hi, well iv just returned from a week at the club in the green, had a really nice time the staff were lovely, the room clean, the hotel clean and basically it was a 3 star plus id say. As i am a vegeterian i had some problems, for example the at the Brazilian resturant we only had salad and as the main was all meat the chef cooked us pasta! which was not very nice but atleast he tried. However the italian resturant was great lovely food and caters for all. if you want to chill out u no sun bathe etc then go to this hotel and resort however if your shopper and water sport person then go to sousse resort which is like a 10-15 min drive from puetru plata airport as it has loads of small stores/markets at the beach (2km of stores across the beach!) if your going from the UK id advised u to take your pounds there and exchange them at the plaza which is a 10 min walk from the hotel, exchange your pounds for pesas not dollars as you will recieve more if u exchange from ? to pesas and the hotels exchange rates are very low compared to the plazas rates so DONT EXCHANGE YOUR MONEY AT THE HOTEL. Also u can get some bargain souveniors at the plaza, we found the paintings and souvieners were cheaper at the plaza then at the markets at sousse and Puetru Plata!!!! so check it out and u can haggle at the plaza and get the stuff cheaper in some of the shops! also ask for the remote control as u will not have one in your room!so if your going to book this hotel get ready for a relaxing and pleasent time!!!! Overall we had a good time but the Village on the Green has some need for improvement. The facility was a bit "shopworn" throughout, obviously it has been around longer than its neighbors. We went in on a reservation exchange on out timeshare. They did not have a unit as reserved, substituted a smaller unit from their regular inventory. No written or verbal orientation of the facility at all. Little english spoken made this even more problematic. It took us two days to locate where things were, what was offered where and when. Advertized children's program, no children's program to be found !! Food was OK and creative but did not lable dishes or ingredients and staff was unable to help with this, a problem if there are any food allergies. The two special restaurants were excellent ! Pool closed at dusk. Lacking kids program there was nothing for our 10 year old daughter to do in the evening. It is my understanding that this facility will be closing for major rennovations soon. It needs a fixup, after a rain water was running through electric fixture on our porch. The beach was great although almost a mile away. Some staff was very accomodating but some was rather unfriendly. The location is very nice but needs a physical facelift and some serious management and policy changes. We are experienced and aggresive travelers so we eventually got what we had coming to us but one should not have to work so hard to get it. Should be relaxing on vacation

This was our first trip oustide the U.S or Canada..We read the reviews before we leaft and wondered if we hade made the right choice to vacation @ Club on the Green...Well after the first 5 mins @ the complex we had our answer...with out a doubt we made the right choice.
NOTE: ignore the reviews that say the rooms and pools are filthy and the food sucks....THIS IS NOTHING BUT FAR FROM THE TRUTH...Our room was spotless and cleaned every morning by 9am with fresh bedding and towels. The food was nothing shy of awsome. A large variety of food for everyone at each sitting and excellent service in the restaurant. The tours that are offered are highly recommended. The resort is gated with security inside of a resort complex....There was no problem with walking around after 9-10pm. All of the staff were awsome..from the housekeeping to the wait staff and the fun club guys ... especially Chapelle...made the week all that more enjoyable. The open bar at the pool was awsome and the drinks tasted great...AND YES you can eat the ice in your drinks and not get sick..The only tip I would suggest is to take some powerful bug spray..the mosiquetos can get thick after a heav rain....We were totally impressed with Club on the Green and will be returning there for our next vacation.

Well, it's a little late since I got back from Club on the Green (mid February) but it's never too late to tell people what a great trip this was. I am a twenty-one year old University student who planned this trip for myself, my boyfriend and another couple. I was expecting the worst trip EVER! I read many of the reviews of this place and all of them were pretty negative. I have traveled pretty much all over the world and have been fortunate enough to stay in 4-5 star resorts with my family. So I was kinda expecting a rotton place because we paid so little for this trip. What I got was much more than I had hoped for!
The food was great (tasted home made) and even the people I traveled with (who are a bit picky and one was vegan) loved the food. The staff was wonderful (LUIGGY AND PAPA SANTOS WE LOVE YOU!), we had absolutely no problems with the rooms, maid's were friendly and kept our rooms very clean, the drinks were always strong and just kept coming and the weather when we were there was fabulous. I mean it wasn't as luxurious as some of the places I have stayed at but we met amazing people and partied all week (great spot for students). The only things I didn't like about this resort were: The pool: Too cold, a bit dirty and too small, the beach (go to Punta Cana if you want a nice beach), the fact that you couldn't get bottles of water when u needed it (they said u had to refill your bottles from your room in the buffet restaurant, that sucked!) and the keys (there were two of us staying in the room and we had one key, it was difficult and such a pain if one of us stayed out later then the other at night, and they were actual KEYS not cards that are so easy to lose). So that's about it! I had a great time, and really, people YOU GET WHAT U PAY FOR...don't expect first class top of the notch quality when u are paying to stay at a 3 star hotel...overall A WONDERFUL TRIP! we visited the club on the green last may and had a great stay. the room was fine- great balcony overlooking other villas , small but clean bathroom. we traveled as a vegetarian and a meat lover- plenty for both to enjoy- fresh and well cooked food. great pool, great drinks-GREAT staff. we established a connection with ony the bartender and of course, papa santo..to others who were discouraged by overly pushy sales people. you WILL find the same at any other resort. two thumbs up!

