The One and Only in Paradise Island--this is totally luxurious -- i was pampered to the bone--my rooms are exquisite overlooking the blue water of the Atlantic Ocean. The staffs are very friendly. It cost a fortune but if relaxation is what you have in mind--come to the Ocean Club. Also, you have access to the facility of the Atlantis--that's another add on--The Atlantis is a sister company and it's absolutely marvelous to go around this two resorts. A total relaxation!!!

Historical Traveller Reviews of One & Only Ocean Club Hotel

What a great place for a Honeymoon!

from A TripAdvisor Member
I read all the reviews of this place and most people stated that it was amazing. There were a few negative comments, but after staying there a week ago, I'm baffled as to what those negative people were thinking!

Our stay was fantastic. This resort is quiet and relaxing. We stayed at The Royal Towers of Atlantis also for a couple nights and found it fun, but crowded. It was hard to get a chair. At Ocean Club, all the staff remembers your name and other information. They are too friendly. We dined there almost every night and found that the quality of the food is OUTSTANDING! Yes, it is expensive, but if you can't afford it, than you probably shouldn't be at the resort. It truly is a beautiful place and we look forward to returning.

Absolute Heaven!

My husband and I were actually married during our stay at the Ocean Club and as a romantic place to honeymoon, it didn't disappoint. It definitely exceeded our expectations and we really couldn't fault it - a truly idyllic hotel!

We spent a week at Ocean Club in June 2004 and found the place and the staff to be of the highest quality.
We cannot praise the staff highly enough and accomodation was first class. Would certainly recommend it.
If you are looking for a quality holiday away from it all, then this is the place.

The Best Ever!

My husband and I just returned from a trip to the Ocean Club. The rude comments we read here were completely untrue. We would both love to go back to the Ocean Club and would actually consider taking up residence!

If you can afford the Ocean Club, you can afford to share the wealth.
What are these negative reviewers doing, not “sweating dollars” at a resort like the Ocean Club? If you are staying at a 5 star resort such as this, please remember to tip the staff. The way to handle it is to tip big on arrival, then ease off a bit. If you think you are going to receive proper service not doing so, then I would suggest you stay a few star levels down. It’s the way it works at luxury properties, regardless of the pre-included gratuities.

We were offered our sunset drinks, our strawberries, our ice… etc. If we were not in our room our butler left us a message on our voice mail asking when we would like them delivered. All of our phone calls were legit on the bill. One time we had to say no to a roaming beach vendor, and he promptly walked away. The spa was amazing, the workout room was well staffed and large, the grounds were perfectly landscaped.

We took the free Escalade to the casino. To the person who looks down upon a casino filled with tacky, smoky, icky neuvo and touring people, etc. what casino with nickel slots and obnoxious glass sculpture is not? If you want a very classy casino, what are you doing hanging out at a hotel with a water slide? This is what made our vacation fun. We went to the bustling loud smoky casino, had some laughs, and came back to our pristine little oasis. The dichotomy was energizing.

Our suite was awesome. Not only was the furniture in clean condition, there were no dust bunnies. The stone used throughout the baths was lovely. The hardwood floors were a bit slippery, so we had to walk with bare feet! No complaints at all. The sheets were always new with not a wrinkle, the towels were plentiful. The slippers were not removed, but waiting by the bed. Our floors were not only vacuumed daily, but mopped daily as well.

The employees of this resort were among the most intelligent and personable I have ever experienced. Their dry sense of humor, making eye contact when listening, recognizing us by name, remembering where we went the day before and discussing… the only word is wow! We stay at resorts on this level all over the world. There must be something right in the training and management at the Ocean Club.

I could go on and on about Dune, the Balinese spa, the best beach staff ever, but, this is really really long already. In a nut shell? GO! GO AS FAST AS YOU CAN!

A wonderful relaxing get away from reality!

