Taxi versus rental car If you take a taxi to the hotel it will cost about 1,000 pesos (about US$30) but once there, you can rent a car from a city office for lower price than the airport charges.

Don't go to Santo Domingo The title is not a scare tactic, just the truth. the DR is not a tourist destination EXCEPT for Punta Cana in the north. Santo Domingo is a dirty, crumbling city with no entertainment, shopping or cultural value. There are no beaches in the capital city. The nearest beach, Boca Chica is a run-down village by day and a red-light district at night. The government has spent $$$ in Punta Cana but nowhere else in the country. After seeing how people suffer for the basic necessities of life, how women and men are forced to trade their bodies to tourists for $$$ I could never revisit this sad, sad place.

Restaurant Sully GREAT SEAFOOD AND GREAT PRICES If you are in Santo Domingo and looking for a place to eat seafood, go straight to Restaurant Sully, I do not remember the street name but is located across from the Pricesmart store. Great seafood and the price is decent. Thy have a wide variety of meals, wine, desserts. Enjoy!
