Top Local Tips for Hamilton
Consider following before you travel to Bermuda When you travel to Bermuda, consider following: you can not rent a car; you travel by bus, scooter, ferry or cab; you have to always carry your items with you; you do not have a Caribbean sea, it is Atlantic ocean, meaning a cold water, waves and hi/lo tides - important for snorkeling; as the matter of fact, snorkeling is almost inexistent on Bermuda if you want to take underwater pictures (way too cloudy water); main beaches are rather overcrowded and small; you may be searched by customs at the airport (!!! - they look for "illegal drugs" on you; as a result, you feel very disturbed and insecure); the restaurant service is sluggish, you may spend 20-30 minutes to get your credit card back; most of the places do not offer all-inclusive; everything is a way more expensive compared to the USA; I personally do not see any reason to travel to Bermuda, when it is cheaper and nicer to travel to Caribbean island; unless you want to exercise your hidden masochistic nature?
Bus passes/mopeds The public bus/water ferry transportation system is an excellent way to get around and see the island. There is a 3 day discount pass available but not advertised much. Avoid the mopeds unless you are an average or better rider. Bermuda is not the place to learn how to operate a moped. Narrow streets with intimidating drivers.
The Fish Hut Go to the Fish Hut to sample real locals food. Don't get nervous about the appearance, it's safe and friendly and the food is fantastic. Scruffy but authentic.
