Best holiday ever

My husband and I have just returned from iberostar costa dorado cannot believe some of the comments i read before we went. I actually got very anxious thinking had I booked the wrong holiday for us. We are seasoned travellers and like to stay at 4 star hotels which this certainly was. More to the point it was terrific value for money. We travelled premium with thomas cook which I can't praise enough. We find them so good we travel to uk to go on holiday our rep amanda in iberostar was absolute tops we stayed in block 5 on top floor overlooking beach which was a fab room spotless and our fridge restocked every day the room was fumagated on both wednesdays and certainly mo smell left and we had no bugs etc for the full two weeks. The food and entertainment were excellent only bad thing i put 2 pounds in weight on the ice cream cones are to die for i could go on and on with praise for this hotel that beats all with their fantastic staff i had just one suggestion that I left with the hotel that was people allowed into reception and lounge in swimwear should not be allowed when poolbar is available a very small observation for holiday we had I would say to anyone who has booked to go get ready for you are in for a fab time and make sure to have a look in harrisons jewellers fantastic also some great trips to go on we also had 2 weeks of glorious sunshine a few storms during odd day but fascinating to experience were gone in hour also the beach and sea fab some seaweed but nothing to stop you being on beach all day like we were from 7.30am till 4pm each day heaven i would have no hesistation in recommending iberostar costa dorado to anyone and will certainly be going back.

Just sorry I gave the hotel a rating of 9 in my first review but I think it does deserve a 10 apart from factors out of the control of the hotel, eg rain. but the hotel was fantastic so I am offically changing my rating to a ten. Super

My Great Holiday

Let me start by saying what a great hotel the iberostar is. The rooms were lovely and cleaned everyday (air conditioning was great). We went as a family of 10 and ate in the main buffet restaurant every morning, afternoon and night. The choice was out of this world and the food was of a high standard (as a chef myself I was very impressed) and I've been told to say hi to the waffle chef and the omelet chef. The bars were always busy but someone always served us quite quick, your tom colins were out of this world.
Thanks to the waiters who served us as they were the friendliest, funniest waiters we've ever encountered. They were always ready to help and they kept the kids entertained. They truly went beyond the call of duty. Then there were the shows on a evening. What can I say but brilliant how the star friends can put on such a good show every night is unbelievable. They were all fantastic. The star friends also did a great job in the day keeping everyone entertained with games and chit chat. Then there is the hotels fantastic pool with jacuzzi in the middle (heaven). The lovely gardens and backdrops. Thanks for a excellent holiday and looking after all 10 of us .

Just one thing to say and thats super pa pa.

What a nightmare

Where on earth do I begin. I ate at the buffet restaurant the first night and ended up with a really bad tummy upset which lasted all of 4 days. The hotel shrugged all responsibilty for this saying I shouldn't eat things that may unbalance my tummy. The pool had the worst chlorine factor ever and made my eyes sting upon contact with the water and when i did fancy a swim there were people doing stupid games or water arobics. (no consideration for what i was doing). then theres the lobby bar were the drinks appear to be watered down so although you look like you are getting alot of acohol your never getting drunk. I know it seems like I am moaning but I am genrally not. the staff all seemed polite but when I asked for some food to be delivered to my room when i was suffering from my tummy bug I got told to either go to the buffet hall or i couldnt eat. and just to top this holiday off I was bit by about 60 mosquitos in my room.
There was this member of the entertainment team who would flirt with my girlfriend every night we went out dancing and getting close and telling jokes in the end i had to complain to front desk.
And the beach was full of people wanting to braid your hair or sell you a sea shell you couldnt relax.

BEST HOLIDAY EVER!!

Me and my boyfriend recently stayed at the Iberostar, Costa Dorada and it was by far the best hotel and holiday ever. Surrounded by beautiful gardens, water features and a very friendly and inviting atmosphere. The pool is massive and has a lovely clean beach, and no trouble getting a sunbed. The food is great, tried both the Mexican and Brazilian very different but really nice food. We didn't try the tropical restaurant didn't get a chance the holiday went too quick! We mainly ate at the buffet restaurant there's so much to choose from and the best desserts possible yum yum! Throughout the day there's so much to do watersports and poolside games with the lively entertainment team (STARFRIENDS). Please do take plenty of spending money with you as there's so many excursions to do that all have brilliant reviews. Swimming with the dolphins at Ocean World is an unforgettable experience and taking a short flight to the Caribbean side of the island and a speedboat to the island of Saona, an absolutely gorgeous sight and beach!, a must do trip called Caribbean Wonders! The staff and maids work so hard and just can't do enough for you I just wanted to keep tipping them. I really didn't want to come home. I definitely want to go back nxt year and do three weeks so I can explore the island and try all the different excursions. A definite holiday for all types of age groups and people searching for total relaxation.

