I just returned from my honeymoon at the Grace Bay Club. The resort was nice, but the service was horribly disappointing. We arrived and were not told anything about our meal plan, or our prepaid excursions. When we inquired about them, the staff seemed clueless and hasseled by the experience. They repeatedly disappointed us, and I will not stay here again.

Very Dissapointing

What a huge dissapointment. For US$1000.00 a night; the level of service and general facilities offered at this hotel left a lot to be desired. Like another trip advisor, we tend to frequent places recommened in Small leading hotels of the world, but Grace Bay Club was far below the standard that we are used to. I cannoy understand why Conde Naste have had it on their gold list for the last 10 years.
If you like to be left to your own devices and aren't a serivce orientated person then this is the place for you. The rooms, all suites, have a good sized kitchen and are large enough to make it feel like your own apartment. But if you like the odd bit of room service, a mini bar and generally to feel that if you want something then you only need to ask, I don't think this would be the place for you.
I can only echo other people's words when I say that service is not high on the agenda. The staff are more happy chatting to each other. From the moment we pulled up to the resort I think I knew that it was not what I had been expecting and with all the construction work going on (leaving a nice fine dust over breakfast and lunch crockery and cultery) at least for the majority of this year, I think that the resort will be further spoilt.
Food was alright, nothing amazing. Breakfast a buffet affair, again nothing out of the ordinary. Gym is a 15 minute walk away, not 5 as the woman on the front desk had said. Basically our overriding impression is that this is an aparthotel, geared for people who are going to cook for themselves and want to be left alone, therefore, spas, gyms, room service and restaurants aren't high on their priority list. Just a nice beach (which it is) and good views out to sea, which all the rooms have.
I would go to Parrot Cay, it is FANTASTIC!!! We had 7 days there first and if I had known what GBC was like sooner I would have stayed at Parrot Cay...

The BEST VACATION EVER!!

This small and cozy resort made us feel like kings and queens as never before. The attention received from the general manager himself was incredible! He welcomed every guests at check-in and ensured all our wishes were carried out perfectly! The staff too was incredible! Always wanting to help and do something special!! We felt like we were part of a small and wonderful family - we can't wait to go back!!

A fabulous experience

We just returned from what can only be described as a fabulous vacation. The Grace Bay Club was everything we had desired. It was beautiful, elegant, friendly and most of all relaxing. I had read several undesireable reviews on here before we left and I must say I was quite skeptical. I have nothing but positive things to report. From start (airport transfer) to finish every attention to detail was paid.
The suite was lovely with 2 large bathrooms, enormous kitchen (for a hotel) and beautiful ocean views. The maid service (twice a day) was wonderful. The beautiful touches in the room (especially on Valentine's day) did not go unnoticed.
The staff at the hotel was friendly but not intrusive. Carol at the desk was very helpful with dinner reservations (and they would shuttle you to and from each night.) Carlos on the beach had my chair ready with extra towels as soon as I came down each morning. They brought Evian, fruit skewers and ice cream during the day. The breakfast buffet was nice, the muffins were the highlight. Beverly was such a friendly face each morning.
The beach is gorgeous, it is just a shame that they are doing so much construction, (Grace Bay included).
My greatest fear is that the resort will lose it's intimacy with the addition of the new rooms (and the addition of children)
A great part of the success must be attributed to the hotel manager (Nikkeel) He was a huge part of the feeling of the hotel and was the most charming manager I ever have come in contact with. He always had a smile and always greeted you by name. I would hate to see the resort without him there.

Grace Bay Club is total paradise - from the moment we arrived to the sad afternoon when we left. Everything was so carefully taken care of - the staff were always happy to see us - and somehow remembered our name - sorbet, fruits, evian and magazines were served to us on the beach by the friendliest staff ever! PERFECT! We will be back!!!!

A True Disappointment

I recently returned from a six night stay at The Grace Bay Club and was disappointed from the munute I arrived on the island. The promised airport pick-up was a rude taxicab driver who made it seem as though he was doing us a big favor by doing his job. The one thousand dollar a night room had unmade beds and an unflushed toilet full of excrement upon arrival. The service is stand-offish at best, the lobby looks like a shack with a few couches inside, and the sounds of construction surround you all day whether you're on the beach or sitting in your room as they are adding an additional fifty rooms to the hotel.
I have stayeed at many fine resorts around the world and would have to say that this was the biggest waste of money ever. I visited Parrot Cay Resort and would highly recommend that hotel over Grace Bay Club to anyone debating between the two properties.

a true gem!

