Perfect Vacation at Grand Case Beach Club

We stayed at the GCBC the week of Oct 25th and can't say enough about how much we enjoyed the experience. We had an oceanview with loft and the view from the balcony was simply breathtaking. Several evenings we brought back a lobster dinner from the "Lolos" on the beach and a bottle of very drinkable French Sauvignon blanc ($2.70) from the corner store and had a sunset dinner on the balcony. Great restaurants in Grand Case, an easy walk. Le Cottage and Il Nettuno were exceptional.
We rented a car for $25/day and drove completely around the island over the course of 3 days. It just confirmed for us that GCBC was the best place to be. We had several dinners at the Sunset Cafe on the property.
The food was great and if there is a better oceanfront location on the island we didn't see it. The staff were uniformly friendly and service-oriented and the place just felt right. My wife and I are fairly well travelled and normally prefer to go to a new place each time. We'll make an exception in this case. Can't wait to go back.

St. Martin was fabulous. We visited the Dutch side a year before on a cruise ship and went back because we liked the island so much. Glad we did. Stayed on the French side which was an excellent choice. Grand Case Beach Club was very clean and cheap for the service received.
Baguettes and crossaints for breakfast every morning. Orient Beach was beautiful. I am not one to lay out in the sun but I did - two days in St. Martin. It was off-season and the scare of the Hurrican kept many tourists away. Lucky for us because there was no waiting in line and we ate at fabulous restaurants in Grand Case every night without having to wait a couple of hours. Dinner costs - about 120 - 180.00 a night (including wine) every night. It was very relaxing, not a lot of partying which is what we wanted. Rent a car and drive around the island to take in the sights. If you like Piano Bars - there is one on the Dutch side called The Sopranos where an Aussie singer struts his stuff. Can't wait to go back.

Relax in Grand Case

Stayed at the Grand Case Beach Club and loved it. It was very relaxing. We wanted a place away from the crowds and this was it. Our 3rd story room over looked the beach and bay. Beautiful sunsets. The water is air tempture warm and I went swimming every morning at about 6:30. The room was excellent. The bedroom was in a upper loft. We had a stove,refigerator,t.v.,cd player and air conditioner. It was a good set up with all utinsils in cupboards. The deck is private with a table 2 chairs and a lounge chair. Internet service available at the main desk. The restaurant is excellent. They serve a continental breakfast of juice,coffee,baguettes and crissoiants as is included in your stay. Other items are available from the menu. There is a water sports desk next to the restaurant and it offers a variety of water related activities from snorkel gear to water taxi. Most of it free of charge with the exceptions being the diving,taxi and tours. There is a car rental right on the property (Value Car Rental) which is very convient. The price was $25.00 a day plus 7% tax and it included Liability and Collision Insurance with a $500.00 deductible. The car we rented was a Toyota Corolla and had no promblems. In town there are many gourmet restaurants to pick from so dining is not a promblem. There are only 2 small grocery stores in the town but we found them to have what we needed. Orient Beach is but a 5 minute drive from the hotel if you want action. Security at the Hotel is excellent. It's a gated entrance and exit and a code is needed to enter and exit. Perfect Getaway

We stayed at GCBC from Sept 12-17 and thought we were going to have to cancel due to Hurricane Isabel. Luckily for us, she headed north and hit the States instead. We had a fabulous time in St Martin, spending most of our days on the beach and our evenings in the restaurants.
Since we went in the off-season a lot of restaurants were closed but we still found enough decent places to eat. The days were typically in the low 90's, evenings in the low 80's.

GCBC was perfect for our needs - the rooms were clean and well-kept, the AC worked great, the grounds were immaculate, plenty of security, breakfast and lunch available at the Sunset Cafe, and free water sports and gear. It's not the Ritz Carlton but it was the nicest place in Grand Case. We especially appreciated the small private stretch of beach that the club enjoys. It allowed us early mornings and late afternoons in the sun while having all the amenities of our room 50 ft away. Stephen the manager, the front desk staff, the sports staff, and the guys at the Sunset Cafe were all pleasant and took care of all of our needs. The only drawback was that the Sunset Cafe was not open for sunset happy hour or dinner, but we understood that everyone needs a vacation at some point, even the people who live in the paradise that is St Martin.

