A wedding day to remember.

My husband and I married at the Iberostar and all of the staff made us feel special from the moment we got there until the day we left. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. Santos the wedding coordinator was absolutely amazing and arranged everything from flowers, champagne, cake, photo's, dvd, guitar trio, judge and wedding certificate. He even took us to the top of the hotel to meet the DJ and to look through all of his cds to choose a special song for our first dance together. Thank you Santos for making our day so special. Everyone that sees our wedding photo's say that they are the best wedding photo's that they have ever seen. You could not fault the hotel or the staff for anything. The food was excellent. The entertainment was ongoing from morning until night. The staff worked very hard and very long hours and were always very pleasant, polite and helpful. Thank you to everyone at the Iberostar.

Everything was absolutely fantastic! Jullian and Riccardo behind the bar were little diamonds and always had our drinks waiting (wicked)... all of the star friends were just amazing, the nicest people I've ever met... especially Tun Tun! But you're all really fab people and I love every single one of you! I fell in love with the place completely; I didn't want to go home. The shows that the animation team put on were just incredible, one in particular which I can only describe as WOW was The Lion Ling! It made me cry it was so good. It's by far the best holiday I've ever had, I will definitely be returning very soon... sorry George, haha! I can't wait to go back. The hotel is beautiful and really fun, but I would definitely advise going out into town for the night... the clubs are wicked! Love and hugs to all the guys, see you all soon xxxx

This was my first family holiday + in-laws and what a holiday loved it so much I am going back in Aug 07 for my honeymoon I would recommend it to any one who has the time to go out there.

Hotel and staff first class, food very good for all tastes, theme restaurants, very good, staff could not be faulted for friendliness and helpfulness, pool large, numerous beds and daily towels, beach under renovation, but nearby resort available (not told by direct holidays prior to visit !) only downside is the departure from Puerto Plata airport long queue at customs for at least an hour standing in extreme heat with children, and the fact that our suit case was entered by baggage staff and goods stolen even though it had a lock, enq reveal numerous other cases were also entered and goods stolen, suggest quality locks on all bags if traveling.

We arrived to be greeted by a welcome cocktail and shown to our room which was very nice - TV, fridge/minibar, balcony overlooking palm trees and the pool etc.
The food was excellent. We ate mainly in the main buffet restaurant because it catered more for different tastes - especially handy if you have children who like different things!!
We did eat in the Brazilian and Caribbean restaurants which we thought were very good but not much for picky children (my child's fault not the restaurant!).
The pool was huge, warm and very clean with plenty of sun loungers. Clean towels provided at the poolside daily.
The beach was clean, sea warm and again plenty of loungers. We had a fab lunch one day when they cooked paella on the beach with huge fresh lobsters, music playing and cocktails flowing.
There were lots of bars, a nightclub, children's entertainment, an evening show and relaxation areas.
The hotel was not rowdy or rough. All the staff were really friendly and if you tried to speak Spanish they loved it although everyone spoke English.
I couldn't fault the hotel at all and we're going back next year.
Word of warning - the flight was with Thomsons and was AWFUL so we're not going with them again!!!

The most amazing holiday x

Well I don't know where to start, when we arrived we where given a cold cocktail like a slush puppy, the hotel was gorgeous so big and well laid out. The food was very nice there was a buffet was everything you could think of in it, it was well laid out and the waiters were very friendly and very polite. There was a Mexican restaurant, a Brazilian restaurant and also a tropical one we never went to the tropical one because we are not really fish fans. The entertainers throughout the days very very good there was always something to do even if you are 2yrs old or 102yrs old. The Dominicans were very friendly even in the non-tourist areas. The entertainment was fantastic at night there was amazing shows and some nights they drag you up to the stage which is very embarrassing but it was a laugh. Me and sister got very friendly with the dancers and the day entertainers (star friends) there was Scooby, Gregory, Tun Tun, Cecila, Jorge, Cocoruco, Iasac, Owendi, Rafeal and may more, don't miss out on the day trips they are very good and you get to see allot. Also the resort had Flamingos at the reception they were so cute they also had false map turtles at reception too which my sister loves as she has 2 false map turtles herself. The hotel rooms were very well air-conditioned and tipping the maid she will top up your mini bar every day we just left her little hair clips and stuff like that. The swimming pool was massive and was warm at all times which was good. You can always get a sun loungers at the pool side or the gardens and on the beach and there is always security guards around to keep you from getting hassled by the locals trying to sell you stuff if you don't want them, they try to make you feel guilty by telling you they have no money and stuff and if your anything like me I would just buy stuff because I feel bad haha. There is so much more about this amazing holiday to tell, but why not just go see for yourself. I'm going back in May I loved it so much.

