me and my family are going to bararo beach in 5 days im so exited.im 12 and im so happy im going. i read alot about this place and most of them were good im looking foward 2 sea snorkel i hope that all the bad reviews wont put u down well ill write again when i come back......bye

This was the most amazing trip I've been on so far. I've been reading a lot of bad reviews about this resort, and am really beginning to wonder if these people just like to complain!

Upon arrival, we had absolutely no trouble getting checked into our rooms. We even got the beach front view we had requested. Our room service was also incredible. Everyday our made would leave us little surprises, like flowers on our beds. (We were leaving small presents in the mornings before leaving our rooms for the day...anything from hotel shampoo bottles to old jewellery).

The beach was incredible and there was so much to do. I highly recommend the sea snorkelling. It's only 5$US and totally worth the money. There was also a tone of entertainment (Spanish classes, aerobics, dance classes). The Tropicallisimo shows are also a definite must see!

As for the food, the Mexican restaurant did cause us to be a little sick, but nothing that lasted more than a few minutes. La Uva and the Steak House were awesome. Who can ask for more than surf and turf for every meal!

Overall, we had an amazing time. Drinks were good, staff was very friendly, everything was super clean and we met lots of nice people. I would recommend this resort to everyone and would gladly go back anytime!!

GREAT, FABULOUS, AMAZING, for me it's like you have a huge cocktail of blue sea, good musik, great people, good food, crazy drinks, lot of sun, all mixed is Bavaro Beach... !!! so good tath taht was my 2nd time.. and I guess not the last time....

Thanks to all people whom contribute to make this holidays so great and unforgetable to me... !!!!

What a fantastic place. I went with 15 other people in Dec. of 2001. All of the palm trees had Christmas lights on them. It was beautiful. There were plenty of things to do on the resort and trips away from the resort also. The food was fantastic. I still to this day have never had a better steak. You have the choice of 4 or 5 different restaurants to choose from. The liqour was ok but it sure was plenty full. Premium liquor was avaliable but at a hefty price. The beach and ocean were spectacular. No locals trying to sell stuff either. I will defeintely be going back to Bavaro Beach

This place was great. We went October 11 - October 18. I have to admit that I was a bit concerned about going there given some of the bad reviews. I wouldn't listen to any of the bad reviews. Let me clear a few things up:

1. Water snakes? What water snakes? I didn't see one the whole time. I did see a bunch of gar fish, maybe that's what people were calling snakes.
2. From many of the pictures you can see black patches in the water. This is sea grass, so it's not floating in the water. I'm not particularly fond of walking through that stuff, but there were plenty of places to go in the water without having to step in the grass. THe beach was just beautiful.
3. I cannot figure out why some people say the food stinks. The food was great. There was literally dozens of food to choose from at the buffet restaurants. You simply cannot go wrong unless you're used to eating caviar and filet mignon every day of your life. People who say the food stinks are being extremely picky.
4. The one "negative" thing that I WOULD agree with is the alcohol. I have to admit that it was a pain having to ask for rum in a strawberry daiquiri. But in all honesty, if you were persistent, you got what you wanted. I would certainly not let that steer you from this place.
5. The grounds were beautiful, and there were 5 hotels in the complex. Only one of them you couldn't use their amenities (the Beach Palace), but that's because it's a 5 star hotel and the other 4 are only 4 stars. In case, outside of the Palace, you could eat at any restaurant in any hotel, and the hotel made it easy to go from one hotel to the other because they had a train that would take you around the grounds. Very convenient.
6. The people who worked there were extremely nice, but I have to admit that if you were nice to them and smiled, it was returned. I've seen people (Americans) treat wait staff like dirt, so if the wait staff at the restaurants wasn't nice, I have to wonder whether the customers are giving them an attitude.
7. The beaches there are beautiful. They are littered with palm trees, and none of the hotels are taller than the trees, which makes for a beautiful view when you're anywhere on the beach.

