Just returned from a great 2 week vacation. The food, entertainment and rooms were great. The first week my sons were there with us and had a great time. The staff is great, everyday the cleaning staff put fresh flowers in your room and the rooms were always very clean. The food was great, you could always find something tasty to eat. The bartenders and dining room staff were friendly and we had great service. Nightly entertainment was wonderful, from magic shows, dancing, karoke, etc. The pool and the beach is beautiful, The thing we really enjoyed was the "FUN TEAM", hats off to Oscar, Scooby Doo, Oswald, Winston. Mike Tyson (look alike) Sophia and the rest of the gang for giving us some great laughs and always keeping things interesting. On this vacation we met great people from England, Denver, Boston, Toronto ,Etc. and make some memories that will always stay with us . Would return in a heartbeat. Our rating OH BE JESUS a great time!!!!!!!!!!

You need to break this holiday down into segments. The rooms are dated
and need refurbishing,50% are clean and well maintained so if yours
isnt ask to be moved.
now if you want a laugh good company good buffett food (for a 3 star)and to be entertained by getting involved this is the place we met people from USA,England,France,Canada,Germany,Denmark and Mexico the children were entertained 5 times a day

way if they spent money on the rooms this would be a reccomend
everytime the question is u sleep in the room for 8 hours so on that
basis the other 16 hrs ( pool bar entertainment and food ) 9 out of 10

PLEASE DONT WASTE THE TIME OR YOUR MONEY HERE!!!! When my girlfriend and I arrived at the Dorado Club Resort we were outraged by the quality of the hotel; it was by no means a three star hotel. When I made the booking I was given a superior room with king size bed and balcony, however, when we arrived we were first put into a standard room on the ground floor with no balcony and one small window. In addition the room by dirty, with dirty and broken furniture. The condition of the room was unacceptable: there was mold on the wall, constants smell of dampness, the bathroom drains did not work, the furniture was dirty and broken, we saw two huge cockroaches, the paint on the walls was chipped and scratched, and on several occasions we did not have hot water. In addition to the food was terrible. The overall condition of the room was unsanitary and by no means equaled to the advertised three star rating. We filed a formal complaint with the Hotel Management and Travel Agency. Sorely Disappointing! :(

I've just returned from a one-week stay at Hotel Dorado, and overall it was a great experience. It was my first time in the Dominican Republic and won't be my last! The rooms were cleaned daily by very friendly ladies who liked to make nice swans and things out of our towels. The food was not always that great, but there was certainly enough variety so that a person wouldn't starve. They also have vegetarian dishes. The beach was just a short hop from our resort, and we always managed to find shade under the many palm trees on the beach. When we couldn't find any available sun chairs, the beach staff were more than happy to go and find some for us. If the beach isn't your thing, there is a rather large area around the pool where you can lay on sun chairs and sip cold beverages from the nearby bar. Throughout the day, we were entertained by the animation team, known as the "Fun team" They had various activities people could participate in. A special shout out must go to the fun team, who worked really hard and put in long hours to keep us entertained. My favorites were Scooby Doo, Shaggy, and Oscar, but they were all great! At night, the fun team put on really good shows. One night in particular, they had a Michael Jackson impersonator and the show was nothing short of spectacular! The bar and dining room staff were also really friendly and helpful. I would definitely return to the resort, as long as the same staff were still there.

My husband and I just returned from Puerto Plata. This was our first time staying at the Dorado Club (we booked last minute). Overall, I would have to say that this resort was very pleasant. The rooms very clean and the resort lovely. Beautiful front entrance and excellent pool and pool bar area. The beach is literally only 2 minutes away, but you can feel the breeze everywhere at the resort. The beach was beautiful and very clean. The food was quite good, lots of variety. The only downside is that a lot of the resort had difficulty speaking English. Big time language barrier! I would suggest it to anyone. Great value.

We have just arrived back in miserable cold uk and wanted to share our lasting memories of one of the best weeks we have ever experienced.
Especially after reading some of the comments written by miserable cold people who really must not know how to enjoy life. I must admit, we generally avoided the hotel entertainment -but we would have done this no matter what was on offer- as we know how to entertain ourselves.
This is in no way a reflectioin on the entertainment staff who look like they are at least enjoying themselves. We have never eaten so much in all our lives, with a delicious spread, offering a mix of styles and always with a dominican flavor (after all, when in rome...!) Our one critisim was by the time we booked ourselves into the ala carte restrant at the end of the week, we had eaten so much that we couldnt fit another meal in! All the staff we encountered were friendly and keen. Our hotel apartment was fully equipt (apart from no fridge, but with all inclusive, what do you want that for?) always cleaned to a high standard by a lovely, friendly maid. Yeah the pool is small, but why splash about there when the warmed atlantic sea is just a few minutes stroll along a sandy path, opening onto the hotels' bar on the beach, where you can sip cocktails while reclining onto the golden soft sand or book out the free snorkling gear and go fishy spoting. Make of it what you want, but if you want 5* dont go here.

