Burial Grounds - A mission in helping others There is an extremely impoverished neighborhood in Belize City called the burial grounds. You dont have a clue of poverty until you have seen the conditions these people live in. The people that call this area home are some of the nicest people I have met around the world. Their neighborhood is built on a swamp. They have no indoor plumbing. Their sidewalks consisst of pallets nailed together to form bridges above the swamp land. I went with a group that has been working in this area for over a decade. They have been instrumental in getting dirt brought in for roads, re-building houses, building a church that doubles as a hurricane shelter, etc. They had started construction on a school when I was there. If your church group or you individually are ever looking to do some good in the world, I would say this is a great place to start.
