Long Wait for Taxis Call well in advance for your taxi and use only licensed taxis. Tobago has only one North American style taxi service located near the Coco Reef Hotel, other wise use the cars with a license plate starting with H - these are licensed taxis. Be clear about where you are going and ask the price before you get into the vehicle.

Departing from Tobago Please please get to the airport hours and hours before your flight - the check in desks are limited and we took 2 and a half hours to check in . Standing outside in the heat is no fun at all and there are limited places to get a take away drink or snack outside the airport. We flew Virgin Atlantic and got to check in at 4 30 and only managed to check in at about 7 pm and then had to rush off to the plane. Duty free is tiny on the other side so dont leave all your shopping for there ! Trinidad airport is much larger and has more faclilties ! If you can do internet check in do it - or a lot of the big hotels do your bag check in for you and then drop it at the airport and you a little later ! GOOD GOOD idea !!
