There was a large group of us going! 10! when we first got there our rooms were awful at first but then it got sorted, the rest of the hotel made up 4 it though! THE FUN TEAM were fab! i loved them all, elvis and shaagy were so much fun! if i had a choice i would go back straight away! the food was great and i never ever woz bord coz the entertainment woz on 24/7! the hotel beds were comfy 2! i would totally recomend it!

This was our second time there. The accommodations were great, the food was better than it's ever been and the personnel at the hotel were extremely friendly and accommodating. A very tropical atmosphere to be enjoyed by both adults and children alike. We've been to the D.R. 12 times. It's the place to go.

I went to the Domincan for the first time 3 years ago and stayed at the Villa Doradas and can I say what an excellent time we had... Ok the hotel wasn't mega brilliant but at the end of the day you are paying for a 3 star complex....It was alot better than most places..It was right on the beach! ..If you want a luxury holiday then spend another £600-& £800 for a 5 star complex...... I only paid £640 for a 2 weeks all inclusive holiday and it was well worth it!! The food was nice, they did different themes each night although you do get a little fed up of the same things after 2 weeks but if you went a 5 star complex you'd be fed up of that too!! I know cause ive been to the Dominican 3 times now!! The staff were really friendly and helpful and very entertaining and got the place buzzing. The rooms were comfortable especially the huge king size beds.... The pool was clean and the guys were constantly out there cleaning it. Overall its a nice place to go if you want a cheaper carribean holiday..You do get what you pay for so I reckon if you're fussy people and are gonna be quick enough to winge about it then go elsewhere. Villa Doradas I loved it!!!!!

PS I have also been to the complex next door - the Occidental Allegro..
The room was disgusting, on the first door our patio door fell apart and we couldn't secure it....it only took the maintenance guys 4 days to come and fix it! The air conditioning made a right racket and eventually stopped working, we had a leaking toilet which the maintenance guys SO CALLED fixed but to our horror 2 nights before we left to come home...the room was 4 inches deep in water!!!! We had wet clothes, shoes, suitcases and a floating lilo!! The room stuck of toilet water....we ended up having to pack our wet cases up and moving to another room..what a nightmare time it was...I just wanted to come home at this point...We'd had enough! Although the food was better the service was appalling..I would not step foot in that place again.....

My son and myself stayed at this hotel in May 2002.We got this holiday as a last minute late deal.We payed £500 for this holiday including flights so we wern't expecting anything fancy.After a10hr long flight we were just longing to crash out by the hotel pool. The drive to the hotel wasn't too long,but along the route you could see the sad conditions the locals lived in. Anyway my first impressions as we drove up to the hotel, a band was playing latin music to welcome us and at reception they handed us welcome cooling drinks, very nice touch i thought maybe we did the right choice by getting a late deal.....THIS IS WHERE MY HOLIDAY FROM HELL BEGINS....... We had to lugg our lugage to the other side of the resort, past people suning themselves by the pool, we were going around in circles trying to find this room. Half an hour later we trugged ourselves and bags up two flights of stairs, past a couple of screaming kids and parents shouting in the background.(by the way their are no lifts in this place.) When we managed to open our room door(after fighting to open the door with the key) What a sight!
this room reminded me of an old broken down bedsit that hadn't seen a duster in weeks.The room was dark, smelt stale, cobwebs on the wall, afamily of ants marching on the walls all over the bed clothes everywhere. Our first night was hell, the sheets wer'e torn and had brown stains on them, it was hot but we could'nt ge the windows to open, we couldn't sit out on the balcony .....because their wasn't one!
The food in the resort was disgustng it reminded me somewhat of school dinners. The only posetive thing i can say about this hotel was the staff, they wer'e very friendly and polite. We didn't take any of the organised trips, but we explored on our own. We met some lovely dominicans on the beach, they took us to their home and made us some real dominican food (very tasty). We spent the rest of the 14 days hanging out with this family hardly spending time in the hotel which was good.On the whole, enjoyed my holiday with the locals......but I'd say to anyone who have already booked to go to this hotel....either cancel.....or be prepared for the worst hotel ever!

Just returned from what for us will always be a memorable experience.
We and our two daughters had a fabulous time- the hotel caters for all ages and tastes. The cleanliness of the rooms, the food and entertainment are superb.

A special thanks to the fun team who never found it too much trouble to talk and get involved with everything that was going on without being intrusive. We must just mention one or two in particular, shaggy, speedy and of course chayanne.

The girls insist we add "Mr Lover Lover man" (they would die for him).

We would recommmend Villas Doradas to anyone.

Admittedly we did not get what we expected when we arrived at the Villas Doradas but then our holiday was not expensive. The common areas such as the restaurants, bars and swimming pool are all very nice. The rooms are in need of some maintenance with damp patches showing due to the humid climate but they were always kept clean with towels changed daily. Basically, you get what you pay for and this is not expensive accomodation. If you want a classy resort, pay for one- Jack Tar Village is very good.

The hotel was clean, the food was nice, the staff were great.....what more could you ask for. We met loads of great people. I have to say hi to the FUN TEAM! Shaggy, Coffee and Speedy! We visited this hotel in Apr 2003. The hotel really is a 2 star and is very basic. We stayed just one night and couldn't wait to get out of there. We upgraded to a 4 star next door - the Grand Flamenco belonging to the occidental group and had a great holiday. If you like to be on holiday with lager louts then go to the Villa's Dorada, if you want a touch of class and don't want to drink out of a plastic throw away cup all holiday then go next door! I've never met such miserable and unhelpful staff, not to mention spending so much time standing in line to see the rep who's constantly having to deal with customer complaints.

We decided to go to Villas Doradas because it was the cheapest and we were therefore not expecting much, but it was awesome! The staff were so sweet, the food was great, the beach was nice, the rooms were big and nice, and the hotel was clean and trendy. I honestly can't think of any bad thing about the place. We still can not get over how awesome it was. I would recommend it to anyone.