This property is a gem. Small, intimate, and an incredible level of service. There is a true sense of privacy and relaxation. We've stayed at 5 star resorts around the world, and this property could go toe to toe with any one of them. We stayed here during the last week of October, 2004 and everything was perfect, from the room to the beach to the staff. Large, clean well furnished suites have sweeping views of the ocean, two bathrooms, a full kitchen and living room, and huge verandas overlooking the ocean. Twice daily maid service is a great plus. The staff (from the hotel manager to the reception area) couldn't be any friendlier (without being intrusive) and they truly cater to your every need. One kind gentleman even fixed my sunglasses!
The beach is gorgeous, powdery, white sand that stretches for miles in each direction. We think it's one of the most beautiful beaches in the carribean, if not the world. [Presently, there is quite a bit of construction on the island, including additions to the Grace Bay Club. We truly hope this does not change the character of the island and this resort]. The staff brings you Evian with your beach chair and towel. Each afternoon, complimentary, home made sorbet is delivered to you on the beach or at the pool. The afternoon tea is just lovely, and a welcome break from the sun.
Anacaondo, the restaurant, was phenomenal. Breakfast each morning there was a large buffet was many options, including fresh fruit, fresh baked pastry and yogurt. Dinner was also divine, a true culinary delight. The staff remembers your preferences and brings you what you need without even having to ask.
The hotel runs a complimentary shuttle to restaurants and resorts in the area, and provides complimentary service to and from the airport. We can't wait to return to the Grace Bay Club!

Most beautiful water and beaches, BUT

Let me start by saying that the beaches were probably the most gorgous that we have ever seen. Our original trip to Punta Cana Secrets Excellence had been cancelled so we paid pretty much top dollar for top floor and top service for this trip. Our arrival went fairly smoothly except for a delay of taxi to the resort and that we had to handle our own baggage. Once we arrived check in was still just ok. Had been promised a champayne greeting but cold water and rum punch were all that was offered and a cold wet unscented towel. Let one be warned that the Turks are undergoing a lot of construction and is not a big island or offers a lot of activities. We were eager however for the relaxation. There is no longer a casino on the island as the Allegro has been torn down while we were there. Night life is pretty calm also. I would recommend hooking up with Captain Bill, the hotel bar tender for his Thursday night out on the town. He hits all the bars. You only stay about 30 to 45 minutes at each one so you can get most of them in one night out. He also provides the transportation in his great truck. He starts ( his truck) with a screw driver! All that can fit, there is even a seat in the bed of the truck. Food was generally good, however if you are a lobster lover, the island does not serve ANY doing certain months, maybe May, June, July, and August. They export all and it is against the law to serve. The rooms are two levels and very spacious. Has a full kitchen and I advise a trip to the IGA for some snacks and drinks as things are rather pricey at the hotel. Thats not to say that the grocery store was cheap, but better. Be pleased to give more details about other eating locations on the island if you e-mail me. We went somewhere different everyday for dinner. Now the spa, well the location and room needs a lot of improvements. Only two treatment rooms and if hot outside the couple massage is done in the lobby. Not quite romantic and nothing fancy about the spa. Have been to a lot better but the services and girls there, Toyna, Rachel and Emma were great. The products used were also very good. I will probably return someday, maybe 10 years, I believe that it will take that long to get some of the construction gone. Beaches were still just out of this world and the most gorgous I have ever seen. Good luck wherever your travels take you.

Poor service

We sent this hotel an e-mail requesting information about reservations. They never responded. We figured this reflected the level of poor customer service we might receive if we went there, so we avoided them and went elsewhere. Suggest you do the same.

Very Disappointed

We like to stay at "Small Luxury Hotels", which is the reason we chose the Grace Bay Club. But for the price they charge per night, it was a huge disappointment. The food & service was mediocre at best.

The ocean front suite we had was clean & spacious, but the layout was very odd. They had a very comfortable bed in where the sitting area should have been and the couch up on a second floor that no one would use. Therefore, if you wanted to watch TV comfortably, you had to sit or lay on the bed.

They really need to work on the staff to be more warm, friendly and helpful. We felt a lot of the staff (not all) was quite cool and indifferent. They spent a lot of the time, just standing around talking to each other, instead of taking care of the guests. I could go on and on with more examples, but that would take too much time and space.

Grace Bay beach is fabulous, but I would look elsewhere such as the Alexandra Resort for better service, food and value for the dollar.

Top Local Tips for Providenciales

Taxis Most restuarants and shops we went to are in the Grace Bay Area. The hotel was easily able to arrange taxis for us for no more than $10 for the two of us.

Great Restaurants With all of the development on Provo there seems to be a demand for high quality restaurants which is great. We particularly liked Coyaba (very romantic) and Magnolias (great view of the harbor)

LOOK BEFORE YOU LEAP there is a lot of construction and building up of the island and you should GRILL them to see if they are undergoing construction ANYWHERE on the property or if NEIGHBORING properties are undergoing construction - get it in writing because this is not what they want to tell you!!!
