My husband and I just returned from Villa Montana Beach Resort and had a lovely time. We had the chance to attend a destination wedding as my cousin was getting married at the resort. This was also a great opportunity to sneak in a get away with my husband. It was a hassle free direct flight from Ft. Lauderdale into the Aguadilla airport. To our surprise my cousin had arranged through the resort to have all of her guests picked up in a town car, this saved us from renting a car but it was available if we needed it. It was a short drive, only fifteen minutes or so down rural roads and as we turned the corner there was this beautiful Caribbean paradise, I can see why my cousin chose this location for her most important day.

Our Villa had breathtaking views of the crystal blue Caribbean Sea, and from our private verandah we enjoyed amazing sunsets that we still talk about. The wedding was beautiful overlooking the ocean at dusk. it made me wish that I had found this place 15 years ago when my husband and I were married.

The staff made us feel welcomed and they always had a hello and a warm smile as you passed them around the grounds. We were there for 4 days and there was so much to do we had a hard time deciding how to spend our free time. My husband and I went horseback riding along the secluded beach and also took a great mountain bike ride into lush green forests. The setting of the Villa Montana Beach Resort allowed us to rekindle our romance and get back in touch with the great outdoors. We have great memories of our trip and hope to come back again one day.

Top Local Tips for Isabela

Take it easy Be polite to the people that work there if something is not to your liking. My experience was that they were very happy to help and service. Come with a relaxed attitude, you are on vacation. Don't expect NY fast service. This is not NY. Smile, have a Piña Colada and enjoy.

Aguadilla (BQN) is best gateway to the west and southwest JetBlue and Continental fly to Aguadilla (BQN), which is a much easier airport to get in and out of than San Juan, and the west of the Island is the more relaxed, with the best diving being on the southern wall, which is only 1 1/2 hours from BQN, as opposed to 3 or more from San Juan.
