Just what we needed!

From the first meeting with Mr Jerry to the long goodbye on the beach the firefly experience was definitely worth it! As it is run by women, I found that although most of the accommodation was modest, it was very clean and cosy.

We had originally planned to go hotel hopping in Negril. However the beach was a big inhibitor of this plan. Although it is only a tiny strip of sand it was the most homely bit on the entire beach. The bar staff were lovely, the security guards were both ace and the beautician/masseuse Dornette was also fantastic. Therefore, there was no reason to leave their beach.

Also I found that aloe-vera really is excellent for sun burns, just as the locals pointed out!

If you are up for a lazy few days on one of the nicest beaches, Firefly would be one of the most relaxed experiences.

Warning to Brits going to Jamaica: Make sure to exchange your pounds for dollars in England or go to a licensed money changer when in J. The local GB pound to US dollar ratio is not fair at all. They don't seem to be aware that the dollar is almost half of the pound!

Security was ok. Make sure to use the safe deposit boxes at reception, available for 2 dollars a day. This really makes a difference to your peace of mind.

We can't wait to go back!!

Firefly - Sun, Fun, and Relaxation

I just got back from Firefly 2 days ago and it was one of my best holidays ever! My girlfriend and I stayed in one of the penthouse apartments that overlooks beautiful Negril beach. The room was very clean, comfortable and air conditioned and everyone who works there was friendly and helpful.

Each morning we had breakfast at Firefly's beach bar - they have excellent pancakes! The rest of the day was spent lying on the beach reading, swimming and going for walks. It was just what I needed! Firefly is the perfect place to go to for a relaxing vacation.

My stay at the Firefly Beach Cottages was lovely. I visited for five nights, including New Years Eve, and stayed in two different cottages. Both were very clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and attentive.

Best of all, there are a limited number of cottages which means the number of people residing there is relatively small.

The location of Firefly is approximately in the middle of the seven mile beach, giving easy access to either side. Firefly is also conveniently located next to a number of excellent restaurants - you can try a different one every night.

Firefly has a very nice bar with very friendly staff who make a point of remembering your name. The bar serves ice cold drinks and delicious (and filling!) pancakes for breakfast - highly recommended.

The owners are a couple from Kingston and England and were present during my visit. They were especially nice and attentive.

If you are looking for a quaint, comfortable stay in Negril, Firefly is the place.

Be very careful staying here

Had an extended stay here, rooms clean, staff friendly, no TV, air conditioner didn't work, can't have guests in your room. Supposedly, 24 hour security. Room was robbed two nights before I left. Stole app. 400.00 money and goods. Thiefs took the time to play tic tac toe in my room so must have had plenty of opportunity to watch my comings and goings. Be careful as management will not assist in matters like this, offers secured site, then becomes rude and threatened when something happens that they should be responsible for.

Great Food Be sure to check out Three Dives...........they have, hands down, the best food in Negril.

the only way to get to/from Negril Look up JUTA on the internet for the best and cheapest RT travel from/to the airport in Mo Bay. It costs $30 for a shared RT transfer right to/from your hotel's doorstep.

Charela Best experience ever in Jamaica, out of 6 trips there. GREAT beach, GREAT restaurant, GREAT owners, Excellent rooms, excellent location and the best jerk on the negril strip is 3 minute walk away. Very central on 7 mile beach, and the "beach guard/life guard" keeps the hawkers to a minimum or not at all if that is your preference. totally relaxing and unusually safe for your belongings on any beachfront resort in Negril. Just reserve your beach chair in your favorite spot early every morning!!