In any case, this place is fabulous, and so worth the all-inclusive prices you get. This was my second time in Punta Cana and my first at this resort. I have been to Acapulco, Cancun, and Costa Rica, but this place is definitely the most beautiful. If you're looking for wild nights though, this isn't the place - go to Cancun instead. However, if you need some time to relax and check out of the crazy rat race, this is definitely the place for you.

The Barcelo Bavaro group in this large, beautiful resort complex (The beach, Palace, Garden, Golf and Casino)are all a good buy and each offers something a little different. The 5 share a decent golf course, mini golf and shopping area, and are connected by 3 colourful trains (on wheels) which run continuously so you can ride between hotels if you so choose. The Palace is pricier but gives you access to all 5 hotels, free drinks, etc. If you stay at any one of the others, you cannot use the Palace facilities, but you can move around the other 4. The Palace offers a very good seafood restaurant, large pool, and better rooms than the other 4. Busiest is the Beach which is oceanfront, and has a steakhouse and Mexican. (The Mexican doubles as an excellent place for breakfast, cereals, omelletes, etc) Pool there is small, but most everyone is on the beautiful beach which is groomed and cleaned every night, no weeds. Do not miss snorkeling on the reef. Price is minimal and there are tons of fish, well worth it. The Steakhouse is good, as well as the Mexican and the buffet at the Beach and the Marketplace. The Italian at the Garden was yuk accoring to evryone we spoke to. Steakhouse does get busy, so get there 1/2 hour before it opens, grab a drink, and avoid the lineup. The Garden has a nice pool and good beach access as well. The Gold and Casino Hotels are not Oceanfront, but have good pools and are right on the golf course. The casino in The "Casino Hotel" is not bad, tight like on a cruise ships, but we did manage to take $250.00 U.S. out of the slots one night, played all night. The shows rotate between all the hotels, so there is plenty of variety. Tend to do a lot of audience participation type of shows, so unlike most I've seen (in Mexico for example) they are fun and not poorly acted or performed stage productions. The staff can be a little rude (whereas Mexicans are so friendly and smiling), but that shouldn't spoil if for you. We stayed at the Beach for 2 weeks, may try the Palace n ... e, okay for a week, but a little cramped and dated for a two week stay.

Always Entertained

My best friend and I stayed 3 times in the last 2 years, we try to go back as often as our jobs let us. From the morning workouts on the beach , watching nightly shows at the Garden Theater, to dancing at Las Cañas, we were always entertained. The staff was Great, always making us feel confortable and making sure we were always smiling. I'll never get that "Bavaro Beach" little theme song they sing. The atmosphere was so inviting, my friend and I look forward to going back in December.

the vacations on the bavaro beach resort, was the most beautiful vacations i have ever had, alll is great, the beach is the greatest of all, the food was so delicious!!, and the shows, well perfect!!, a lot activities to do, perfect, perfect, perfect, a place to be for a YEAR!!, not for ALL THE ENTIRE LIFE!!, i dont know why few people says that was isn't good, was perfect!!, really what i like most was the greateness food and the amazing beach!! a place of dreams!!
go to this place, you will never want to go back home!!!!

Great resort

The resort was great. We had a wonderful time. They had activites for all ages. At night they put on shows, some of which the audience participated in. The grounds are beautiful and the food was great. Don't listen to all the reviews of bad food. The beach was absolutely beautiful. The rooms were standard but then again we're their for the beach. Great place to relax and unwind. I'll be going back soon.

Top Local Tips for Punta Cana

weather, taxi, attractions it was overcast until around 10am every day & a couple of days for all day & windy all day. a 5 minute taxi ride to the overrated palma real shopping mall (joke) was $8 + $2 tip = $10. actually enjoyed the carribean festival excursion for snorkelling & swimming with nurse sharks & holding manta ray there really isn't too much else to see or do in punta cana. do not rent your own car as they have no rules/laws of the road.

Transport to your hotel No need to prebook and pay $40. There were plenty of taxis when we arrived, but we had prearranged. We asked the hotel bellman how much a taxi to the airport cost: $25.00. We tipped in both cases, so definitely came out ahead with the cab on the way back. And that driver at least attempted some conversation with us.
