Nice Place

from Travelguru4u
I have been here 4x's. This hotel is comfortable, as well as beautiful.
The rooms are updated. The casino is very lively. The grounds/pool are nice. It's a great choice.

Loved the Marriott Resort and Stellaris Casino

Our stay here was wonderful. The staff was great, the best ever. If you are looking for a place to caterer to you, this is it. We only left the hotel once to have dinner at a lcoal resturant. The rooms were ok but the view we had was beautiful. We had a great time laying out at the pool. The casino was under construction when we were there, but you could still gamble. I recommend this hotel to everyone and you can bet when I go back to San Juan I will be staying at the Marriott and Stellaris Casino again.

Good location, good beach area, very clean. Service was bad, room was horrible and had to change. The whole experience was strange, very good at one moment, very bad the next. Breakfast Buffet was very expensive and very bad, eat elsewhere in the area.

Loved the San Juan Marariott Resort and Stellaris Casino

From check in to check out, everyone on staff from Felix at the front desk to the bellman, to the conceaiarge were more than helpful. They offered wonderful directions and advice when we asked and were kind and considerate during our 5 day stay. The casino is a little small, so don't expect Las Vegas or Atlantic City. The latin band in the lobby was a lot of fun everynight and the special buffets on the beach were a lot of fun as well. A good place to rest and relax.

Good and Comfortable!

We spent our post cruise stay here and found the hotel to be quite comfortable and the staff very helpful, especially the bellmen and front desk! Nice Pool area and good beach frontage. Rooms lived up to the Marriott comfort. After seeing many of the other local properties, this one ranked right up there. Also if you are there when the Salsa band is in the lobby - you're in for a real treat!

ll Love the Place

We recently spent 5 nights at this hotel and were extremely pleased with the entire package. The room was modern and had a great view from the balcony. They even provided us with a safe and a fully stocked refridge. There are numerous restaurants, snack bars and and adult bars for every taste. The magnificent lobby was always jumping with music and dance. The casino was just the right size to have fun and enjoy free drinks and snacks while losing your money. The pool and beach were magnificent. We especially enjoyed dinner out on the patio overlooking the beach - very romantic. All in all, a great worthwhile hotel.

Avoid at all costs, even if they want to pay you to stay there.

The experience was akin to the "blind date from hell." You know, the one where she looked great from a distance but once she opened her mouth there were no teeth nor any vocabulary to be found. Avoid at all costs!

So-so hotel in downscale district

The staff is mostly friendly but the service is slipshod. Maid service runs from mediocre to poor. Room service is awful. The place looks pretty rundown, and the rooms are in second-rate shape. Nice pools and pool staff. The adjoining public beach is filthy. The neighborhood is in poor shape, with some good restaurants and not much else. Hotel restaurants are OK with friendly staff, but they are badly organized with unnecessary congestion, esp. on weekends.

Great and fun time

We researched many hotels as to the beach involved. My boyfriend and I wanted to hear the waves at night and walk out to the beach when we wanted. We found the Marriott Casino&Resort (Condado area) to be the one! After we got there, we toured many other hotels. I am also a travel agent, outside sales. I was very glad we chose the Marriott. Their beach is everything they said it was. In fact, not many of the other hotels had much of a beach at all. We left our door open at night and listened to the waves. We had no problems with mosquitos or flies. The hotel's buffet for dinner was just OK. But their breakfast buffet was really good. We found a Mexican restaurant, 6 blks away, toward Old San Juan that was wonderful. It was the only one I saw on Condado Beach. I would really like to go to the island of Viequess just off Puerto Rico on my next visit. They have a beautiful beach all the way around island. The tour of Old San Juan was great. Overall, the people were fabulous. We never met anyone that wasn't pleasnt and fun to ask questions. Many families were out for Sundays which is better than what we see in the US mainland. Overall, we went before and after a cruise. I would definitely like to go back to Puerto Rico and spend a week, touring their island more. It was much prettier than some of the islands on the cruise itinerary. Loved it overall!

it was okay

this hotel was average at best. the staff was nice but the service was slow and sometimes bad. the room was ok but a little dingy. restaurants were average... this is a good place if you don't want to stay more than 4-5 days in san juan. if longer, splurge on a nicer place.

Top Local Tips for San Juan

Tour of El Yunque/Luquillo Beach Took a combo. tour of El Yunque and Luqillo Beach through Castillo Tours- 787-791-6195 ( and had an excellent day. Our tour guide was Josue Rivera and he was incredibly informative (not just about the rainforest and the beach) but about Puerto Rico in general. You can tell he really loves living there and is very proud of being a native Puerto Rican.

Ride the bus Bus fare is 75 cents. Take bus # B21 to the old city.

Parking in Old San Juan There are several very inexpensive, very large parking garages in Old San Juan. They are very easy to find...just ask your concierge for a map of Puerto Rico and I'm sure they all have the same map marked with all the parking areas. They are within walking distance to everything you want to see in Old San Juan.
