50 feet from the water, with a deck that would knock your socks off!) Our kitchen looked like something straight out of Better Homes and Gardens and the great room was nicely decorated and comfy. I still cannot believe how reasonably priced it was.

As wonderful as the room and rest of the property were, what was even more impressive was the way we were treated by the staff and management. Pop is great. A super nice guy who told us all about the area, offered suggestions on what to do while we were there and took us anywhere we wanted to go at no charge. Lina was so patient as she explained all kinds of options for tours and booked a last minute snorkeling trip for us with a boat that came right up to the beach in front of our room to pick us up. Debbie is a saint who went out of her way to make us feel at home without being the least bit obtrusive.

These people really get it! I am blown away and just cannot say enough good things about them. They really and truly are some of the most genuinely warm and friendly people I have ever met at a hotel/resort! We liked it so much, we are already planning a return trip for this November.

If you want pretentious and hoity toity, go to Turtle Inn or Robert's Grove. If you want a memorable vacation at a beautiful place whose staff will treat you like family, Laru Beya is the REAL DEAL!

Laru Beya is awesome. We stayed in a oceanfront room, that had our own balcony with two hammocks and chairs. The unit was huge with a livingroom, kitchen, bedroom, and huge bathroom. Every night we went to sleep to the sound of the waves. Perfect! If a penthouse unit with a jacuzzi is available, book it! ...there were none available for us.

There is a restaurant and bar on-site that we ate at once and that was great. The drinks are awesome. Especially the frozen rum punch! Also, Habeneros, across the street, is soooo good!!!

The hobie, cats, windsurfers, kayaks, and bikes are all free to use which was alot of fun. The pool is also nice. One day we biked into town but it is too far and hot to be enjoyable. We took a taxi back! Laru Beya will give you rides in town up until 7 or 8 pm.

All in all this place is awesome. Everyone that worked there was so nice and helpful. One night the security guard even walked us to the village so that we would be safe! The village is a little sketchy at night. The town is not though, there are more tourists there.

My husband and I did a total of 3 weeks in Belize. Laru Beya was our 2nd stop and we were only planning on staying for 5 days...well that was not long enough- so we stayed for 2 more.
We had the penthouse deluxe with the roof top jacuzzi and the room, bed, bathroom view, resturant , bar and people was just spectcular. We loved everything about the hotel.
The food was amazing and so were the drinks. Everything was well priced and you never had to blink an eye to get anything.

The pool and beach were awesome. The hotel has hobbie cats, kayaks and more to use and they are FUN!!

The hotel itself it really a further walk than what we had thought- we actually tried when it was 35' celcius out- Too hot to walk a few miles- plus the main road is very dusty.
A quick cab will take you into town or the hotel was great about driving you in.

We loved everything about this week- this was our favorite place in all of Belize. It was just busy enough and at the same time not too busy. The town is a great little town with some great resturants and bars.

We would recommend it- especially the roof top jacuzzi with that amazing ocean breeze!!

We stayed on the top floor of the four-unit plex. View was outstanding. Staff was great any request was handled. Set up two fishing and snorkeling trips -- everyone just love them. We had our catch prepared for us at the restaurant-- my wife use to be a chef; she loved how they prepared our catch. The pool and the bar are great, hobbies, kayak and bikes are provided as well. We plan to go back next year

This is a wonderful resort that has it all. The rooms are magnificent and very wonderfully equipped. You can enjoy the convenience of your own full kitchen. The decorating is magnificent. The pool is beautiful and the newly added restaurant makes it convenient if you are just too tired to cook. The staff is extremely polite and always ready to help. Add in the beauty of the beach, which is raked and maintained daily. The price is extremely fair and you can enjoy the seclusion or have the Laru Beya vans drive you into the village for awhile. The staff is also helpful in arranging fishing, snorkeling or jungle tours. Great resort for a great vacation!!

We had a wonderful time at Laru Beya. The rooms are very spacious and clean. Our room had a beautiful ocean view. The hotel provides kayaks, hobicat (sailboats), bikes and windsurfers (Pop will help you with the sailing equipment). Robert, the hotel manager, made our stay very enjoyable. We recommend this place highly.

My wife and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary in Placencia. Laru Beya was the perfect resort. The manager, Robert, was wonderful. He made sure that we had everything we needed and was the perfect host. The property is luxurious, clean, and very comfortable. We spent 10 days there (from September 13 to 23, 2006) and didn't want to leave. Robert made us feel at home away from home and we were very greatful for that. He arranged a wonderful day excursion up the Monkey River for us and drove us to the pier and picked us up afterwards. I cannot imagine going back to Placencia and not staying at Laru Beya. I would highly recommend the resort to anyone who wants great, friendly service and who wants to spend a wonderful stay in a great , well-managed resort. You won't be disappointed.

My girlfriend and I were able to enjoy this GORGEOUS new luxury resort for three days in late March. We have Belizian friends who gave us the recommendation and let me tell you they were spot on! The owner Ian put together a specacular facility and the staff, led by operating manager Sandara was attentive, polite, and very gracious. The location is perfect, with the more touristy locations close, but not too close. Evenings were quiet even at full occupancy, and sunsets to die for. I MUST RECOMMEND either of the 2 penthouses! Unfortunately, they were booked throughout our stay, but we did get a chance to take in a sunset from the rooftop hot tub. Laru Beya was the tallest building as far as I could see, thus providing sweeping views of the ocean AND THE BAY. Upon check in my girlfriend Katie cried when we were shown our accomodations. I'd let the pictures speak for themselves.... but they are all 6 Mp. I'll never stay anywhere else in Placencia, PERIOD.

We had a great time staying at the Laru Beya. The staff were very friendly. They were helpful in making us comfortable at the resort and planning our activities in Belize. They also gave us great recommendations on restaurants in Placencia. I would highly recommend Laru Beya to anyone looking for a relaxing place to stay while enjoying some Belizean sunshine & adventure.

My husband and I stayed at Laru Beya on Placencia Feb. 06. This resort just opened in Jan. Took a chance and hit a homerun,
It was the best resort we have stayed at in the caribbean. The location is about 5 miles north of the village nextdoor to Roberts. Medium sized right on the beach.
Swiming pool,windsurfing,sailboats,kayaks,all at no extra charge. The place is beautiful.
Rooms are large well appointed with a/c and fans.We had a jr. villa with kitchen,livingroom,bedroom and 2 sink bath with walkin shower.Deck off living and bed room,50 feet to sea.$175 per night.
The staff is super friendly and helpful.
