Arriving at the airport P.Plata As soon as you step out of the airport, you will find 2 million "porters" waiting to take your bags to the bus (20 meters away) for you all in T-Shirts that say "PORTER". They look quite official. You need to be really strong when saying NO, and keep hold of your bags. If they manage to get your bags from you then they will ask you for a tip. I already knew this, so I took a few 1 dollar notes with me to give to them which kept them happy. Someone on our coach ended up giving away 50 dollars!! As tipping is quite a big thing in Dominican Republc, take some 1 dollar notes with you.