This holiday was a nightmare...was looking forward to sun & a relaxing holiday, did we get it NO!!! Was the weather good? Yes, but we never saw any sun for the first week. we spent the first week moving from room to room, four to be exact.First room was 2 beds & a chair for my husband, my six year old son & myself no balcony/patio, it was dark, smelt & worst of all was damp.(Our clothes was getting damp too).we asked to be moved...2 days later 2nd room 1 bed, no hot water,we asked for some hot water.. 2days later we moved to out to our 3rd room was promised it was all in good order, 1 bed, no hot water again & the toilet flooded & leaked, asked for yet another room, finally on the 6th day we got our 4th reasonable room which had hot water & two beds although still smelt. but who cares, if you have hot water & a bed for each of us & reasonably dry ,thats all that matters!! It was not the fact we had to move 4 times, it was the hanging around in rooms waiting for promises that were never met and the lies we were told By both hotel staff & AIRTOURS REP.They say the Domincan Republicans are laid back, I call them (In this hotel) lazy & full of #~!! the rest of the place was not much better. Although I personally think the female staff in the buffet restuarant were pleasant. pool poor, kids entertainment/ activities, poor and tables around the bars scarce!!!!!

Three friends and I (all students) visited the Club on the Green during our reading week this February. We could not have been more impressed by the resort! The rooms were spacious, air conditioned and comfortable. We did not see one bug in the rooms, there were no leaks, and we had an amazingly large porch. The food at the buffet was decent--if you like meat like I do you'll feel right at home. Does get tiring after a few days. The a la carte restaurants are amazing!!
Tennis courts, horseback riding, nightly shows--all included and all fun! The beach is a 2 min. drive on the shuttle that goes almost every 5 minutes--awesome spot to tan and swim. Pool is decent but we hung out at the beach all day. DRINKS DRINKS DRINKS--they just kept them coming--bars left and right (sometimes a lil too strong but I'm not compaining!) But the best feature about this resort was the fabulous staff who were always friendly! We made friends with a lot of the crew--shout out to Tanya and Enrique!! The disco at night is what you make of it--we had a blast there every night--bring your own CDs and they will play them!! We all highly recommend this resort and would not hesitate going back.

My mom and I just got back tonite from Puerta Plata and our stay at
Club on the Green. We had been booked into the Paradise Beach Resort
before(a 4 star) but when we got there our room was a dump and so was
the resort. We had to climb a spiral staircase to access our attic like
room that had no furniture!! We checked out Club on the Green Resort(a
3 star) and found it to be much better. We saw a room before moving in
there and it was adequate. We took the room and we had a few mishaps,
but for a country like dominican I heard our problems were normal. The
staff was a bit slow in doing things.(ie. a blanket took 10 hours and 4
phone calls to actually get to our room) and the sink did not drain
really fast and you can hear people above walking around and when they
flushed the toilet it shook our bathroom. Otherwise the food was
decent9better than Paradises's by far) , Franklin at the front desk was
friendly, and the maids were nice too. The pools were great except one
of them has really loud music but that was OK as there was an adults
only pool to go to as well. The bar was great and the pina coladas were
good. I found a black bug with a red head in my bathroom and some dead
ones in the window sills.....again I am told, this is normal and in
alot of hotels in Dominican Republic.
Overall it was alot better than our first resort. The rooms were cleaned very well each day...but they should get rid of the rusty fridges in the rooms as it takes away from what is nice there. Overall I think you will be pleased with this resort if you go. Just DO NOT go to Paradise Beach Resort and Casino....unless you want to stay in a dump from hell!!

Village On The Green was a nice holiday. The staff were friendly and helpful although not many had a command of the English language but hey I was in their county. The room had a small problem with the overhead fan and after several hours and several repair staff, we had them move us to another room as the repair attempt created dust and dirt from the fixture. The new room was much better, nice patio and cleaner feel to it. The main pool was just a little to busy. We spent our time at the beach or the relax (adult only) pool. Self serve refreshments soft drinks and beer available and the water was very cool. The beach was okay but SMOKERS it isn't a giant ashtray, have some consideration put your butts in a cup and dispose of them when you leave. Much more about smokers and their inconsiderate manners but not here. All things considered, price, friendly staff, and a solid week of sunshine and good food especially The Miranda, we had a good time. PS If you plan to watch any TV take a universal remote, they lost so mny they removed them from the rooms.

Let's start off with the good points:William the bartender was so friendly and happy for the entire week 5 stars for him. WEATHER WAS GREAT, it's agood thing they had no control on that. Some of the other staff was friendly but overall they pretended not to understand or speak english until they needed to. Where do I start. Keep in mind this was our delayed honeymoon. We checked in headed to the bar, seems they DON'T have a blender to make those drinks you dream about while lying on the beach(lots of litter at the beach where we sat) or the main pool(very cold and dirty). The quiet pool bar was closed with just a beer tap flowing and the area smelled like a waste site. In the restaurant the food was bland, with no taste and not good at all. Good coffee though. In the restaurant noone poured water for us all week,it was rare when we had dishes removed from our table before we left.
Since we booked our package as a honeymoon we were told we would be upgraded if it was available. It was availabel but we were not upgraded. We received some fruit instead,which we gave to the painters.
We did have a stove in our room, but there were no dishes or utensils and it was an all inclusive so I'm not sure why it was there and don't know if it worked. We met other people who had a fridge and stove ,neither workded. In the middle of the week I discovered some friends in the room. That's right MAGGOTS in the bathroom and on the balcony and the main floor. I told the front desk they said it would be fumigated and taken care of and we couldn't move to anew room as they were full,well the next 2 days I told them the same thing. I also told our COnquest rep the same thing and she complained but the front desk person said noone had told them. Except me 3 times,I guess that didn't matter. All I can say is my wife and I now call the place ........GRUB on the Green.........Stay away....Overall out of 5 I rate it a big 1 star. We tipped our bartender approx $35.00US for the week, which is quite a bit for them. We didn't tip the restaurant staff except Francisco,as noone deserved anything............It is a tip for services rendered which we didn't receive much of the entire week and at XMAS prices......NOT HAPPY AT ALL...............
