Paradise on the Cheap!

I just returned from Rondel and feel compelled to write about what a fantastic experience it was. Being a two-star resort, I understood that it would not be luxurious, but hoped it would at least be clean and accomodating. My expectations were far exceeded. The rooms are quite large, with comfortable beds, floor-length windows that open onto lovely balconies, television with tons of American channels and a totally adequate window air-conditioning unit. The rooms are decorated very charmingly and even have light-blocking panels behind the curtains for the morning sun! I really feel like there is not much more we would have needed to enjoy ourselves--the only things I can think that would have been at a luxury resort were travel toiletries in the room. Really nothing else!

The grounds are full of greens and flowers, maintained immaculately. We stayed on the beachside, so cannot speak for the gardenside. The pool is small, but nice. With the Negril beaches though, a pool is kind of a distant second. After walking up and down the 7-mile beach, it seemed that Rondel was on the nicest strip of beach. In general, Negril is still the greatest beach I've seen of all of my vacations. The food at Rondel is good, not spectacular but fresh and tasty. We usually ate breakfast there, which overlooks the water. Lunch and dinner could be at a variety of places along the beach or even from vendors selling food.

Again, we were there at a slower time and stayed on the beachside which may be nicer, but I am already thinking about the next time I will go back! Rondel even arranged for our transportation to and from the airport. In general, we felt safe and in paradise...perfect. Will definitely return, maybe to one of the villas next time.

OK hotel

We stayed at the Rondel Village Hotel in late February. Our room was 100 yards from the very busy main thorough fare through town. Although I think in this town this could happen at any hotel. There is the main highway through town. So it is Ocean a row of hotels and then Highway. There was noise at night also from the bar across the street. Besides the location of the room the hotel was fine. I would also not recommend staying on the garden side I wouldn't have wanted to have to cross the busy road. You will also get hassled on the beach (if you walk around) but I don't think this would be any better at another hotel. Overall the Hotel was fine. I would stay here again (if I ever went to Jamaica again) and just ask for a better room.

great stay

We had a group of four and stayed on the garden side. Walking across the street was never a problem. The beach is perfect. Enjoyed not staying at an all inclusive - we got to see much more and meet many more locals. Food at the hotel was very good. Bar was excellent. Room was clean and comfortable. Pools were small but we didn't mind. Also midweek the hottub broke and was not fixed for the remainder of the stay. We would defintely stay again. Be sure to take some light bug spray for at night on the beach (sand fleas). We took a collapsable cooler and foam beer coolers. Nice to be at the beach all day with plenty of drinks on hand. Bar was great too. The only down side was a friday night when the bar next door (the Jungle) had guest DJ's playing the loudest dance music I have ever heard. This went on late into the night. Hotel staff excellent & security was great too. Can't wait to go back.

We stayed at the Rondel Village Hotel in early February and had a very mixed experience while staying there. Our room was situated over the noisy hotel parking lot and was 100 yards from the very busy main thorough fare through town. When we asked if we could have our room changed upon arrival and we were told there was nowhere to move us, and no compensation offered for the less than adequate room arrangement. The first night there, we were kept awake until 3:30 in the morning with the party below and traffic noise. This continued for the next 6 evenings. We had to keep the air conditioner running on high to drowned out the street noise, even though the evening temperatures were quite cool. My advice to prospective guests at Rondel is to call first and ask specifically what room has been assigned to them. We would not have booked our stay at that hotel had we known our room location.

The other wait staff were delightful. From Stacy in the beach restuarant to the bartenders serving Red Stripes at the beach bar, each and every one of them were pleasant and informative. They have security guards located at the street and beach entrances for safety precautions. They rooms were cleaned daily and the grounds are kept up beautifully.

Again word to the wise, check your room location and confirm with them before arriving - you will sleep much better for your efforts.

Best trip I ever had

My husband and I married in St. Lucia last November but failed to get the beautiful beach we were hoping for. We just returned from our "honeymoon" to Negril, Jamaica and had the time of our lives. Instead of doing the all-inclusive high priced resorts this time, we chose Rondel for their fair price and for being located on the beach. We decided that we'd pay our way for meals this time and compare what the total cost would be had we gone to an all-inclusive. We discovered that this was the best decision we've ever made.

