Historical Traveller Reviews of Sea Breeze Beach Hotel
I will come back any time to this lovely hotel.
Last Sunday, I returned from my 5 day vacation in Barabados where I was staying at the Sea Breeze Hotel in Christchurch on the south shore. The hotel istself lies in excellent location just over 19 minutes by taxi from the airport. For the number of rooms, they have very large ocean-front grounds, 2 pools, 3 jacuzzis and quite a few loungers all over the property for those who just want a quiet place to relax. There is also a fairly good restaurant offering 3 meals a day and another open during the day for light meals and drinks. One can easily walk or take a cab to the St. Lawrence Gap when in search of entertainment or different restaurants and bars. The hotel is a very good value in excellent location. The staff provides usually friendly and reasonably good service throughout. To name just a few whom I met: Renae at the reception, Machelle at the main restaurant and, of course, the young man who is in charge of it all, Mr. Mark Kent, the General Manager whom you can meet on Tuesday nights during the evening welcome session. There are many others "behind the scene" who contribute also to mak ethe place run well. Overall, it was a very positive holiday experience and I would gladly recommend that hotel to everyone who is looking for a quiet, comfortable and safe seaside resort with beautiful beach and friendly staff and guests (mostly British). If you are looking for luxury only, go to the west coast but be prepared to pay a lot more.
As always, I am will to anwer your questions by email.
Have just returned from two weeks of paradise. The hotel is in a wonderful location, especially if you have an ocean view room. The gardens are beautiful and there are plenty of quiet spots in which to relax. There were quite a few young couples on holiday and it is a great place in which to get married. The rooms are large with plenty of storage space and the beds are huge. Everywhere is very cleanand the food is of a very high standard. However one of the down sides for us was the number of birds that flew in and out of the restaurant all the time. They are very tame and will think nothing of having a drink out of your glass of orange if you are away from the table for a minute. The only other thing I would like to mention is that the entertainment is very dull and you may feel rather bored in the evenings. We took a taxi to St Lawrence a couple of times and there are plenty of places there to eat and drink.
In comparison to other negative reviews, I cant think of 1 bad aspect of this hotel. We stayed there in January for my brothers wedding and the staff are so friendly. I guess it is the same as anywhere, you show them respect and they will return the gesture. Made friends with most of Bar Staff and in particularly our fav waiter "Heavenly Hash" or Junior. Location is almost perfect and the 2 beaches are amazing with crystal blue waters. Rooms were always kept very clean and the variety of food was incredible. I have been All Inclusive many times before and this is by far the most pleasant. As for people complaining about making a restaurant reservation, please!!! As if this is a big ask, and the chances are you do it at home anyway! Amazing hotel, beautiful gardens and friendly staff, and we will definately return to this Luxury.
This is a superb place if you just want to relax on your holiday. The hotel is small, clean with reasonable rooms, pretty gardens, two nice pools and a good beach. There is plenty of room to find your own quiet space. On the downside, the comments of the other reviewers are true - one of the receptionists is awful, you can be a patient as you like and she can still be downright rude and totally unhelpful. We also experienced a mixed service in the restaurant where almost all of the staff are friendly and helpful but some just forget that they are serving you at all - you may get a starter but no main course unless you ask. You do need to book everyday for your evening meal - book before breakfast if you want to eat at 7.30 or 8.00. Take the evening "entertainment" with a pinch of salt - if you think you have heard it all before you are probably staying for a second week. Take care with young children in the sea as it can be a little rough and keep a special watch out for the local on the jet ski as he doesn't care to look out for swimmers or surfers. Seems like a lot of complaints, I know, but you will love the hotel if you only want a relaxing holiday.
Valentines Day at Sea Breeze 2004
We have just returned from 2 weeks at the Sea Breeze Hotel and what a brilliant time we had. My 50th birthday was on Valentines Day 2004 and last year i decided that it was depressing enough being 50 let alone being in dreary cold old England so Barbados was booked. Unfotunatley i was diagnosed with breast cancer shortly afterwards and spent the rest of the year having chemotherepy, surgery followed by radio therepy,a lot was riding on this holiday being restfull and relaxing and we were not dissapointed. We were greeted at the airport by a really friendly taxi driver who pointed out places we might find interesting to visit.
Upon arriving at the Sea Breeze we were welcome with a very refreshing fruit punch and a smiley receptionist who soon had us booked in while explaining where everything was. Our room was beautifull and very very clean the balcony overlooked the fine white sandy beach and the chrystal clear blue sea, ( stunning ) Each and every member of staff was polite and helpfull. The Sea Breeze is set among beautifull gardens which are kept perfectly, it has two separate pool areas a bar and restaurant and a separate beach bar serving snacks and drinks all day.
Going to dinner in the evening was a chance to dress up and party ( if you wanted too ) the food was delicious with a different menu each evening and how lovely to walk away from the washing up !!!!!!! There are so many things to do in Barbados all of which will be explained by the rep, and the Bajan people are incredibly friendly we felt very safe the whole time. Most importantly at the end of our holiday we feel refreshed and relaxed and very pampered. We highly recommend The Sea Breeze to anybody, while we were there we met many people who had been there before and i can honestly see why, we had a wonderful time THANK YOU to every one at The Sea Breeze. Just back from a week at the Sea Breeze, which made a great base for a relaxing holiday. The hotel is on a 'campus', with enough space to find a quiet spot at any time of day (ie. you can avoid the Brits tucking into rum punch at 10am!). It has two pools, a triple jacuzzi and a couple of double hammocks in the garden, but most importantly a beautifully white beach, with unbroken sun - from sunrise over Oistins to your left, to sunset over the Carribbean Sea to your right. Agree somewhat with other reviews about the staff, but keep trying with them - they don't really hate you - they're just shy. We minimised exposure to the in-house food, so can't really comment, although 'non-inclusive' guests seemed happier with their food, mainly due to some great restaurants at St Lawrence Gap (Josef's, Southsea, Ocean's, Bellini's) and the Friday Fish Fry at Oistins - both 5 mins away by cab.