We thought Orient Beach was our favorite beach, shopping for souvenirs and duty free goods in Philipsburg was easy, for finer goods Marigot was better. The food in Grand Case could not be beat - we had a delicious meal at La California and would recommend that place especially. We wanted to do some island hopping but with only 5 days there was just too much to do on St Martin. We didn't even get to hike to Paradise Peak or see the Butterfly Farm. I suggest you rent a car - the best way is just to bargain with the crowd of guys outside the airport - we met a couple who paid $150 for a Jeep Wrangler for 7 days.

All in all a thoroughly enjoyable vacation. Thanks GCBC!

Grand Case Beach Club was the best! Service, staff, view and location.
The grounds are beautiful as well as the beach. Shore snorkeling to the right of Petit Plage perfect for beginners!! We were upgraded (for free) from an ocean view room to an oceanview with loft bedroom where you can look out from bed. There are many great restaurants within walking distance and the lolos are really good as well and really inexpensive. There is also nice shopping as a lot of the merchandise is French. Gotta love it!

We were at GCBC the week of Aug 16, 2003 and had a GREAT time. The location, staff and room were more than I expected and would recommend this hotel to anyone of my freinds or family travling to St. Martin.I loved the bottle of wine given at check in and the 24/7 gated security and the friendly staff. I travel every every 6 months on vacation and this place is special. I'll be back and once you go there you'll see why this place has so many great reviews.The water toys are free including kayaks, snorkling equipment, floats ect. kayak to Creole Rock about a half mile from the Sunset Cafe ( the hotels resturant located on the beach) as experience some of the best snorkling on the island.The resturants in grand case are fantastic, try Sol Mar.... yum.
Resturant row is a five minute walk down the road and your choices are limitless, unless you are fortunate to be able to stay for a month.Thanks for a great week.... we'll be back!

This hotel is the best located, maintained and run in the area if not on the island! Hotel staff is very helpfull. It is close to everything (has its own beach!). Ground floor ocean view room is a must! Can't wait to come back again!

We loved it so much that we called our travel agency to see if we could extend another week. Try to get the first floor ocean front rooms as you will get a balcony plus an area with 2 lawn chairs under trees with the ocean sounds and the fresh breeze. We had our morning coffee and late night drinks every day at this spot. We felt so safe that our balcony door was open every night so that we would fall asleep with the sound of the waves. Do get a car so you can enjoy all of St-Martin. The town of Marigot is very charming, skip Phillisburg too touristy, Maho section is OK for a night of casino and a supper. Best beach we went to was called Happy Beach a 10 minute walk up a small hill from Friar's beach. I could go on and on but I think you get the picture.

Best vacation yet! GCBC was everything I had expected. Service, location, activities..., all were excellent. Good variety of water sports. Sailing trip to St. Barts is a must if possible. We had 1 bed ocean front (two baths which really made my wife happy). I won't duplicate what has already been written because the reviews are right on the money. We'll go back. Can't go wrong with this one.

Just returned from a wonderful 6 day stay at the GCBC, which came highly recommended from my mother-in-law. From check in to the very sad check out (wish I were there now), we had a wonderful time. My husband and I usually stay at villas, rental homes or B&B's on our travels, but the GCBC is small and intimate enough to give that sort of same feeling. Small, cozy, clean and comfortable with breathtaking views to wake up to off the balcony (HIGHLY recommend the ocean view rooms!), yummy breakfast on the water (included in room price), and dreamy sunsets, all with a view of Anguilla in the distance. The staff were some of the nicest I have found in the Caribbean from the time you are greeted at registration with a bottle of wine. Excellent on site restaurant and water sports facility, gift shop, pool and two beaches, all within walking distance to the quaint "restaurant row" in Grand Case, with too many restaurants to hit in several trips!!

Top Local Tips for Grand Case

Enjoy the downtown food but then try these The French cuisine in Grand Case is awesome - but a bit pricey. (Especially with the price of the Euro, where the restaurants did not do 1 for 1 with the US dollar.) Look for the restaurants that had the 1 = 1 signs, as they become a bargain. Off the beaten track, eat where the locals do on the French side. Enjoy 13 Travaux de Hercules & Poncho Villa. The Lolo's in downtown which serve barbeque are also a good money saver & the food couldn't be fresher or tastier.

No Atm machines in Grand Case - discount at restaurants for paying cash There are no Atm machines in Grand Case. Everyone accepts credit cards, however, if you pay cash they give you the U S Dollar rate equal to Euro for cash vs. $1.30ish per Euro for credit. The restaurants are expensive so this is a large difference if you are there for a week.