Rondel Village has mini kitchens/kitchenettes in their villas and thus, we could shop & cook our food, which we did a few times for breakfast. Still, even if we didn't eat in our rooms, the cost of local restaurants meals were so inexpensive and better than what we've had in other all-inclusives. We ate at a different place for every lunch and dinner we had there. When we compared how much we spent, it was 1/3 of what an all-inclusive would have charged.

One awesome thing about Rondel: it's located on a section of the beautiful and amazing 7 mile beach where it is not as populated since it's a smaller resort. We felt like we had alot of room and privacy. We walked on the beach towards the bigger resorts and it was quite crowded and abit loud. The beach was GORGEOUS! The water was turquois blue and warm. I've read that it's one of the best beaches in this world and now I see why. The water was very shallow and calm. We got a real treat and saw a sting-ray sailing through. The water was so clear that we saw it from sitting in a restaurant several yards away.

The rooms in Rondel are not top of the line and they don't claim to be but are clean and well kept. One slight downside was that the windows didn't have screens and so we had a minor problem with mosquitos entering the room. The staff were very helpful and very nice.

Of all the places we gone to, I don't think we've ever wanted to return, either due to service or price. This time, I think we've finally found a place where we can return to in Negril. Truly the beach is what got me to want to go back and Rondel is an excellent spot.

Stayed 8 nights at this darling, quiet, unobtrusive inn. Room was clean, bright and good-sized. Convenient outdoor breakfast place, decent chefs and friendly beach bar. The entire wait staff was cheerful, polite and helpful. Great location on the emaculate, quiet, white sand beach - between large hotel area and music night life. They also have 24 hour beach/bar security guard. Couldn't have been happier..... Rhondel was exactly what we were looking for in privacy and beauty at a decent price. Would recommend to all!!!!

Hidden treasure in Negril

We stayed at Rondel Village back in the spring of 01' - There were six of us in one of their two bedroom villas and we LOVED every second of our stay. There was hardly ever a need to leave the villa! Their staff was friendly and cook a mean Carribean meal for you if you reserve ahead of time. When we left, we swore we would make it back some day.

I have visited Rondel on many occassions (usually for three weeks or more) and it never ceases to amaze me, I thoroughly enjoy myself and two, cannot wait to return for the next suprise.
I usually stay in the same villa each visit (my second home now) and our family is usually aclimated the first day. Everything we want, enjoy and need is R O N D E L!
A successful bond between the staff and management shines brightly, as does the sun itself.
I really love it there and have offered to purchase it at any price but they politely turned me done....and I was just dreaming! I'll be back!

My husband and I stayed at Rodel Village July 17th thru the 24th ,and had a wonderful time. We stayed in a beachside villa, which was steps away from the beach. I must state our stay was a dream.This resort is located in the middle of Negril's seven mile beach. Which's provides a wonderful view as you bath in the calm blue warm waters of Negril. Also , if you love water sports this is the place to be, or just lay out on the beach and enjoy the sounds of the ocean.We had a great time. Rondel Village has a great staff that will attend to your every need, and housekeeping came by everyday. The villa's were spacious and clean, with all the comforts of home. Also, the food was great. Make sure you try the jerk chicken. Rondel Village is a place for people who want to enjoy the true beauty of Jamaica.

Best Kept Secret

I visited Rondel Village this past January for nine nights and it was absolutely lovely, one of the BEST places I've stayed in Negril at a fraction of the cost of the more popular and larger resorts. The rooms are not luxurious but they are very pretty and kept immaculately clean. Because the hotel is conscious of the environment, they ask that you reuse your towels if they really don't need to be cleaned. And, if you think about it, don't we reuse our towels at home anyway? The staff is the most delightful of any property I've stayed at in Negril and I'll be returning in September of this year. The grounds are gorgeous and also well maintained. The pool offers a refreshing swim as it is not heated. If you prefer, like I do, the privacy and attention that a small resort affords, you'll love this place and want to return time and time again. I write this review with great reluctance as I'd like to keep this hidden treasure to myself, however, the unselfish part of me wants to inform those who are seeking a more personal and relaxed vacation about this jewel of Negril.
