I Love This Place

from A TripAdvisor Member
I love Grand Cayman's, and this is one of the best places on the island. The staff is extremely friendly. The diving is wonderful. They continued to improve the facilities without overdoing it. I agree that it is expensive, but the entire island is a bit overpriced. Very relaxing.

Best vacation of our lives. Morritts' staff was friendliest and most fun. Location was heaven. Food was scrumptious. Monday am get-together on patio was very informative regarding places to go and things to do. That evening we went for sunset cruise. Although it was cloudy and no sunset, we had a great time and recognized others from Morritts. Three of us couples got together for supper and had several other adventures throughout the week. After snorkling with Captain Marvin at Sting Ray City, we were brave enough to to snorkeling on our own at Morritt's and at Queen's mounument. We enjoyed the night scubmarine dive, Blow holes, and met the devil at Hell. GC is heaven on earth. Picture postcard beautiful. Going back asap.

Resort Staff Extremely Friendly

We recently returned from a 7 night stay at the resort and I must say-the staff was extremely friendly. We vacationed with our 6 year old daughter who absolutely loved the kids club. Even the wait staff at David's Restaurant kept her busy so we could enjoy relaxing dinners.
Dave the maintenance man provided some excellent tips on shopping and dining. Our unit was spacious and comfortable inspite of the 3 floor walk up.

A have a TIP for you......

A have a "TIP" for those writers who have obviously displayed their anger and ignorance. People DO tend to REACT to other people's actions. We became owner's after our first trip to Morritts and will be anxiously returning next month. Everyone can have a bad trip...but isn't the trip mostly what you make it? It is difficult for me to read these stories, yet I will give the writer's the benefit of the doubt and believe that some of their unfortunate experiences were 1/2 as bad as they expressed and 1/2 their own making . They asked for the Moon and the Stars..and were disappointed to only receive the Sun? We found the staff, food, atmosphere, property, activities, location, and anything else I forgot to mention....absolutely great and willing to cater to our every whim! We thought Morritt's was PARADISE...it isn't? Sheesh....now ya tell me...too bad, we ARE going back for more...and more....and more..Hope you find what you are looking for writers with horror stories....cuz we have!

Too rich for our blood!

Just returned from Grand Cayman--stayed at Morritt's Tortuga.it is a very nice resort but pretty expensive!! We were paying 5 bucks a beer if that tells you anything!A nice island & probably the cleanest we have been too---but I would take the poorer ones any day! The people are more simple & a whole lot friendlier on the other islands!! Sting ray city is worth seeing & definately a trip to "Hell"!! Other then that if ya go to just party as we did you will be okay!!!But people are not real friendly!!

Morritts Tortuga

The Morritts Tortuga has a new addition - They call it the Grand Morritts - and it is Grand . The director of activities is Andrew - and he is fun. The new endless pool is also GRAND. The swim up bar is one of the best. All the pools and bars have rotating times for happy hour. We bought our own bottle and made drinks in out room some of the time. The US$ is not too strong right now. Having been to Canada a few weeks prior where the dollar is worth $1.35 Canadian made it seem even worse. Did most of our diving woth Ocean Frontiers a few miles away to save $20 per dive. They did a great DVD for us, with Stingray City and Babylon also. Really loved the Gazebo out on the ocean - with lights at night in the water showing the sea life.

Horror Show

The room was dirty and NOISY (filthy footprints on the walls!!). The air-conditioning units roared day and night. The pool water was 85 degrees-REFRESHING! Our veiw was a compost bucket full of dead branches. The waitstaff is rude and lazy. The managers could care less about your comfort. There is no room service and the "store" sells candy and snorkle masks. Wear something on your feet when you go to the beach. You can't get out into the water without killing yourself on rocks and broken shells. Rent a car because there is nothing around for miles. Cab rides (one way) to town are $70-$80. What a scam they have going here! Don't be fooled by their website! The images they show you have not even been built yet! Hell is located on the Island of Grand Cayman-it's otherwise known as Morrit's Tortuga.

wonderful

It was fabulous. Scuba diving was great. Rooms were quality as was the resort. Would go back anytime. Felt very safe on the island.

Loved It!

We just returned from Grand Cayman. Morritts Tortuga is on the East End of the Island well away from all the high rises and tourist traffic. You MUST rent a car or you are pretty isolated and getting to the grocery store would be expensive. If you do go to town try not to go between 8-10 or 4-6, the traffic gets backed up and you can spend your vacation sitting in it. The best place for shopping is Little Hurley's. We originally shopped in Georgetown only to find the place closest to the resort to be cheaper. The beach is secluded, the view is gorgeous. The resort is great, the service was also good. The Tortuga Dive Shop isexcellent and very willing to help new divers get oriented. Something is always going on to entertain you. We had two families there for a week (10people). We had two townhouse units that were very spacious. Grills areavailable for cooking out, and they also have a excellent spa. Excellent choice in resorts, would definately return.

Worth the trip

The Tortuga Club is a great oasis in an otherwise very secluded quiet area of Grand Cayman Island. The resort is beautiful, the beach is gorgeous and the staff is very helpful. The one bedroom units are great for two people but for more than that the two bedroom townhouses are very roomy. An oceanfront location is truly a piece of heaven. The only "downside" is the restaurant. There are far better places to dine in the area than "David's", the restaurant located at the resort. To stay here a rental car is a must!

Top Local Tips for Grand Cayman

Rum Point The single best beach in the world. Small, overhanging pines with chairs and food service handy. A shallow aqua bay with stingrays everywhere and activities to the hearts content.

Swim with the stingrays Don't be afraid this is a great experience. Even for children.

BYOB We flew thru Miami airport, so we stopped in the duty free prior to taking off and bought 2 bottles. They deliver your purchase to your gate and then you take it as a carry-on. We got this for half the price we would have paid on Cayman.
