We got married here in 2005 and are now booked to go back next year (2007).
If you are planning to get married here it is definately the perfect location and setting.
Our wedding was wonderful, everything went exactly to plan thanks to our great rep and the lovely wedding co-ordinator, Magnolia.


We went to the Riu Palace Mexico in Playacar in June 2006 although it was lovely it doesn't compare to the Riu Palace Macao.

At the riu palace macao you have everything that a holiday is meant to be:
Delicious fresh food, lovely clean rooms, helpful & friendly staff, beautiful beach, relaxing atmosphere, drink orders taken from the pool (inc champagne), optics and minibar in room (which you could change if you didn't like what was in there previous).
What more could you want/need.

The hotel is a nice size, you really receive a personal service.
All the little touches really make a difference.

Definitely the best hotel we've ever been to.

We had the great pleasure to spend three weeks at the riu palace macao.
The most impressive experience we made in those days was the outstanding kindness of the staff in this hotel. In particular, we would like to mention our waiter Rafael, whose overhelming courtesy made us just happy when ever we went to the restaurant. The beauty of the island in breathtaking and we are looking forward to seing our friends from the riu palace macao us soon as possible. The Schmidinger-Family P.S. A few suggestions: 1) Some rooms might have technical problems: After a few days, we observed fungi-vegetations on our clothes in the chest-board, that were humidity associated. However, the manager of the hotel resolved this problem in a very professional and kind manner. (Room 3275) 2) Many of the pool-towels are not sufficiently clean despite every day washing.

Beautiful and Relaxing

We just returned from Punta Cana. The hotel is beautiful and all the staff was excellent. All the gentlemen at the front desk were superb especially Roberto. The rooms were spotless and the grounds magnificent. The food was good and there was a good variety. My son was sick so that was a downer; we still had a good time, we just couldnt enjoy all the activities as we planned. Im glad they had soup for lunch and dinner because this was the only thing he could eat for 3 days. Be sure and pack the Imodium and Pepto-Bismol, we also got a tip from other suffers to drink Gatorade. Knowing a few Spanish phases will help a lot.

I just got back From Punta cana. We stayed at the Riu Palace Macao and It was fantastic. The staff were very helpful, very friendly people.
The food was good maybe get bored after a week was generally is a great place to go. highly recommmeded.

We live in Puerto Rico, the island next to Dominican Republic. In June was the first time that we went to DR and we stayed at the Riu Palace Macao. It's extraordinary...the people, the service, the food, the beach...everything is "excelente". It's to bad that in PR we don't have any of that "All inclusive resots". Don't think twice, go to Riu Resorts in special Palace Macao. "Saludos...."

What a fabulous place, the Riu Palace and Punta Cana!!! Had to be one of the most beautiful beaches we have been on! The Palace was so clean and the staff couldn't do enough for you! First rate! Food was great and the animation group was fabulous! Victor and the gang make you really feel welcomed! We were amazed it how many languages they can speak! We had no problem with the language. The Outback Safair is definitly a most! Alex, our guide, was so informative and what a personality!!! We will go back for sure!!!

styaed for one week - April 26 to May 3/03 had a great time the food was excellent - pool was great - beach and water was fine - had a corner jaccuzi suite - huge room - very nice - some language problems with staff but got around them - my first riu propery - I will go back to nother Riu at any time

We just got back from the beautiful sands of PuntaCana..April 5-April 12 Stayed at the Palace..Nice rooms..very comfortable..balcony..in room bar plus stocked frig..Food is excellent..so many choices..Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner..Service is superb...There are plenty of activities to participate in if you want to or you can just relax by the beach or the pool. Bars all around..The beaches are very clean as they clean them up every A.M...You can walk for miles either way...I recommend the Outback Safari..Very informative and great fun all day long..Definitely will go back..My wife said she felt like a Queen..Hey at least I was the Lucky King...

Relaxing

We are in our early sixties and we found it very relaxing. we were there 11 days which was great but the food did get a little repetitious. If you like mussels, shrimp and squid (we do), that is the place to be. there are a lot of other things on the buffet. We always ate lunch at the Caribe restaurant on the beach. We did have a hard time getting washcloths. You might want to take your own. My husband speaks some Spanish but we did a lot of talking with our hands. They really appreciate when the tourists at least attempt to say hello, good-bye, etc. They give you a sheet of Spanish sayings and it doesn't take a lot of effort to learn a few. We had a suite which was beautiful. We had requested an ocean view which is misleading because you can't see the ocean from any of the rooms because of the palm trees! The weather was great. The trip to Santa Domingo is not worth it - 4hrs. on a bus each way and we only saw 4 buildings and did a little shopping. It would be better to spend a layover there. Did go para-sailing which isn't nearly as scary as it looks. The Outback Safari is worth every penny and then some. At noon be sure to check what is going on on the walk from the hotel to the beach. They sometimes have special meals, band,etc. which was fun. They do like to have fun and are very friendly. We will return!

Just got back March 10th - the plane broke and we had to stay an extra day....what a shame (lol)!Can't say enough! The place was beautiful, the staff was excellent and sooooo friendly, rooms were immaculate and the FOOD! MINGYA! Made some great new friends.... Going back w/them next year! What a place. Definitely what I needed! If you need to relax and enjoy yourself, THIS IS THE PLACE!

Riu Palace Good for Some

Riu Palace will be great for some and a bore for others. Its truly a tropical paradise and the staff is wonderful. All inclusive means all inclusive. You can go to the bar or get you minibar filled anytime. Plus drinks on the beach. This isnt a party island. I came with 20 people so we brought our party with us. Its basically a peaceful place. Great for romancing. Beautiful views. The Safari excusion was fantastic. May bore some who aren't interested in culture. But there were still great views and the stop at the river was amazing. The snorkel/jet boat excursion was great too. They tell you to stay in a line but really wont stop you from tearing ass around on these jet boats. Coral and fish were cool too. The only complaint I have is the food. It all looks wonderful, but most of it is horrible and will make you sick. After about two days I just stuck with simple breads, and lunch meats. And some stuff was alright. It didnt ruin my vacation or anything. You should be able to find something on the buffet.

Top Local Tips for Punta Cana

Stay out of the casino If you go into the casino, DON'T show a credit card at any time, and if you do, do not let anyone walk away with it, under the guise of checking your credit!!!

Duty Free Alcohol Purchasing Beware!!! Remember if you leave Punta Cana and arrive in the US for a connecting flight, you will have to make sure you pack the alcohol or other liquids with the checkin luggage. The policnow for carry-on is 3 oz of liquids, so you will have to toss the stuff at security. I was thankfull the rep from American Airlines told me this when I arrived on the island.

Monster Truck Tour Take this tour. Through tour rep $85 US per pers. Bus from Hotel at 7 AM to truck departure 45 min. Home by 5 :30. See back country up close, visit small family farm, a school (bring pencil crayons etc for gifts if you wish)a cottage industry fudge/chhese etc , see a mock coc fight, and nice lunch up in the mountains. Guides are very informative.
