Top Local Tips for Roseau

Better than you might think Small local shops sell fried chicken and rice and beans, and fried fish. Though they don't look like much, the food is terrific. There are several very good restaurants serving the local, creole food that should be experienced.

National Holiday If you go to Roseau during the first week on November, consider this. They have a 3 day national holiday - Independence day(s). Everything closes down. That includes restaurants, stores, shops, even public transportation. Shopping on the day before the holiday begins is hectic. Everyone in town seems to be in line shopping for last minute items such as food, water and supplies. And if you try to go downtown on the first two days, it can get pretty crowded because of the parades and cultural events. Also, on the last night of their holiday, it gets very loud at night - real loud and all night. At least in the Castle Comfort area. And it might be tough getting a room.
