| You've got to be kidding |
| This is a review to the latter half of my stay at the Rose Hall. To be fair, I did get a call back from the GM (Mr. O'Connelly) on the day following my review. He explained to me how they were between owners and that there was a lot of change going on. In addition, he explained that the new owners were investing in renovations to update the rooms and property. The morning of my wedding started with the usual rude treatment at breakfast. When we asked for tea and chocolate milk for one of the children the waitress replied (hot or cold) and rolled her eyes at us when we naturally assumed she was referring to the tea. The Rose Hall did do an excellent job at my wedding and the reception (which I'm sure is due to the GMs insistence that I get VIP treatment during these events). The rest of the stay wasn't too bad, but continued with the usual mix of employees (happy to extremely disgruntled). On check-out I found a lot of duplicate charges (that were already paid for in my wedding package) and had to miss my bus to the airport to address this situation. To Janice’s (the wedding coordinator) credit she helped me straighten this out and put me in a cab to the airport at the courtesy of the hotel. However, a few duplicate charges still showed up on my credit card bill two months later.
I've read some of the later reviews referring to my character and have to wonder what these people are thinking as they sit in their Shanties. As someone that has traveled extensively since 1981, I can tell you that I rarely have a bad stay (and have never been pushed to write a negative review before). Anyone that knows me would tell you that I'm probably one of the most patient people they know, and it takes a lot to push me over the line. However, once I've been pushed to far, I do push back.
In the end you'll have to make up your own mind whether to take the 50% chance of having your vacation ruined, or go somewhere that has a better rating.