I have recently come back from the Dominican Republic and I thought it was the most amazing and best holiday ever. Words can't describe it! It's a paradise! The whole place is fantastic! The food in the hotel is unbelievable and the service is top class. The people are so friendly and the hotel has a wide range of activities. I swam with dolphins, quad biked, done water sports and got involved in the hotels daytime activities. The shows on a night time are fantastic! They are of such high quality! My favourite water was Jose who worked in the lobby bar! He was great! Route 66 was the night club where I and my friends who I met there hung out, it was really good!. But all in all it was a fantastic holiday and I am considering returning next year!

We went for our Silver wedding in May, the Staff are fantastic and the hotel is beautiful. The pool is the cleanest we have ever seen, it does have its own pool boy, who cleans all day, give him a few pesos he deserves it, the beach was lovely and cleaned every day and the sea is very warm, the sun was very hot, be careful. The food was amazing with plenty of choice,and drinks available all day, try the bucks fizz, yummy. We were left champagne and fruit in our room on our anniversary and fancy towels in animals shapes by the cleaners, very thoughtful. We have already booked again for next May.

Went to the iberostar for honeymoon, brilliant. Staff friendly & polite. Hard working but always smiling. Great food and great entertainment. Pool & garden area breathtaking. Beach & scenery superb. Horse riding and safari a experience. Coming back 2007. My 50th. Cannot wait. Cheers

Fantastic

My husband and I left our two children with gran parents and we stayed at the Iberostar for a week in February. We had a fantastic time with no real complaints. The staff are fantastic, smiling, friendly and helpful, room was clean and spacious. The pool area huge and fantastic with loads of sunbeds, although you have to get early for poolside seats. The food is plentiful with good choice, although on a daily basis very similar. Lots of activities if you want things to do but we just lazed on our sunbeds all week and that was fine too. Beach nice but nothing spectacular and the sea was a little bit sea weedy in places. All in all a great weeks holiday!

I was in the Iberostar Costa Dorada this Christmas with my family! it was the most amazing trip EVER! beautiful weather, awesome view and the people were the best! i met alot of people from all over, especially some canadians and english girls! the best part was the nights, the staff were so friendly (some more than others...junior!)! but the disco was fun, and i would recommend this resort to any young people looking to have fun! the staff made my trip the best for me! julio, calvin, eduardo, vladimir, so good people! i will go back agian forsure! i miss all the people i met there! GO AND HAVE FUN!

Excellent choice for Hotel

We had the pleasure of staying at this resort for a week in Feb. /03. The resort was beautiful and the service was excellent. The food wasn't rated high on our list, alot of the food is prepared Dominican style. If your a salad eater bring your own salad dressing they only had two kinds and neither were very good. Don't expect a lot of seafood!! The staff are friendly and most speak english. We can't say anything bad about our stay, every vacation has it's ups and downs and everyone has their own expectations, I had a high expectation of the beach and I didn't find it that nice. I've read many reviews on this hotel and I think some people expect way more than they deserve, I highly recommend this resort to anyone who is looking to have a good time, their nightly entertainment is awesome.

We spent two weeks this Christmas at the best place on earth - the Iberostar Costa Dorada! The resort was amazing (pool, food, disco, shows - all perfect!) It was great to be with family in such a wonderful place. I did have the opportunity to get to know the entertainers mentioned in an earlier review and they were nothing short of amazing! Extremely hospitable and friendly, they showed us the town and were nothing we couldn't handle. Part of our trip that was so special was making the friendships that we did - I couldn't have asked for anything better. The genuinely happy, friendly, "I love my job" attitude of the staff was overwhelming. What great people! What a great resort!