Our second trip to DR, sorry to say the experiance of our visit in Jan this year will certainly make me think twice of going any where near Playa Dorado again. In particular, Dorado Club, it is a small place consisting of 9 apartment blocks, and I advise anyone to refuse block 5 if your after some peace. One first floor buffet resturant, and a steak grill (by appointment only) I would rate the wholeplace as a low one star, and I'm not the fussy type, if its cheap and dreary you want then this is the place, but for an all inclusive resort be prepared to spend a lot of extra cash in order to eat well and enjoy yourself outside the resort. Also it will cost you $35 for a safe lock & key for your 2 week stay, calls to the reception are also charged. The pool is tiny, the food is of poor standard, lacking choice and bland. The entertainment is poor, one good night was the M Jackson impersonater, who was bloody good. The activities team try hard, but thers only so much interest you can stir up throwing darts and frizbees, and playing water polo/vollyball. The beach is 300m away down a muddy track, and you will be lucky to get a sunbed unless you get there before breakfast! the same goes with the pool, there is a lack of sunbeds and table/chairs for the number of guests. The best bit about the holiday was the friends we made during our stay, mainly by having the same moans about the place. Sorry to say Dorado Club is not what I was expecting, Its back to Breezes for me next time.

This was our 7th trip to Puerto Plata. We thought we were staying at the Hotetur Villas Doradas which we were familiar with and comfortable at once before.

NOT SO! Our travel agent told us they had changed their name and were now Hotetur Doradas Club Resort. NOT SO! They have now 3 Hoteturs and you better make sure what one your agent is selling you, because this Hotetur Doras Club Resort is a dumb and should be closed.

After being up all night, arriving at 10 AM, discovering we were not even going were we thought we were horrified to discover ourselves in the lobby of this Hotetur Doradas Club Resort, an obvious dumb before we had even seen around.

Then we were told check in time wasn't till 3 PM. This was after being up all night and arriving tired, hungry and irritated. And sick

We checked in, and went to the Dining Room while waiting for our 3 PM check in time. . What a laugh. I slopped the big spoon around in several pots of creamy stuff, trying to decide what it was I was eating. Revolting. Try another pot. Same thing, couldn't figure out what it was.

We decide the dining room feels like a Mission. What have we got ourselves into? And what the heck had our regular travel agent of many years done to us?

I was quite ill, so they decide to book us into the "best room in the house, THE LOFT". Anybody would love to have the loft they say. Well the loft is up under the rafter, with deep slopes in the roof line, so there is a window but the roofline covers it totally. We didn't come to the Dominican to live in a room with no light. The bathroom had bare light bulb hanging from the ceiling. We're so exhausted.

We decide to contact the service agent and either move hotels or go home back to Toronto. Never, ever would we have stayed at this Resort.
The more we looked around the more disgusted we were. Being experienced and frequent visitors to the Dominican and Puerto Plata we felt sorry for the people who didn't know they were being ripped off.

In fact the staff we had dealt with so far were ignorant, surly and we just wanted the heck out.

The next day we got moved to the Villas Doradas our original and intended holiday spot. So we stayed for the week.

We enjoyed our vacation. We were there during Christmas time and New Year. We arrived on December 19 and leaved on January 2, 2003.

The place was well animated by scoobie doo, shaggy, spaghetti, danny boy.... etc... The bar tenders are so friendly, smiley and the service is very very fastly. I will never forget Ricardo, Domingo, Marcelino and specialy Oswaldo. This guy was so nice with us. I hope he will be there for our next vacation at your place. Would you please say "Hi" to Oswaldo and Domingo for me.

All the team should stay there, they are so nice.

The buffet was very good too. Specialy on Christmas eve and New year eve. Wow ! Shrimps, scampies, smoked salmon, caviar, good cheeses, etc.... Excellent, very excellent.

We wereplanning to stay a week and only stayed 1 day!! We prepaid for 1 week, 24th-30th, december, today, Christmas day, we are back home. We arrived last night from what was supposed to be a great place! We are used to really all-inclusive resorts, not this crappy place! They don't even have a frig in the room with water! Anyhow, if your'e used to real all-inclusive hotels, you won't want to stay here! The place is run down, the employees are pathetic, the rooms are old, moldy and completely run down. The beach, what a joke!!! You have to exit the complex, walk down a long narrow muddy road to actually get to the beach!!! How can they sell us a package telling us that that they are "on the beach"!!!! when they are not!!! To us, on the beach, is on the beach! We have been totally ripped off! We were in 3 different rooms and all were pathetic. The only 1 we finally stayed in was for 1 night which was merely ok. There was no soap in the bathroom, 2 towels only, smelly, etc. We have traveled to several places in the caribbeach, south america, eucrope, etc., however, never have we been so humiliated and insulted to have paid $1800.00 US$'s for such a horrific place!