A bit late in sending a review but felt I should as we are going back there in 2 days time again!! I have been reading the reviews for the past 2 weeks and thought I should add to the fab compliments this hotel & staff have received. We are a family of 4 and found this to be the best holiday we have ever had, my children who are now 13 & 18 enjoyed every minute of it as we did too. The weather managed to hold out for us too just one day of rain last year (I can cope with that). So hopefully we will have the same amount of enjoyment as we did last year. Trips we did were fab too, adventure world & Dominican discovery. ;-) x

Well, I came back from my second visit to the Iberostar Costa Dorada last June. This is the best place in the world, so romantic. I'm going back in August this year and I can't wait.....paradise, here I come!!

Fantastic choice of hotel. 5*. Very affordable price. Great location - right on the beach.

There was plenty to do every day – and no pressure to get involved if you choose not to. Star Friends work so hard, both day and night. There is a towel system, where you hand in a card and get a towel.

My little boy had a birthday whilst we were there, and he was very pleased to get a birthday cake delivered to the room! Everyone at the hotel works very hard and is extremely friendly. There were people cleaning and maintaining the hotel the entire time.

We mainly ate in the buffet restaurant – a very wide choice of food available. You can't fail to find something you like. We tried the Mexican restaurant one night, but was very disappointed with the type of food there. We also tried the beach restaurant one evening and liked that a lot – although obviously not air conditioned, so was a bit uncomfortable.

Myself and my parents have recently stayed at the Iberostar Hotel, Costa Dorado, Dominican Republic. We thought the hotel was great, the staff were very helpful, friendly and warming, the food was great, plenty of it, the facilities was great, and the rooms were great. A great fortnight to have a great rest and from stress of life, and do nothing and be waited on for a fortnight.

Everything was great, everyone was so friendly, the location was excellent and all the services provided were great too. Also there's lots of facilities to entertain you. I would recommend you to go, it's worth every penny. Missing it now I'm home, want to go back soon, it feels like yesterday.

My husband and I left our two children with gran parents and we stayed at the Iberostar for a week in February. We had a fantastic time with no real complaints. The staff are fantastic, smiling, friendly and helpful, room was clean and spacious. The pool area huge and fantastic with loads of sunbeds, although you have to get early for poolside seats. The food is plentiful with good choice, although on a daily basis very similar. Lots of activities if you want things to do but we just lazed on our sunbeds all week and that was fine too. Beach nice but nothing spectacular and the sea was a little bit sea weedy in places. All in all a great weeks holiday!

I was in the Iberostar Costa Dorada this Christmas with my family! it was the most amazing trip EVER! beautiful weather, awesome view and the people were the best! i met alot of people from all over, especially some canadians and english girls! the best part was the nights, the staff were so friendly (some more than others...junior!)! but the disco was fun, and i would recommend this resort to any young people looking to have fun! the staff made my trip the best for me! julio, calvin, eduardo, vladimir, so good people! i will go back agian forsure! i miss all the people i met there! GO AND HAVE FUN!

We had the pleasure of staying at this resort for a week in Feb. /03. The resort was beautiful and the service was excellent. The food wasn't rated high on our list, alot of the food is prepared Dominican style. If your a salad eater bring your own salad dressing they only had two kinds and neither were very good. Don't expect a lot of seafood!! The staff are friendly and most speak english. We can't say anything bad about our stay, every vacation has it's ups and downs and everyone has their own expectations, I had a high expectation of the beach and I didn't find it that nice. I've read many reviews on this hotel and I think some people expect way more than they deserve, I highly recommend this resort to anyone who is looking to have a good time, their nightly entertainment is awesome.

We spent two weeks this Christmas at the best place on earth - the Iberostar Costa Dorada! The resort was amazing (pool, food, disco, shows - all perfect!) It was great to be with family in such a wonderful place. I did have the opportunity to get to know the entertainers mentioned in an earlier review and they were nothing short of amazing! Extremely hospitable and friendly, they showed us the town and were nothing we couldn't handle. Part of our trip that was so special was making the friendships that we did - I couldn't have asked for anything better. The genuinely happy, friendly, "I love my job" attitude of the staff was overwhelming. What great people! What a great resort!

