I had a great stay at this hotel, but the beds in the hotel were quite uncomfortable, I asked for a wake up call 3 times and never recieved one of them. I feel the decor in the room should be a bit better.

All in all the staff was excellent, the pool bartnder, and the staff in the dining area. I remember his name-Rapael, he did the activities, he was great!!!!! Staff was very friendly....Loved it!!!!!!

Wow! Just got back form Las Brisas yesterday, and already am dying to go back! This is one of those rare resorts that will be all encompassing for almost everyone! The selection, variety, and especially the people are unbelievable. The food needs a little bit of inspiration, but is not bad, and you should quickly find your favourites. Rooms are nice, not exceptional, but how much do you need them? The club in the resort was a bit dead, but thankfully, about 5 minutes outside, there's another one with a very lively crowd, and great music. The beach is lovely, pools are big, lounge chairs are comfy, and did I mention the people? They are some of the warmest, funniest, and most sincere. I'm already digging through the sofas trying to save up to go back. I really love it there, and I'm certain you'll also see why. Adios.

The real Brisas

Like a couple of other all-inclusive beach hotels in the area that have scurried to upgrade their facilities, this hotel is a hybrid: part standard resort hotel with a big and rather uninteresting block structure, part more intimate villa-style accommodation. Mediterranean in style and set amid pleasant gardens, the pastel-colored, red-tile-roofed villas are large and luxurious, with balconies. The atmosphere is one of tranquility, with easy access to an attractive stretch of beach (the water, though, doesn't tend to be as crystalline as in some other spots). The standard hotel next door, built in 1994, doesn't fare well in comparison. Rooms aren't very inspiring for the price, but many of them have good sea views. The staff at Las Brisas has a reputation for being rather chilly, a charge I can verify from my last visit.

Holiday of a life time

Visited Las Brisas for the second time in May 2003. I found that the service was not quite as good as the first time but it was still well within the standards I look for. The staff are so friendly and cannot do enough for you. I stayed in the Hotel first time round but this time I was in the Villas. Still cannot make up my mind what was best. The Villas had more room but the hotel was more lively and for a 40 something couple you need something to liven you up.To sum up, I have never returned to the same hotel in the past and am considering a third visit.I would recommend swimming with the dolphins and the speed boat jungle tour.

Excellent Beach Volleyball (Whan Carlos and George the lifeguards are good to have on your team) If your there for the drinking go see Mike at the pool bar and ask for the "Mike's Special". Will defenetely be returning. You only need to know one spanish word.. "Cervesa" Anyone there from May 2, 2003 - May 10th that know the "My Big fat lebanese vacation group" email me some pics... See ya next year Greg

I had the time of my life......24hr bar(food and drink) Disco 11pm to 3-4 am.a hop skip and a jump from the beach....swim up can't ask for more.......I travel alot and i have been to Cuba before , but I never had as much fun as I did at this resort . The people are friendly and the area is well secured...... at times iI left my belongings alone on the beach with no worries that they would get stolen......At night you can go for a walk alone and there will be many guards to look after you!!! I became good friends with the life guards WaunCarlos and George....and we played alot of v-ball.......if you see an orange v-ball on the beach that was my gift to them:) If any one was here between may2-10 take my email and send some pics of me and my "big fat lebenese Vacation":)

trip of a life time

April 19, 2003My husband and I took our three kids (17,16,14) with us. We had the time of our lives. We can't say enough about the Cuban people. The food was wonderful. The hotel was great, except we did break a few things ie. hair dryer, tub tap. Not a problem. Rooms were average and well air conditioned, but we only needed them for a few hours sleep. Weather was beautiful. beaches were amazing. The kids closed down the Disco every night, then headed to the beach to party till 4 am. The grounds were breath taking. One hint ! Stay away from Mike's cocktail lesson at the pool bar a 2:00pm. You will find out why, when you get there. I could go on and on for pages, but the local Guardalavacain people are some of the greatest people I have ever met. The place is amazing, but it is the people that make this place OUT OF THIS WORLD !!! We only had a week. I'm not sure that even two would have been enough. The night we left was so sad. Kids wanted to stay forever. If you don't love this place you should just stay home!!!!

This was my 6th trip to Guardalavaca. The incredible staff at this hotel make the experience memorable. Their professionalism, friendliness and generosity is overwhelming. The nightly shows put on by the "animacion" team showcase their versatile talents. The food can be a bit bland but unfortunately they must appeal to masses. I would definitely bring some garlic/seasoning salt the next time I go to jazz things up a bit. There are two seafood restaurants at either end of the beach. El Cayuelo and El Ancla; both are worth checking out. The cost is very reasonable and vouchers are available at the front desk of the hotel worth $5 US off at both places. The beach is amazing. White sand, reef just off shore and no lack of beach chairs as I have heard some complain about Mexico. If you have children with you, I would recommend the Villas section as it is quieter.Definitely take advantage of the tours or rent a moped and go exploring on your own. We felt very safe wherever we went.

Top Local Tips for Holguin

Don't rent your own car The streets of Holguin and outskirts are very narrow and crazy - others have suggested not renting cars and we agreed 100%. It can get scary and their traffic laws are much different than North America. - Just rent a cab!!

Scooter Rent a scooter for a day, and drive to Holguin city. You won't regret it !!!

Trips Havana 2 day trip, The Doplhin/ Coral reef snorkling/ Deep Sea Fishing all 5 star rated by us, seem expensive but great value for money
