We always try to have a good time on vacation and not let bad accommodations ruin our hard earned time off. We loved Jamaica but, Nirvana is truly an overpriced dump - I really question all the great reviews!

The rooms are very dated and decorated with garage sale kitch. One wall hanging was actually hung with large paper clips! Sheets and towels are threadbare and rough. Furniture is seventies style bamboo with worn cushions.

There is no front desk and no phones in the rooms to call and report any problems or issues. The water on our outdoor shower was out for two days. Then, the water in all the faucets, toilet, shower, etc stopped working. We knocked on the door of the "management office" for two days an no one ever answered. After 2 days we finally got a hold of someone finally get it fixed

- Ancient appliances - we had to stand by the toaster and keep pressing toast down at least 5 times to get bread to toast
- Ants - make sure to clean up the kitchen all times are you'll get hundreds of ants all over the counter and dishes.
- None of the dishes, glasses, etc matched

- There was a concert right next door one night that lasted until 4 in the morning!!!! The speakers were so close to our room that the base was causing the walls to vibrate - I am not exaggerating. We were totally exhausted!

Again, we made sure to be good sports about it all and not think about all the $$$ we spent on this dump. Seven mile beach is a great beach with lots of great bars and restaurants.

However, we thought Couples was tons nicer and found out it was cheaper and included drinks and meals! We'll definitely be going there next year instead!

Our trip was everything I hoped it would be.
We had a wonderful, relaxing stay. I wish it had been longer. Your staff is absolutely wonderful as well. Ziggy and Lynn are the best. I don't want to forget Moses, and the ground crew. The maids were great. Oh and Breezy was so nice and like you said "100% reliable".

We will be back for sure, I am planning to bring my boys (7 & 8) with us next year. Would love to have the Veranda Suite again (it was perfect) but don't think that will work with the kids. We will probally need to rent a cottage. Like I told Lynn, I've been "to" Jamaica before, but in Nirvana, I felt like I've been
"in" Jamaica. Thank you Lonnie. I will get on Trip Advisor this week and leave
a review. Am trying to get caught up at work.

Nirvan is just that

from Millymoose
Where to start...

From being met at the airport by Leon to arriving at Nirvana to be met by Bonnie and Moses and the sound of frogs in the still night air.

Nothing prepares the senses when you wake to a view of the white sands from your beachfront cottage.

The gardens are beautiful and all the staff make you feel that nothing is a problem.

This is superb and we will definitely be back.

The Finest of them All

My first visit to Negril was in 1976 and visited dozens of times until 1997. Let it be said that I have seen just about everything that has changed and what has not changed. Yearning to return, I scoured the internet and realized that Nirvana was the only spot that offered the real experience of Negril that I wanted........but with the awesome romantic atmosphere that we were looking for. What a perfect combination it was. Awesome gardens with such a natural feel. The staff was outstanding. Security by Bani and Shine was superb. We left knowing that we were going back very soon. We are so fortunate to have found Nirvana.

We had an amazing time. Nirvana is an excellent choice if you want to get away from the overly-controlled all-inclusive environment. It’s located close to the action – but not too close. It’s a short walk down the beach to Alfred’s for some live reggae. The staff is friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is wonderful.

I love it here!

I love it here in Negril and inside the gates of Nirvana. I have seen many other Negril resorts, but Nirvana takes the cake. Nirvana is a beautiful family run seaside resort with 5 rustic cabins and some fancier suites. I have stayed in the cabins which are excellent for families and groups of friends. Each one has seperate bedrooms and a screened in living room/dining room/kitchen area perfect for socializing and protecting you from the elements while allowing you to fully enjoy the nature of Jamaica. The staff at Nirvana is wonderful and helpful. The property and the rooms are meticulously maintained. They are genuinely interested in your comfort, safety and good time which further enhances the vacation experience. Nirvana goes beyond your normal expectations of good service. After buying a bag of oranges, you will always find a pitcher of fresh squeezed orange juice in your frig. We bought some food at the local supermarket and the girls prepared it for us in authentic and incredibly delicious Jamaican style. Brown stew chicken, curry goat, steamed fish, yams, kallaloo and akee are among the dishes that they cooked for us. We enjoyed many nearby local restaurants as well. In the center of all of the rooms is a huge, beautifully manicured zen like garden which comforts you and lulls you into a state of tranquility. Spend a few minutes here and you will know why this place is called "Nirvana". Beyond the garden and past the fence is the beautiful Negril beach where one can walk, swim and play for hours. If you want to relax in a beautiful worry free environment while you enjoy the best that Jamaica has to offer, Nirvana is the place for you!