Jan 25 - Feb 1st. After some mix up with booking at Bahia Principe San Juan, we were upgraded to the Iberostar Costa Dorada. We were extremely impressed with this resort. We've been to other all inclusive trips in Cancun, and Tampico, Mexico but this resort does not even compare. It was definitely a 5 star rating. Right from when we arrived we were greeted with drinks and friendly service. The food was excellent including buffets and 3 a la cartes. Just remember boys no flip flops allowed at dinner - even in the buffet. The hotel lobby/bar was very clean and lush looking. We also really enjoyed Route 66 (the disco on site the resort). The pool was great with etertainment and the beach was nice as well. I've seen better beaches but we were there for an R&R and stayed by the pool anyway. The night entertainment was also great and enjoyable. Rooms in the resort were always clean and we received fresh flowers daily. Over all we had a great time and even met 5 other couples to keep in touch with. A great experience - thanks for the memories.

We just got back from a two week stay at this resort. There was a group of 27 of us that went their for our wedding. It truly was paradise! The resort itself is so beautiful and spacious. The food was excellent as were the drinks! The wedding was equally as beautiful and the staff there made it so easy - there was no stress at all. Everyone in our group enjoyed their stay immensley. and were not ready to leave at the end of the two weeks. If you visit this resort, be sure to look for Domingo and Joselyn, as they are two of the sweetest people you will meet there.

We visited the hotel back in September 2001 and this was my first time to the Carribbean and to an All Inclusine hotel so I had nothing to compare it to but I was so amazed by the whole hotel and experience.
There was nothing that we really missed or needed. The food was amazing the whole time (and I really find the food important). The staff were really friendly and although we found the entertainment very cheesy (Miss Iberostar with "who let the dogs out" in the background was a killer!!!!) they really did try so hard.
Went on two trips (Catamaran and Jungle tour) and both were fab!
Only negatives are people trying to sell you stuff on the beach and the fact the security guards have guns (quite freaky for British people!).
My only concern now is that I won't find anything quite as good. I am off to Varadero in Cuba and the reports I have read on this website have filled me with dread!

We ended up at Iberostar after a nightmare of a time at Superclubs Breezes and I couldn't have asked for more. The staff is fantastic, the food is great, the activities endless and the resort itself is beautiful! Great for couples or families. Iberostar is everything one could ever dream of.....and more.

Watch Out For Teenage Daughter

IMPORTANT: they had several Domincan guys working there as entertainment guys. these guys were sheep during the day and wolves at nite. several times, i saw them trying to take advantage of under-age tourist girls (like 16) while their parents were sleeping at nite. these girls were woed and taken advantage of by these semi-charming guys who were really only sexual predators. watch out for your young daughter ! dont leave her alone there at nite while you sleep in your room.

while the food variety was good, sometimes you couldnt eat it. the food looked better than it tasted. the fish was aweful. the taste was very sickening. the beef texture was like leather. they really need to get a better chef.
i have stayed at some 3-star places in the carribean and they had better quality food.
while they had 3 restaurants, you could only make reservations there between 8 and 11 in the AM !!!
it was impossible to get on the "free non-motorized water activities" list as these were always booked as we were told.
there were no waitors by the poolside, while many 3-star places have this.
the beach is really terrible. the sand is ugly brown and the sea is full of sea weed. almost noone ventured to take a swim in the sea.
there was no elevator. if you have arthritis or other condition like a bad heart, think twice about this 3-story hotel.

i must say however the service staff were curteous
and prompt. the rooms were clean and everything worked properly.

My sister with son,my son and I went to Iberostar Costa Dorada hotel for the first time on March 28th 2002.We stayed for 7 nights.It was the best vacation for us.In February 14th 2003 my family and I will come again. See you soon!

Top Local Tips for Puerto Plata

Beaches The beaches in most of Puerto Plata aren't the white sand beaches of Punta Cana, so if you get the chance we went on the Monster Truck Safari tour which took us to a beautiful little private white sand beach and the Paradise Island tour where you can snorkel at the coral reef were great...

Crowded Tours Be careful of the the many "tours", even the ones sponsored by on-site tour operators. Our cross-island tour included visits to farm, locals' home, school, beachside luncheon, horseback riding and beach time - all way over-booked as we were constantly confronted by a series of other tours vising the exact same places at exactly the same time - 6 to 7 vehicles each holding 20 vacationers.

Popcorn at the ICD Go to the Pool/Snack bar around 4:30 p.m. They make popcorn.