Jan 25 - Feb 1st. After some mix up with booking at Bahia Principe San Juan, we were upgraded to the Iberostar Costa Dorada. We were extremely impressed with this resort. We've been to other all inclusive trips in Cancun, and Tampico, Mexico but this resort does not even compare. It was definitely a 5 star rating. Right from when we arrived we were greeted with drinks and friendly service. The food was excellent including buffets and 3 a la cartes. Just remember boys no flip flops allowed at dinner - even in the buffet. The hotel lobby/bar was very clean and lush looking. We also really enjoyed Route 66 (the disco on site the resort). The pool was great with etertainment and the beach was nice as well. I've seen better beaches but we were there for an R&R and stayed by the pool anyway. The night entertainment was also great and enjoyable. Rooms in the resort were always clean and we received fresh flowers daily. Over all we had a great time and even met 5 other couples to keep in touch with. A great experience - thanks for the memories.

We just got back from a two week stay at this resort. There was a group of 27 of us that went their for our wedding. It truly was paradise! The resort itself is so beautiful and spacious. The food was excellent as were the drinks! The wedding was equally as beautiful and the staff there made it so easy - there was no stress at all. Everyone in our group enjoyed their stay immensley. and were not ready to leave at the end of the two weeks. If you visit this resort, be sure to look for Domingo and Joselyn, as they are two of the sweetest people you will meet there.

We visited the hotel back in September 2001 and this was my first time to the Carribbean and to an All Inclusine hotel so I had nothing to compare it to but I was so amazed by the whole hotel and experience.
There was nothing that we really missed or needed. The food was amazing the whole time (and I really find the food important). The staff were really friendly and although we found the entertainment very cheesy (Miss Iberostar with "who let the dogs out" in the background was a killer!!!!) they really did try so hard.
Went on two trips (Catamaran and Jungle tour) and both were fab!
Only negatives are people trying to sell you stuff on the beach and the fact the security guards have guns (quite freaky for British people!).
My only concern now is that I won't find anything quite as good. I am off to Varadero in Cuba and the reports I have read on this website have filled me with dread!

We ended up at Iberostar after a nightmare of a time at Superclubs Breezes and I couldn't have asked for more. The staff is fantastic, the food is great, the activities endless and the resort itself is beautiful! Great for couples or families. Iberostar is everything one could ever dream of.....and more.

Watch Out For Teenage Daughter

IMPORTANT: they had several Domincan guys working there as entertainment guys. these guys were sheep during the day and wolves at nite. several times, i saw them trying to take advantage of under-age tourist girls (like 16) while their parents were sleeping at nite. these girls were woed and taken advantage of by these semi-charming guys who were really only sexual predators. watch out for your young daughter ! dont leave her alone there at nite while you sleep in your room.

while the food variety was good, sometimes you couldnt eat it. the food looked better than it tasted. the fish was aweful. the taste was very sickening. the beef texture was like leather. they really need to get a better chef.
i have stayed at some 3-star places in the carribean and they had better quality food.
while they had 3 restaurants, you could only make reservations there between 8 and 11 in the AM !!!
it was impossible to get on the "free non-motorized water activities" list as these were always booked as we were told.
there were no waitors by the poolside, while many 3-star places have this.
the beach is really terrible. the sand is ugly brown and the sea is full of sea weed. almost noone ventured to take a swim in the sea.
there was no elevator. if you have arthritis or other condition like a bad heart, think twice about this 3-story hotel.

i must say however the service staff were curteous
and prompt. the rooms were clean and everything worked properly.

My sister with son,my son and I went to Iberostar Costa Dorada hotel for the first time on March 28th 2002.We stayed for 7 nights.It was the best vacation for us.In February 14th 2003 my family and I will come again. See you soon!

Top Local Tips for Puerto Plata

Beaches The beaches in most of Puerto Plata aren't the white sand beaches of Punta Cana, so if you get the chance we went on the Monster Truck Safari tour which took us to a beautiful little private white sand beach and the Paradise Island tour where you can snorkel at the coral reef were great...

Crowded Tours Be careful of the the many "tours", even the ones sponsored by on-site tour operators. Our cross-island tour included visits to farm, locals' home, school, beachside luncheon, horseback riding and beach time - all way over-booked as we were constantly confronted by a series of other tours vising the exact same places at exactly the same time - 6 to 7 vehicles each holding 20 vacationers.

Popcorn at the ICD Go to the Pool/Snack bar around 4:30 p.m. They make popcorn.