Paradise. After attending my daughters wedding in Montego Bay, we headed to Nirvana. What a great way to unwind and relax after a busy yet glorious event. The staff was tremendous. Boyd and I enjoyed so much just sitting and visiting with Joan, Shine, and Moses#1 and #2. Bani was always around to protect us and make us feel completely at ease. But, oh....the gardens. I was, at first, taken aback by the overwhelming beauty that is Nirvana. The perfectly manicured plants, trees, and pathways...I spent hours just wandering(rum drink or fresh squeezed orange juice in hand) the grounds in wonderment and felt total serenity. After baking on the beautiful beach, the cool gardens were a relief from the heat. And, oh....the naps. After morning shopping or strolling, we found ourselves taking naps. Thinking we had slept for 20 minutes, we would wake and realize that we had slept for 3 or 4 hours. It is so quiet and peaceful. The sound of doves or the various birds...Moses constantly sweeping the sand...a perfect lullaby. We can't think of any reason to stay anywhere else in Negril. We found our Nirvana.Thank you so much for a perfect vacation.Karen and Boyd

Simply The Best

This was my second trip to Negril, and my first to Nirvana. I chose Nirvana due to its great location on the beach, and I needed an affordable place with full kitchen and three bedrooms. I could not have made a better choice. The grounds were awesome, almost like being in the middle of a lush tropical forest. My wife initially had reservations about the lack of air-conditioning and television, but we never missed either one. The staff made us feel like family. We woke up every morning and enjoyed our freshly squeezed orange juice and Jamaican coffee which the girls had prepared for us. The best meals of our trip, were the ones that the staff prepared for us in our cottage(Also the least expensive) The security staff did a great job of keeping away the overly aggresive higglers while we enjoyed the most beautiful beach that I have ever seen. All in all, it was a great vacation and I look forward to returning in the very near future.

Nirvana, need I say more?

Nirvana is ...well, a bit of Nirvana.....very fitting of its name. The cottages make for a perfect get-away from the hustle and bustle. It's like camping with a bed...or actually sleeping on a screen porch! Oh, and the outside shower is tremendous! The kitchen is well stocked with equipment, pans, dishes, etc... and the staff are fabulous (kudos to Ms. Lynn & Bonnie (xoxo) and to Walter (non-staff) who signed up to cook us some wonderful Jamaican meals! We will be back again!! You can count on it.

the most wonderful place on earth

This was my 3rd trip to Nigril JA, & my first time to Nirvana. I have stayed in other places in Nigril several to be truthful. I just could not find the right place but this was it. I will never have to look any further, for my next trip or move from place to place again. The staff were so helpful from the cook to the taxie driver.(as they say) The cottage with its fully screened in porch was so nice to sit on and relax after a great day at the beach it over looked the pretty flowers the had some of the most colorful birds to watch. The ladys were so pleasent to talk to while they fixed what ever you wanted to have for dinner. In my own kitchen, the beach was great clean and not crowed. the staff kept the locals who sell & sell to a very few. making sure that they are not a bother while you are catching the rays. It is just the perfect place on this beach. I could go on & on there is so much to say about Nirvana, but it is something you just have to experance yourself. Bethany

Nirvana lives up to its name

This is trully one place on the beach that lives up to its name, Nirvana. 5 cozy, meticulously kept, screened in cabins ring a lush, beautiful garden with gazebo, tropical trees, plants, goldfish and island art. The staff cannot be beat to make your trip memorable. They make you feel like an old friend returning home. You can even buy your own oranges, squeezed for you by the housekeepers everyday, or fish and vegetables. Sit on the best stretch of beach and watch the world go by. You might even see someone you know, we have many times. At sunset, get a drink for the best show of the day, sunset. Some even merit applause.
The proprietors, Lonnie and Stanley are the best, and will do what they can to make your trip Nirvana-like. They can make restaurant and sightseeing suggestions, get a masseus, arrange a driver, give you tips on getting into the slow and easy Jamaican groove. See if Alfonso, the jeweler, is around. His stuff is like nothing else on the entire island. I could go on, but like a said, it is Nirvana on the Beach.

Nirvana is THE Place

from smcme
This was our second trip to Nirvana and first with the teenagers. Once again we were more than comfortable on the best spot mid beach. Our cottage was everything we needed it to be:safe, clean, great kitchen, cozy living/dining area. Having a kitchen is a great way for families to keep down their costs by stocking your own food and beverages. Lonnie and crew will also do pre-arrival food shopping for you if you desire.Grounds are full of beatiful tropical flowers. All the staff are eager to meet your needs with smiles on their faces. The location and set up allowed the teenagers some frredom both on and off grounds. They connected with other teens and also had a great time. It is now going to be a new holiday tradition-no more presents-take us to beautiful Negril and Nirvana is THE place

Top Local Tips for Negril

Be careful what you eat I don't recommend buying food & juice from the vendors who walk up & down the beach unless it is the well known "pattyman".

one love - one heart, respect take the bamboo river raft excursion

Avoiding Mosquito Bites To avoid getting bitten by mosquitos, bring some repellent containing deet as the active ingredient. Apply repellent at around 6:00PM and you should be good to go.