Great place for the over 40 crowd , quiet, very friendly staff, clean rooms, good beach , good swimming, special thanks to the desk staff that presented us with a bottle of champagne. As were we checking out they found out we had gotten married on a beach one morning. Thumbs up to the Sea Breeze, a quiet place away from the noise. No Van Halen here but the entertainment is fun. Scott and ShaunaP.S. Seems strange that most of the negative reviews are from the U.K. and are about patience??? Your on vacation man, relax!!!!!
Not perfect, but pretty good!

My wife and I stayed at the Sea Breeze for our friends' wedding in 2001. We enjoyed the spot so much that we returned in 2002. We went in October both years, so it was not high season. The hotel is clean and well kept. As suggested in some of the other reviews, I did get the feeling that the majority of the staff didn't really want to be working there. We didn't experience rudeness, but there was a ~definite~ lack of enthusiasm. The only other complaint I had was with the restaurant.
While the food was Excellent, I would have preferred a little more variety in menu prices. As an intermediate-income traveller, I simply can't afford to eat at the restaurant for dinner. We would have gladly spent our money on site if there were a few more economical options.
For those on a budget, the restaurant at the Butterfly Beach Hotel (affiliated with Sea Breeze), just a 5 minute walk away was much more affordable. In fact, I do recall that the staff were a little happier to serve us. Other than these problems, which are altogether minor, everything else about the hotel is great!
Make sure you book your free tour

We stayed at the Sea Breeze 3 Jan -10 Jan 04 and found the hotel itself really nice, very clean and overlooking a small but beautifull beach with white sands and clear turquoise sea but the attitude of its staff are a major let down. The receptionist who checked us in was totally incompetent, unwelcoming and completely uninformative. The free tour is only operated on a tuesday and sunday and you have to book " in advance " or you won't get a place which happened to us and other guests. The majority of staff never acknowledge you, avoid eye contact and carry on with what they are doing or find something else to do rather than serve you. The restaurant was very dimly lit at night and you have to book your table every night even though we were all inclusive.
Great place if you can tolerate some of the apathetic staff

My wife and I were at the Sea Breeze for the best part of a week up to and after the New Year. On balance, it was a wonderful hotel resort.
The beach is near perfect. Enough sun loungers to go round (on the assumption that half the hotel guests were taking up the loungers around the pools - which they always did). The beach was made up of very fine white sand with few stones on the seabed. We (like everyone else) were bothered by the same vendor selling raw aloe vera (and sometimes ganga) and the same guy renting out his jet ski. All you need to do is politely say "no thanks" and they get the message. Really though, they should do something about it as having to look up and respond to these people is annoying in itself. The food is excellent.
We went half board (or as they refer to it, Modified American Plan). We didn't really have a big lunch, so full board (All-Inclusive) wasn't necessary. Birds flying into the dining room was particularly irritating. Beautiful they may be, but hygienic they are not...something the staff seemed less bothered about than me. Talking of which, the staff were mainly helpful, but as mentioned in other reviews, a particular lady at the reception was a miserable old goat.
You'll notice who I mean if you ever go there...it's the one who doesn't look up (let alone give you eye contact), interrupts you every 5 seconds to answer the phone and help them with their enquires (I mean, I was there first!), and is generally quite miserable. She is middle aged and on the large side. The other receptionists were decent.
On our first day, one of the bar staff made out they couldn't serve us because we weren't on the All-Inclusive...turns out it's more likely he couldn't be bothered to write out the receipt to charge to our room (which is standard practice). I've been informed that the Caribbean is abundant in indifferent workers, so it might explain how a wonderful hotel is serviced by people who lack interpersonal skills. Strangely, the housemaids seemed charismatic. All-in-all, a great place.

If you can afford it, do visit Columbian Emeralds in Bridgetown. Beautiful jewellery which is almost half UK price.
This ttrip is a must go with the flow and look round the island the only way, on the back of a jeep the tour guide was great and happy to answer any questions, we saw so much and the places we stopped was amazing, if you do one thing this is it.
