When we visted ABV last year we thought it was wonderful for the price offered - so many things to see and do. The kids had a great time in the kids club, and we all took part in watersports which were very exhilarating! I would recommend the catamaran cruise, you can make a day out of it and snorkel with so many beautiful tropical fish.
The restaurants were lovely, with a large choice of food from local Caribbean cuisine to Italian. All the staff were very friendly and the service was superb. Although the rooms were not very big and a little dark, they were kept to a high standard of cleaniness. We are returning this year as we are so impressed!

We recently got married at ABV and it was fantastic, the staff were all so friendly, the rooms are very clean and comfortable, the food was great and there was plenty of it, i would definitely reccommend it especially if your thinking of getting married. We cant wait to return next year in june!

We stayed at ABV November 2004 and loved everything about it - we are returning in July 2005. The main attraction for us was the excellent choice of restaurants, we can honestly say we did not have one bad meal and we made full use of all the restaurants! The staff were very friendly and the hotel well desgined in a 'village' format. The beach was beautiful but a little stoney in places, however, perfect for that romantic stroll after dinner!
We had a standard room which was pre-refurbishment and I have to admit it was a little dark and over-crowded with furniture but very clean, house keeping cleaned everyday, changed the towels daily and changed the sheets every couple of days. The rooms are much better after re-fit. It's worth getting out of the resort and visiting Bridgetown, great shops and lots to see. Speightstown is also worth a visit, the locals are lovely and the town very clean with a beautiful pier going out into the Sea.
Overall we had a great holiday and will be returning to ABV for many years to come.

The hotel is situated in an excellent location in Speightstown around 30 mins from Bridgetown and 20 mins from Holetown where the main shops are. The hotel is very family orientated and there were a lot of children there when we visited. This was not too much of a problem but I would recommend the sister property Almond Beach Club if you are without children. Our room was very nice with a huge bed. We upgraded to a deluxe superior beach front and it really was on the beach. We could walk out directly onto the sand and had a lovely view of the ocean.

It was myself and my girlfriends first experience of all inclusive and I have to admit there was no reason to pay for anything extra. All food, drinks and pretty much all activities were included. I'd say the biggest problem with the all inclusive aspect was the repetition of the foods at lunch time and the poor quality of the evening meals.

Overall I would recommend the hotel for families but would certainly advise you upgrade to the beach front room if you can afford it. I think the poolside and garden view rooms could end up feeling quite claustrophobic due to the layout of the buildings.

Top Local Tips for Speightstown

Sea Safari The Sea Safari is a "all-day" catamaran snorkeling trip...great fun with food, drinks, don't miss it...you snorkle over a ship wreck while schools of fish are being fed and then later snorkle while sea turtes are being fed...beautiful to see.

When to go I really do recommend going from FEBUARY 14 - MARCH 30TH time if you like hot wether. I would go in the summer if you like it cooler in Barbados.

go to the cliff restaurant for an expensive but exquisite dining experience If you go nowhere else in Barbados, you must go here!!
