make sure you get the jeep or samaurai you guys better skip the car and get a soft top jeep or samaurai. pack a cooler and kayak, and take the long drive past coral bay, lots of great beaches there but you have to kick in the 4x4.

This is a ANtional Park ?!?!? Don't expect park rangers to be present or give programs. Very disappointed in the lack of a ranger at this location and for programs offered. You're on your own uless you want to pay to go somewhere.

extra tips When departing - you will go through customs on the VI side of the boarder before boarding the plane, so if you are an international traveler, even if you have a green card, make sure to come early. We were delayed 2 hours with FBI checks. Things to do - definitely see Waterlemon Bay and swim to and around the Cay there, also salt pond and honeymoon beaches were my favorite snorkel spots. The Reef bay hike is great but if you are in poor physical condition you may want to book a trip with the park service so all you do is hike down through the trail and then they pick you up in a boat and take you to Cruz bay.The ruins at Reef Bay are interesting. Skinny Legs in Coral bay is a great burger joint. Rhumb Lines is a great restaurant in Cruz bay. Water is safe to drink from the faucet, but the bottled water is less chlorinated (bottled on St. John anyway). Hitchhike as much as you can! Get 5+ people and arrange trip with taxi driver to and from locations, they'll even stop for lunch!