We just returned from a wonderful relaxing get away from reality! We did a lot of research on the internet before selecting the One & Only Resort. We did not know anyone personally who had stayed there before so we had to rely on reviews like this and gut instinct! Yes, it was expensive, but we knew that going into it! If money is an issue this might not be the place to go. We stayed in the Crescent Wing, beach front, on the bottom floor. If we ever go back we would not change a thing! Our rooms were beautiful and luxurious. We kept our doors open most of the time just to listen to the peacefulness of the ocean. We were informed of our "butler" upon arrival. We did not find him knocking at our door to serve us (not that we wanted that) but he was no further away than a button on our phone when we did need his service. The champagne and strawberries were delivered between 5-7 each night. As informed upon arrival, if we thought we might be out and still wanted this service it was no more than calling the butler to let him know.If the maid service was not done in a timely fashion or to our liking, again, it was no more than a phone call away to have it done at a convenient time. BTW, don t refuse the "turn down" service in the evenings, a real nice touch! We found the total environment to be slow and relaxing. That is exactly what we were looking for. If you are looking for a more up-beat, fast paced environment, I would recommend going 10 minutes down the beach to "The Atlantis" to stay. We thoroughly enjoyed The Atlantis and recommend everyone to check it out. But we were happy not to be staying there in all of its business and commotion! We were on a romantic get away, if we had brought our children with us we definitely would have stayed at the Atlantis.I am not belittling all of the complaints other people made, but we did not find any of them to be apparent in our experience. Some of the things people complained about were very petty and easily fixed with a quick phone call. I did experience the buttermilk coffee cream aswell and quickly learned to ask for half & half. You have to realize that you are in a different country thus things are going to be different! Most people were extremely friendly, especially compared to those off the resort! The Spa was fantastic; don't miss the 75 minute facial! If we go back to the Bahamas, we'd definitely stay there again!

Good place to chill

We spent two nights at the Ocean Club from Jan 4-6. It was our second time. Great hotel with impeccably manicured gardens. Michael Jordan was having a celebrity golf tournament so we saw some cool people like Wayne Gretzky and Pete Sampras. The pool is great for just hanging and having lunch. The hotel is adding Villas so there is some construction but it did not interfere. Our hot water was spotty but the manager comped us a bit so that worked out fine. Dune is good and breakfast in the room is always nice. Head to town for a dinner though and explore Nassau.Atlantis is just a walk on the beach or a shuttle away. A little pricey.

Excellent experience and 007 to boot!

My wife and I had a marvelous time at the Ocean Club. We stayed there in early November and it just so happened that Pierce Brosnon and Selma Hayek were filming a movie there at the same time. We saw Pierce multiple times but never saw Selma.

Anyway, the Ocean Club met most of our expectations; the bell boys, butlers, conceirge and Front desk were pleasant and efficient. When we arrived we were upgraded to a ocean view room in the Hartford wing, which was beautiful and more than adequate for both of us. We had breakfast every morning overlooking the Ocean. I don't believe the extra cost for the Crescent wing is justified, although the rooms are probably bigger and have nicer furnishings. The Dune restaurant was amazing and the Poolside Cafe was very good. I would have to say the our dinning experience at the Courtyard Terrace was awful. The food was not very good and it in no way justified the price that they charge. We sent our food back and ended up eating at Dune again. (Be prepared to pay extremely high prices for wine or drinks, but then again it is the islands). Other highpoints: beautiful pool, CDs & headsets at the pool, beautiful gardens, DVD player in room, Digital Radio, great tennis courts, free yoga twice daily and chocolate covered strawberries & champagne every night. Don't expect super fast service and don't rent a car.

All-in-all it was a great trip, but for other people traveling to the Ocean Club, remember that locations that are as nice as the Ocean Club command high prices so that they can maintain the grounds and hire the best help. I believe that, although on the expensive side, Ocean Club delivers a very beautiful and relaxing experience.

Having read some of the one star reviews I must have been on a different Island. This is a truly fine hotel with impeccable service and great staff. Yes it's expensive but if you want cheap stay somewhere ordinary. Rooms were well fitted and beautifully managed.
Staff were helpful and friendly. Food was attractively presented and exceptional. not everything was perfect but the hotel was always helpful and attentive Thank you One and Only we will be back and will be visiting other hotels in the group. My tip - ignore the one-star reviews and spend your money wisely

Despite booking at the last minute and aware of the threats of Hurricanes, Construction work on the premises and very high humidity - our visit to the Ocean Club was a great success. With two teenage children in tow - there was enough for us all from neighbouring Atlantis (a perfect combination- visit, have great fun and then return to Ocean Club tranquility!), Golf, Great beach and pool and tropical hospitality. If budget and availability allows, take a Crescent room as a preference - probably the best appointed and sized accommodation we have ever received. The only criticism......range, pricing and style of the only two restaurants in the hotel - neither really suitable for children and if staying for several days the lack of alternative (venue and menu) became limiting.Otherwise, a strong recommendation.Thank you Ocean Club.

My husband and I can't stop raving about the Ocean Club! We had a wonderful experience and look forward to going back. It is true that everything is extremely expensive. However, the impeccable service we received made it well worth it. Everyone at the hotel was polite and pleasant. We had a minor problem with our first room, but Clay(the manager) immediately had us moved into another with a better view! We went to Atlantis a few times for dinner during our stay. I cannot stress enough how glad I am that we did not stay in that madhouse! The beauty and tranquility of Ocean Club is second to none. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing worry-free vacation.
